Chapter 229 Chapter 229.
Luca.

My gaze shifted back to Jun, something else crossing my mind.

“Jun, now that Smith is gone, you know you don’t have to stay here anymore, right?”

He groaned dramatically, leaning back in his chair.

“Man, that hurts. Can you even survive without me?”

I nodded without hesitation. “Absolutely.”

He snorted. “Yeah, no. I’m not leaving. I’m already too deep into this world and honestly, I kind of love it..."

I shook my head slightly. “You’re a maniac.”

He chuckled.

“I know, but New York feels like home now, and working for you isn’t that bad. You are cool.....sometimes.”

“Fuck off. I need a nap.”

Jun sighed, then tilted his head slightly.

“If you want to know, Bella is at home.”

My brows lifted slightly. “Okay.”

He frowned at my reaction.

“Luca, listen. She deserves to know that the engagement didn’t happen and that Smith is done. She deserves that much.”

I leaned back again, my expression turning colder.

“It’s all over the news. She will see it.”

Jun let out a sharp breath.

“We both know Bella barely checks anything. She lives in her own world half of the time. Fine, what about Vivian? She needs to know about that.”

I exhaled slowly, irritation creeping in.

“What is your problem? Mara already knows so she will tell her. Let me be.”

His eyes narrowed. “This isn’t right. You two aren’t actually doing this. You can’t just break up like that.”

I snapped, my patience wearing thin. “Why are you suffocating me? She broke up with me and not the other way around!”

“She panicked.”

I let out a dry laugh. “Panicked? If that’s your excuse, then we should have never been together in the first place.”

Jun dragged a hand through his hair.

“I can’t shake the feeling that this is partly about Archer.”

“Yeah probably.”

My tone sharpened. “Archer who? I was right there watching him touch her like he had the right. She always does this. She gets pissed and tries to get back at me. But is this whole engagement thing my fault?”

Jun shook his head. “She wasn’t trying to get back at you. She told me that herself. And by the way, the stylist you once complained about and insisted I get a female one? That’s him. Archer and he is gay like I fucking told you.”

“Gay or not, I don’t trust anyone around her.”

She was fucking pretty and sexy. Too sexy to be calm about.

Jun sighed. “So what now? You two are done for real?”

I didn’t answer.

Instead, I opened the drawer, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and lighting one, the smoke filling my lungs as I leaned back.

Jun chuckled. “Look at you smoking the moment she leaves. What’s next?? You going back to drugs tomorrow?”

I shot him a sharp look.

“For your information, I can do whatever I want. Bella this, Bella that, she doesn’t want me. Is that clear enough for you to stop pushing it?”

He smirked slightly. “I can’t wait to watch you break. Give it a few hours, and you will be crawling back to her.”

“Get out.”

My voice dropped.

“Actually, get out of my life and go back to Korea.”

He stood up, stretching slightly.

“I’m staying right here to watch the show. This is going to be absolute cinema.”

Then he tilted his head. “Want to hit the club?”

I shook my head instinctively. “No, Bella doesn’t like—"

His laughter cut me off.

“Did you hear yourself? You just proved my point. Go and get your girl and stop acting like an idiot.”

I glared at him. “Shut up.”

He shook his head, still amused.

“You literally punched me in prison because I said she looked sexy in a picture. And now you want me to believe you are fine letting her go? You still fucking get jealous of my friendship with her. Man..."

I stood up and dropped the cigarette.

“I need you to shut the fuck up right now. Yes, I can’t live without her. Yes, she has been stuck in my head. Yes, I can barely breathe without her. I am literally holding myself back from going after her right now. I am trying not to take pills to calm myself down. I need her. But what is the point if she walks away the moment things get hard?”

His expression softened slightly.

“I get you. But she has never done this before, and this is new for her too. You know how she is, and don’t forget everything happening involves her ex best friend too!”

He paused suddenly. “Wait, where the hell is Rosie?”

A dark chuckle left me. “Why? I won’t be surprised if you go to her. You lose your senses when it comes to pussy.”

He rolled his eyes. “Not what you are thinking. I don’t want anything with her anymore. I just want to mock her.”

I stared at him for a moment before speaking. “Fine, let’s go to the club.”

He blinked. “I was joking. You are actually serious? You want to go to the club and hook up?”

Dumbass.

“Jun, let’s go to the fucking club. When did you become Bella’s lawyer?”

He frowned. “Think about this. Don’t do something stupid you will regret because I know you are going to end up in her house by dawn. So don’t go hooking up with someone else. Can you even get your dick up for anyone else?”

I shook my head. “Barely. I’m not hooking up. Anything else?”

He nodded slowly. “Yeah, one more thing. I have a buddy who saw Bella and got interested but I told him she was taken. Can he go for her now?”

“You won’t give it a rest right? Fine. She left me doesn’t mean she is free of me. If your stupid buddy doesn't want to lose his life, he should stay the fuck away from what is MINE. I’m not joking.”

He raised his brow in confusion. “So what does that mean? You are not with her but no one else can be either?”

A slow grin spread across my face, something dangerous settling in my chest.

“Exactly. Me or no else. I’m free and I will have a good time killing any guy who tries to get near her.”

He stared at me for a second before shaking his head.

“Fuck..... you’re actually insane...."
