Dominic
It's been almost 48 hours, and the police haven't found anything. The only clue they got was from one of the neighbors, and that was that a dark SUV was parked in front of her house around six thirty. Nothing else; the neighbors didn't hear anything. Word had already spread to the news station. My brother has already lodged a missing persons report. I was still in shock, as was her mother. I stayed up the entire night trying to figure out what happened and who had her.
I was worried about her and the baby. They didn't find anything in her apartment apart from my finger prints, hers, and her friends. They were at a dead end. She had an ex's, according to Mel, but he didn't do it, and as far as I know, Alyssa was the only one that has been a problem lately. Jameson has been tailing Alyssa, but he reported that she hasn't left her house. So who the fuck has her?
“Dominican, why don't you go take a shower and get something to eat?” I looked up to find my father standing in front of me.
"II'm not hungry right now. Where is she? How is she? What's happening to her?. This is why I didn't want her to go back home, but she insisted”.
"AAre you blaming Tia right now?” ,
"II'm not, but if she were with me, this wouldn't have happened. I can't imagine what she's going through right now.”.
Her mother walked out and came over to where I was.
“I'm sorry, this is my fault. If I had been more careful to protect her, this wouldn't have happened”. She rested her hand on mine.
“It isn't your fault; whoever did this, it's their fault; no one knew this would happen.”.
I left them sitting there and went to my old room, the room we both shared up until two days ago. I missed her like crazy. I half expected her to walk through the door, smiling at me.
It's been twenty days since the police started the investigation, but they had no leads. They contacted the FBI. My father called a few of his friends, but no one found anything. I'm about to lose my mind after twenty days, and she's not back—not a single clue. There are rumors going around the company saying that she's dead. People are saying that she's dead, and I don't want to believe that. I refuse to believe that she's dead; she can't just die and leave me like that.
I've been short-tempered with everyone. I get angry at the smallest of things. Every single employee stays clear of me. No one wants to be around me, not even my own family. That's how miserable I was. Why can't they find her? Why can't Jameson find her? Why can no fucking body find her? Her mother's worried to death. So are Mel and Tatiana. Alyssa has been going around as normal as if nothing has happened. The FBI questioned her again, but she keeps being insistent that she has nothing to do with this. At this rate, I'll lose my fucking mind if I can't find her.
For the past few weeks, Tatiana has been walking around New York with her pictures, asking people if they've seen her, as has Mel. My father put out a reward for her, but nothing. Last night, I broke down, and I cried for the first time in my life. I cried because when I actually find the one person who makes me happy, she's gone, and I don't know how to continue living without her.
Today marks one month and a half since she's gone. I really didn't want to go to the office, but I had to. I told Tatiana to take charge until she came back. We had an important meeting, and seeing it was Saturday, the building would be empty. My father, my brother, Tatiana, Nicholas, and Mark were in the boardroom going over the contracts and development papers. It was close to lunch.
", Mr. Chase I'll go order some food for lunch; it seems we'll be here for a while. What would you like, sir?" I looked at her.
“I'm not hungry. Take everyone's order." I knew that look in her face.
“You will eat. You may be my boss, but you're human, and when she comes back and finds out that you haven't been eating, it'll be my head." I saw the slight smirk my father had.
“Fine, I'll have a burger.”. She stood up and took everyone's order.
“Okay, I'll go pick this up, and then we can continue.”.
She walked out, leaving us alone. My brother looked at me.
“She really is a devoted friend." I just ignored him. They were discussing one of the contracts when the phone in the boardroom started ringing. I figured it was Tatiana because only she knows we're here. I answered and put it on speaker.
"Yes, Tatiana?” That's when she started screaming and crying. I jumped up at the same time as my brother.
“My Chase, it's Tia; she's in the parking garage; she's not breathing. Please hurry; please, you have to help her; she's going to diee..
I didn't think I ran out. How I made it down thirteen flights of stairs so fast, I'll never know. I found Tatiana sitting on the floor crying with Tia's head in her lap. What the fuck did they do to her?.
“Mr. Chase, she's not breathing. I called an ambulance. Help her, please.”.
I rushed over to her and checked her for a pulse. I heard the running footsteps behind me and the sound of the ambulance. “Come on, Tia, please; you can't do this to me, not now, please.”.
Her entire body was covered in blood and black and blue marks.
"TTatiana calls Mel and her mother.”. I got into the ambulance with her. I was losing it, and I wasn't going to be good.
When we got to the hospital, they rushed her into surgery. I was pacing the Er when my parents, Mel, her mother, Tatiana, my brother, and his wife walked in, followed by the police. “Dominican, what happened?”
Tatiana told them where she found her and how she found her. I couldn't stay still; I was losing my mind.
“Dad, do something,” he said, looking at me. He could tell I was about to go crazy.
"DDominic Calm down,"
“How can I calm down when she's in there fighting for her life? I don't know who the fuck did this to her. I just want her to be okay.”.
“She will be. I know a few doctors; just give me a few minutes, okay?”. He walked away, leaving us.
