Chapter 62
POV Kaleo
Tagar is speaking to me now, but I have no idea what he's saying. I can't focus on him, I can't focus on my Lica, who doesn't understand anything and can't leave my side, and everywhere I look, everything is blurred because of my tears.
She’s gone.
They took my Melissa from me.
They took a part of me, and I know it will be nearly impossible to get her back.
The Faleus are too rich, and they have the laws on their side. In front of them, I'm just a savage from a barbaric planet who brought a female who shouldn’t even be here.
"Kaleo!" Tagar calls, touching my shoulder.
We’re still in the same spot where the ship was landed, as if some miracle could happen and make Melissa appear here.
"Give me a moment," I ask, knowing I need more than just a moment.
It was only a few months with her, but I’ll never forget her. She’ll always be my little wife.
However, the short-haired Azuri grabs my shoulders and shakes me, and since he seems to have saved all his battle strength, even though he’s about fifteen years older than me, the male almost knocks me to the ground.
"Kaleo, look up! The ship is coming back!" he yells, and even though what he's saying doesn’t make sense, I obey him, because I’ll never stop searching for my female. And I almost die of heart failure when I realize Tagar is right—the ship really is coming back!
"Let’s move a little so they can land here!"
"We don’t even know if it’s the same ship," I whisper, my voice almost gone because I screamed as if I were on the frontlines of a battle.
"Have faith, my boy! Your Melisha must have convinced them to let her come back somehow." Tagar, who is being extremely helpful in this difficult moment, pulls me by the arm, and Lica follows.
I don’t know what could have happened, but the ship in the sky really is approaching us at a high speed, raising black dirt and shaking the trees. It lands exactly where it was before.
I can’t say anything, my whole body is so tense it hurts, until one of the ship doors opens, and right behind it is my female, small as always, with her face very pink, which means she’s been crying.
"Kaleo!" she shouts as soon as she sees me, causing a shiver to run through my entire body. The fire inside me lights up, and I finally manage to breathe again, drying my tears quickly just to see her better and make sure I’m not going crazy.
However, when the door slides fully open, I notice there’s a big Faleu male holding her by the arm, which makes me growl and intensifies the fire inside me, but now it's filled with rage.
It was them who took my female from me, and I’ll kill whoever I have to in order to get her back!
I quickly check her body for injuries and notice that Melissa is wearing the clothes I picked for her last night—the set of pants and a warm sweatshirt that can fit a mini heater inside—and thanks to Novai, I don’t find any signs of blood or tears.
How did this female manage to come back, and without any signs of a struggle?!
And this time, even with my legs as weak as when I looked at the sky and saw her being kidnapped, I start moving quickly and run.
But before I can even touch Melissa, who’s still standing at the ship's entrance, I hear the loud sound of a weapon commonly used by Faleus being fired.
I turn my head immediately and see the bastard holding her shot in the air as a warning.
"Don’t move, savage!" he orders, covering his whole face with a weird round protective gear.
"You can’t do this, he’s my male!" Melissa yells back, completely unafraid of the bastard, which is both good and bad at the same time.
It’s good because I like seeing how brave my female is, and bad because he still has a weapon and could harm her.
"First, you’ll step out slowly, and you’ll wait for us to close the ship. We don’t want any retaliation. Everyone stay where you are, or we’ll shoot!" the Faleu with the dark weapon warns, and I swallow hard.
It’s so hard to feel so small in front of a situation like this. I’m the general of the Azuri army, and I have to obey a male just because he has a technological weapon, not because he’s stronger or has more battle skills than me.
These Faleus have no honor.
"Alright, they can go in the ship, we’ll wait," Tagar, who’s behind me, responds with much more calm and speed than I could manage, and it seems to convince the Faleus and Melissa too, who is slowly escorted out of the ship, never taking her eyes off me.
But it’s so hard to see my human so close and still not touch her. She looks at me with teary eyes and her body trembling, and I just want to grab her and find out what happened, what they did to her inside that ship.
Until the metal door finally closes, and the ship takes off, and she can run to me at a speed that surprises me.
"Kaleo!" I’d recognize her voice anywhere, and my little human throws herself at me without any fear because she knows I’ll always catch her.
I hold her with all the care in the world, lifting her body off the ground, but also with all the anxiety in the world, pressing her against me. I inhale her sweet, familiar scent quickly, trembling with desperation, chills running through my entire body. Meanwhile, Melissa wraps her legs around my waist and presses herself against me.
I thought I’d lost her forever.
Meanwhile, the fire inside me grows more and more, and I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold myself back from heating up so much that my skin burns off. And I don’t want to burn Melissa, but I can’t stop myself.
"How are you back?! How did they return you to me?!" I barely recognize my own voice, it’s so choked and hoarse. It sounds like another male is speaking, a desperate and panicked male.
"I…" she begins to explain, but stops in the middle of her sentence, which terrifies me.
Maybe her explanation is really bad, but I’m prepared to support Melissa through whatever is necessary, and to seek revenge.
I hold her under the arms and pull her away from me, keeping her in the air so I can look at her face as she tells me the truth.
"What did they do to you, my little wife?"
"It’s that… I’m pregnant," she reveals, and my eyes widen so much they hurt as a cloud of dense smoke leaves my nose. "They can’t take me away with an Azuri in my belly." Her voice is very low, and she bites her bottom lip, like she always does when she’s nervous.
But hearing her words, I lose my breath and the strength in my legs, and I end up falling to my knees on the ground, but I quickly pull her body close to mine so she doesn’t get hurt.
"How… how can you be sure of that, Melisha?" I even whisper, and place her on my lap, facing me.
"Your sister said that this little spot on my hand meant I was pregnant." She places her hand in front of her face, and I see a small blue mark amidst the pale pink of her human skin. "And since the baby is Azuri, they can't take me away."
I am speechless and release another cloud of dark smoke.
"Are you really pregnant?" I frown, not sure if it's true or if she made it up to be returned. "Are you sure?"
We were in heat, and it's over now. I noticed our scent change. Melissa also said that my semen became less sweet. But this is already my third heat, so I thought it might take a little longer.
"Yes, they did a test, Kaleo. There's a pup in my belly, probably a girl." Melissa takes my hand and places it under her shirt, so I can touch her warm belly.
"Congratulations to both of you!" Tagar is able to speak before I can, as I remain motionless, sitting on the floor.
A child...
Melissa and I are going to have a child right on our first heat together, and it was this child that saved me from losing my human.
"Aren't you happy, Kaleo?" she asks, noticing I’m still with my hand on her belly, frozen.
"I'm the happiest Azuri in Selvaria, Melisha," I whisper, with thick tears emerging in my eyes once again. I then lower myself to meet our lips, and the shivers are so intense, it feels like the first time I’m kissing my female.
She responds with much enthusiasm, and I don’t even know how long we stay like that, touching and smelling each other. Having Melissa in my arms calms the fire within me, and I use the hand still resting on her belly to caress the pup that just saved her mother’s and father’s lives. Without my female, I wouldn't survive another hour.
"I love you so much, my little wife," I confess, pulling away from our kiss just enough to look at her face and make sure everything is real.
"I love you too, Kaleo." She responds, with the tip of her nose red now, and suddenly I feel a touch on my shoulder. Looking up, I realize it's Tagar, trying to get my attention.
"Shall we go ahead with the wedding then?" he asks, and when I look at my little wife to seek her approval, to see if she doesn’t want to postpone the ceremony after everything that’s happened, she is staring at me the way I hope to be looked at for the rest of my life.
