Brother VS Brother
Brother VS Brother
\[Lucian’s POV\]
I move through Onyx Moon all the while avoiding what little squirmishes may be going on. Honestly, there aren’t very many, and that alone leaves me uneasy, but I know that once my father feels Crimson Moon’s men in the packhouse, things will change. For now, I would have to count this lack of obstruction as a blessing even if it meant that I was probably rushing straight for my possible death.
‘Don’t think like that.’ Aspen tells us as we round a corner. ‘We aren’t going to die. We are going to survive and spend the rest of our lives with our mate.’
‘Right.’ I agree.
Honestly, that single promise alone is the only thing that keeps me going as everything in me screams to turn around and go in the opposite direction of the danger that is waiting.
However, my time of nothing runs out fast, and as I round another corner, I find myself staring at Lux, who looks almost amused at seeing me.
“Well, I’ll be.” He chuckles, his gaze taking me in. “It seems that my little brother had some secrets.”
His voice is condescending as he speaks, and it makes me want to rip him to bits, but I know that he won’t make it that easy for me.
I knew Lux. I knew what he was capable of, and I knew that right now he was much stronger than I was since he had more years of experience with his wolf.
“It’s cute actually.” He continues, lazily heading toward me. “You think that even like that you will be able to defeat me.”
As he speaks, his eyes begin to glow a dangerous red, and I can feel his aura pressing against my skin, but I don’t care. If he thought that I would just bow down due to his show of dominance, he had another thing coming.
Even if this body wasn’t as strong as my original one, it didn’t mean that my mind wasn’t filled with memories of all the battles I fought. I also knew most of the moves that Lux would perform, so I could remain two steps ahead.
Letting a snarl rip through me, I prepare myself for his first attack, and when he moves, I feign confusion about what is happening, and as he reaches out to grab me, I attack, digging my teeth into his arm so a hiss of pain escapes him.
“You,” he growls, beginning to shift. “So, you want to pretend that you’re strong. Alright.”
Taking a few steps back, I watch as he begins to shift, but I don’t wait for him to complete his transformation. Instead, I surge forward, attacking while he is in his most vulnerable state, but I only get the chance to leave a few scratches along his side before he is easily shaking me off.
As I jump back once more, I hear what sounds almost like a laugh escape him, and then he’s moving, faster than I quite remember, but still not fast enough.
I easily dodge his attack and then move in with my own, but he manages to avoid that.
Together we move, attacking and retreating. Each of us attempting to obtain dominance over the other. With each move we manage to deal minimal damage, but it is enough to fill the air with the scent of blood, and that scent alone draws in some of Lux’s goonies, who are more than ready to join in on the attack.
Cursing my smaller stature, I avoid one, two, and not the third goonies attack, but even then I’m able to gain the upper hand as I take advantage of my size and ability to make quicker movements than them.
Once I have him on his back, I dig my claws deep into his throat and then jump back as his friends try to take advantage of my momentary distraction.
Not a chance. I hiss, letting my gaze travel from one opponent to the other. You’re not going to be able to take me out that easily.
This was the determining battle about whether or not Pandora and I would be returning to a peaceful future or one filled with war, and I had no intention of allowing anything other than happiness to happen.
Even if it meant I had to kill a million men and rebuild Onyx Moon from the ground up, I was more than willing to do it.
Get out of my way! I hiss, avoiding the two goonies that remains attacks. Let me get to your bastard leader.
Lux was a coward to be letting these assholes fight his battle, but if he thought that I wouldn’t be able to get to him, he was wrong. Even if I had to sacrifice a limb to get through, I would do it, because he has been my ultimate target since long ago.
It’s time to end this. I think, letting Aspen’s power rush into me so that my body begins to radiate with golden light, and I know that this is the true power that I was meant to possess.
It leaves me feeling light and almost like I’m in a trance as I watch my opponents and realize that they seem to be moving slower than before. It’s like time is slowing down, but my movements remain just as fast as they once were, if not faster, and when I reach the first goonie, I easily land my blows.
Again and again, I attack, scratching and biting anywhere I can get, and when the goonies are finally out of my way, I look to Lux, who, for the first time since our fight began, looks uncomfortable.
I have to say, I like that look on his face. It is as if he realizes that the one he is up against isn’t beneath him but on the same page as him or even above. It is a look that I’ve only ever seen on the battlefield and never once from Lux, but it isn’t enough.
I don’t just want to see the look of fear on his face while he is being taken down by me. Instead, I want to see the look of complete and utter defeat as the life slowly begins to drain from his eyes.
I just have to make this want happen. I think, moving toward him as he lets out a howl in an attempt to bring more goonies here. I want to let all these years of hate and resentment loose in one final blow against the bastard in front of me, and when I reach him, I don’t hesitate to dig my claws into his neck.
