CHAPTER 37

CHAPTER 37
DALTON

We arrived at the shopping mall, and Blair seemed like a kid on Christmas. Honestly, I didn't know she enjoyed shopping so much.

"I didn't know you liked shopping!" I said to her.

"Yeah, I do. Not as much as other girls, but I do," she replied, giving me one of her smiles.

"So, where are we going first?"

"Here," she pointed to a store with the sign of Zara.

We entered the store, but we went through the men's section, which attracted several looks toward Blair. However, as always, she was oblivious to the whole situation. On the contrary, she started looking at men's clothing. It was both sexy and adorable to see her pick out clothes for me.

"Yeah, if you keep doing that, you're going to spoil me," I said, kissing her on the crown of her head.

"I like doing it, it's entertaining," she shrugged and smiled. "Do you like it?"

She showed me a white linen shirt.

"Yeah, it's not something I would choose, but yeah," I said, leaning against one of the furniture pieces and crossing my arms over my chest.

"That sounds like what I used to tell my mom when I didn't like the clothes she picked for me," she laughed.

"In the next store, I'll pick your clothes," I whispered in her ear as I passed behind her. "Hopefully it'll be Victoria's Secret."

I slipped away among the clothing racks to give Blair some space. I also didn't want her to feel like I was hovering over her all the time. The thought of leaving her alone made me nervous, but it was just a department store. I can't lose her, can I?

Curiously, and without realizing it, I ended up in the children's section of the store. Tiny things were hanging on hangers, also small, and it gave me a kind of anxiety. Everything here is so small. Kids are running around the area, and moms holding their children's hands, giving them penetrating looks.

Blair would look really good as a mom.

Where did that come from?

I approached one of the small mannequins and saw that it was a little boy wearing a white t-shirt, a navy blue knitted cardigan, and a pair of soft-looking jeans.

Next to it, the clothes the mannequin was wearing were perfectly folded in all sizes. Without even thinking, I took one of each garment the mannequin had on and walked to the cash register. A girl with an "I don't care about anything in this world" attitude attended to me. She had a lip piercing and a somewhat gothic appearance. I searched for my wallet in my back pocket.

"Will that be all, sir?" the cashier asked.

"Yes."

"Don't you want a cologne?" she asked out of obligation.

Without paying much attention, I randomly picked one and handed it to the girl. I heard a sigh behind me and turned slowly to find a group of women looking at me as if they had seen the hottest thing in their lives. I'm not saying I'm not attractive, but they were practically devouring me with their eyes.

"It's because you're buying baby clothes," the cashier said.

Seeing my bewildered expression, she continued:

"For a man to buy baby clothes for women is like men seeing a woman with a model's body," she said with a hint of annoyance.

"I'm married."

"Believe me, they don't care."

She handed me my change and took the cardboard bag with complete confusion. Is it really like that for women? It sounds strange, but it might be true. Women are unpredictable in everything. I leave the store, and Bennett and George are sitting on a bench.

I don't know why, but I don't like Bennett. He doesn't have a good guy face, which frustrates me completely. He's one of those people you dislike, but you don't even know why. I just know he has a puppet-like attitude.

I sit down next to George.

"Are you done already, sir?" the puppet asks.

"My wife will decide when we're done," I reply somewhat rudely, but as I said, he frustrates me.

"And your wife, Mr. Black?" George asks.

"She's still inside the store."

"I see you bought something," he points to the small bag I'm carrying. "A gift for your wife?"

"No... it's... it's..."

I couldn't find the words to say what was inside the bag. A dream? I don't know.

Partly, it's true, because everyone knows that one of my biggest dreams is to be a father. But realistically, I will never be a father alongside Blair. As soon as we get back home, I'll tell her everything, and I know she'll leave me. Having a family... that's something Blair will create with someone else, not with me. Even though we're bonded, she can leave me at any moment.

"I'm exhausted," Blair says, resting her head on my shoulder once we're inside the car.

"And we still have a long way to go," I say to tease her.

"No, Dalton, I'm too tired!" she retorts.

"Don't you have any energy left for a hockey game?" I ask, showing her the tickets that George and I got.

"I've never been to a hockey game," she says, looking at the tickets.

"We'll go tonight."

"Okay."

After we were dropped off at the travel agency, we took the car and drove back home. On the way, we couldn't help but talk about completely trivial things.

One of my hands was on the steering wheel, and the other was on Blair's knee, my wife. I wouldn't stop saying it until I made sure it would never happen again.

