Chapter 83

Days blurred together as Alex continued his sadistic games. He visited her regularly, each time bringing a new method of torture, a new way to try and break her spirit. But Ava remained resilient, using the techniques Dominic had taught her to stay alert and look for escape opportunities.

One night, after a particularly brutal session, Alex left the door to her cell slightly ajar. Ava’s heart raced as she realized this could be her chance. She waited until she was sure Alex was gone, then slowly, painfully, she made her way to the door.

She pushed it open, wincing as the hinges creaked. The corridor beyond was empty, dimly lit by flickering lights. Ava took a deep breath, gathering her strength. She had to move quickly, had to find a way out before Alex realized she was gone.

She moved as silently as she could, her bare feet making almost no sound on the cold concrete floor. She rounded a corner and came face to face with a locked door. Ava’s heart sank, but she quickly scanned the area, looking for anything that could help her.

There, on a nearby table, was a set of keys. Ava’s hands shook as she picked them up, her mind racing. She tried each key in the lock, her breath catching each time one failed to turn.

Finally, one of the keys worked. Ava turned it slowly, the lock clicking open with a satisfying sound. She pushed the door open and found herself in a small, cluttered office. Papers and equipment were strewn about, but there was no sign of Alex.

Ava moved to the desk, her eyes scanning for anything useful. She found a map of the building, with several locations marked. One of the marks was labeled “Exit.” Ava’s heart leapt with hope. This was her chance.

She memorized the route, then turned to leave. But as she reached the door, she heard footsteps approaching. Her heart pounded as she looked for a place to hide. She spotted a large cabinet and quickly squeezed inside, pulling the door closed behind her.

The footsteps grew louder, then stopped just outside the door. Ava held her breath, praying that whoever it was wouldn’t find her. She heard the door open, then the sound of someone rifling through papers.

“Where is it?” Alex’s voice was filled with frustration. “I know it’s here somewhere.”

Ava’s heart raced as she listened to him search. She could hear him moving closer, the sound of papers being tossed aside growing louder. She pressed herself against the back of the cabinet, trying to make herself as small as possible.

Finally, Alex seemed to give up. “Damn it,” he muttered. “I’ll find it later.” He turned and left, the door slamming shut behind him.

Ava waited, her heart pounding in her chest. She counted to a hundred, then slowly opened the cabinet door. The office was empty, and the corridor beyond was silent.

She moved quickly, following the route she had memorized from the map. She rounded a corner and saw the exit door ahead. Her heart leapt with hope as she sprinted towards it, her bare feet slapping against the floor.

But as she reached the door, it flew open, and Alex stepped inside. “Going somewhere?” he sneered, blocking her path.

Ava’s heart sank. She was so close, yet Alex stood between her and freedom. But she refused to give up. She squared her shoulders, meeting his gaze with a defiant glare.

“You can’t keep me here forever,” she said, her voice steady despite the fear gnawing at her insides.

Alex’s smile widened. “We’ll see about that,” he said, stepping closer. “You’re mine, Ava. And I’m not letting you go.”

He grabbed her arm, his grip bruising. Ava struggled, but he was too strong. He dragged her back down the corridor, his laughter echoing off the walls.

Back in her cell, Ava slumped against the wall, tears streaming down her face. She had been so close, but Alex had thwarted her escape. She felt the weight of despair settling over her, but she quickly pushed it aside. She couldn’t afford to lose hope. She had to stay strong, for herself and for Dominic.

As the days turned into weeks, Ava’s resolve never wavered. She endured Alex’s torture, drawing strength from her memories of Dominic and the knowledge that he was out there, searching for her. She held on to the hope that he would find her, that he would bring her back to safety.

And through it all, Ava remained resilient. She refused to let Alex break her, using every ounce of strength and determination to stay hopeful. She knew that one day, Dominic would come for her, and when he did, she would be ready.

The night was far from over, and the road ahead was uncertain. But one thing was clear: Dominic and Ava’s love was a force that couldn’t be broken. No matter the obstacles, they would face them together, and they would come out stronger on the other side. With every passing moment, Ava’s determination grew stronger. She wouldn’t rest until she was free. She believed in Dominic, and that belief gave her the strength to keep fighting.