We arrived home and decided to rest for a while since our day had been quite hectic, and we needed to recharge our batteries. I lay down on the bed wearing only a black t-shirt and pants, and Blair does the same, ending up in just a black shirt and her damn black lace panties that do nothing but tempt me.

"Do you enjoy teasing me?"

"What kind of wife would I be if I didn't?"

She starts slowly climbing onto the bed, and to my surprise, she straddles me, placing her hands on my cheeks, bringing her face slowly towards mine, and unable to wait any longer, I grab the back of her neck and our lips meet.

I instinctively place my hands on her backside and squeeze it, causing Blair to let out a moan. We separate to catch our breath, and I was already more than excited.

"And what kind of husband would I be if I didn't let you?" With those words, we flip over, and I end up on top of her.

I don't think we're going to rest.

Blair had entered the bathroom after making love twice. It was mind-blowing, but the only thing I can think about is her wonderful body, and her moans while I'm fucking her. Without a doubt, this woman was made for me.

The heat was getting to me this year. Damn it, Nick. I pick up my phone and dial Nick's number, and he answers on the third ring.

"Dalton?"

"Hey, Nick."

"Good to hear from you guys."

"How's everything over there?"

"Fine, just the usual problems, a few rogues getting hot and not getting along. Nothing we can't handle," he said calmly.

"Nick..."

One thing I had asked Nick to take care of while I was away was the issue of my paternity with that child, and that was what I feared the most. One damn question would change my life completely.

"Is he my son?" I let out all the air. Nick stayed silent for a few seconds on the other end of the line.

"Yes, Dalton, he is," and that made my future go to waste.

"Are you sure?" I asked hopefully.

"Yes, three tests, three different doctors, and three different hospitals. It's your son."

I hang up the phone and try to keep my heart inside my chest. A sadness and helplessness overwhelm me knowing that I'm going to hurt my moon like no one else. She won't be the mother of the future alpha. My first child with Blair won't be seen and respected as the alpha.

My eyes well up with tears, my wolf feels wounded by the helplessness I feel right now. But what can I do? I can't deny my child, my flesh and blood. He or she is not to blame for my stupidity.

"Dalton?" Blair's voice surprises me, and I erase all traces of any emotions.

"Yes?" I turn around and face her.

"Are you ready to go? I just called for the pick-up," she says gently.

"Sure, we need to go."

The place was a complete mess, and it was driving me crazy. I don't like things being disorganized, although I'm not a control freak. I want a beer, that's what I want.

"Let's go to a souvenir shop,

shall we?" Before I can even respond, Blair takes me by the arm and leads me straight to the store.

"What can I help you with, miss?" asks a young blonde.

"Do you have team t-shirts?"

"At the moment, I don't have t-shirts, but I have hoodies."

"I need one for a man and another for a woman, please," Blair requests.

Minutes later, we leave the small shop. Blair is wearing a navy blue team hoodie, while mine is cream-colored with blue stripes, and both have the Toronto Maple Leafs print.

"Is there anything in this world you don't look good in?"

"On some occasions, orange is not my best color," she replies playfully.

We reach our seats, and there are less than 15 minutes left until the game starts. A group of college guys sits in front of us, and I say college guys because they fit the profile.

Thirty minutes later, I try not to pay attention to the looks they give Blair, who, as always, is more focused on other things than that. And she's quite excited about the game.

I let out a small growl at the stupid conversations. This is testing my patience.

"What do you think she's like in bed?"

"I have no idea, but I plan to find out tonight."

Those words are what pushes me over the edge.

I stand up and kick the seat of the guy who just said he plans to take Blair to bed. He jumps and turns around to face me.

"Are you stupid or what?" he says angrily.

"Shut up, idiot. If you're going to desire something you can't have, at least do it quietly." With that, his expression changes.

"Dalton, calm down," Blair says as she places her hand on my chest.

But I refuse to calm down without smashing this jerk's face. I clench my fists at my sides, trying to calm myself, but it doesn't work. The more I think about it, the more my hands itch to punch this idiot. Suddenly, I am more than willing to pounce on both of them.

But out of nowhere, Blair's lips are on mine. She grabbed my face and turned me to kiss me. Her tongue plays with mine, and all I do is position my body so I can kiss her properly. But I still hear the idiots and can't hold back any longer. I break away from Blair and throw a punch at the other guy that lands right on his jaw.

I leap over the seats and stand in front of the other guy, ready to deliver another punch. Let this begin.
