Chapter 47
Chapter 47
Nyra's POV
I stood up reluctantly and followed him through the door. I didn't think his mystic room would actually be an underground room in the hospital, but I didn't think he would build it in his house either.
“You showed Fiona this?” I asked, already curious as to what Fiona thought of a man she barely knew taking her through a dark hallway to a place he called ‘Mystical.'
“Not this one, the one upstairs looks more human.”
“You have two?” my tone changed.
“I already have two lives. I guess it's a habit.”
Past the stairs and in a short corridor, he opened the door at the end of the corridor and I came into view with a large room, shelves that contained strange objects and potions in bottles that were on the tables.
There was a harsh scent that I couldn't tell where it was from. I glanced at the other end of the room and there was then the figure of a girl. I furrowed my brows.
Brown hair and seemed like she was just sixteen, she stood still in front of the board, painting. She had her back against us, even after all the noise we made while stepping in.
“Is that one of your experiments?” Concluding that she couldn't be normal.
He chuckled
“You're funny, but that is Celeste, and she's a witch.”
I frowned
“You keep a sixteen-year-old locked here as your slave?”
“Celeste is eighteen, and she can hear you, besides you think I suppress my wolf form by taking human suppressants?” he paused. “Celeste here, infuses it with magic, so my wolf doesn't ever go haywire.”
I glanced at the shelves again before turning to him.
“Nyra, right?” I heard her voice, “Felt your power before your presence,” the girl said, still painting.
Meanwhile, I had a confusing expression, one that was curious to know how she knew my name.
“Hmm, Nyra. Now that's a wolf-like name,” Ethan smirked.
“And you, Mr Ethan, you promised you wouldn't be here till next week. I remember you taking all my voodoo dolls upstairs as reassurance.”
And that was when she turned around, she was pretty and had a very intimidating look.
“I know I promised, but she needs your help.”
And that was when she glanced at me, locking gazes. She studied me and came forward to hold my hand. Suddenly, I felt my blood stir and the lights in the room started to flicker.
“You're special,” she closed her eyes and said, but I had a frown on my face.
“I came here for a diagnosis, but at tarot card reading,” I argued.
“Only humans get diagnosed and don't talk. She doesn't like it,” Ethan instructed, so I decided to keep shut even when I had a lot of things to say.
“You come from a very powerful bloodline,” she closed her eyes and said again. I could laugh, but the room became intense and all I had to do was to cross Ethan with another glare.
“What is she saying?" I said softly.
“Stop talking.” He instructed him again.
“I don't know…. Everything seems blur I can't really see it but you…. You are one of the biggest threats to the werewolf world.”
I arched my brow
“You have powers in your veins so powerful it can destroy so many things if not wielded properly and, by my vision, it's going to surge through you fully by the blood moon.”
I genuinely didn't know what exactly was going on, it felt like a circus, but at the same time not.
“That's in some days,” Ethan said, thoughtfully. “It explains why you've been acting up,” he turned to me.
“Hold on,” I tried to wiggle my hands free of her grip. “You guys do not understand what I'm trying to say…. I was born wolfless.”
“The more reasonable why it's coming out fully now,” Celeste interrupted.
My frown deepened
“So what? You're telling me that one day I'm an ordinary wolf and the next day I have this powerful royal blood running through my veins that I know nothing about.”
I tried to keep my tone in check, but this wasn't what I asked for.
Celeste wasn't smiling either, what confused me was how serious the little witch sounded.
“I get it,” she started.” You're confused, I was a human till I found out I was a witch… what I'm saying is that, yes, your life could change in a day without you realizing it.”
Ethan arched his brows
“Celeste, what do you mean?”
She turned to him
“After the blood moon, she's no longer safe, dangerous people are coming for the type of power she has, and you have to distance yourself from her if you don't want to get killed.”
I stared at her like she didn't know what she was talking about.
“We are talking about a bloodline so rare….”
“Hold on a moment,” I turned to Ethan, “Why does this all feel like I'm in some kind of circus? I came here because I was feeling weird… now all of this? If you guys are trying to scare me, then today is not your lucky day. What happened to some suppressants.….?”
“It won't suppress destiny, Nyra,” she cut in.
“Okay, and you need to shut up and go to college and how did you even know my name, did he tell you?” I snapped.
“I'm a witch. I know everything,” she said curtly, and just when I wanted to say something else.
Suddenly, my phone started to ring out loud, and I reached for it in my bag and saw it was Finn.
Bad timing but a good way to end the discussion.
“Excuse me, I have to take this call,” I told them before going to the other end of the room and placing the phone on my ear.
“Hey Finn, how are you?” I tried to sound warm and bubbly.
“Yeah, I'm just calling to ask you if you're still up for it… I mean I'm dressed, and I haven't even gotten any calls from you.”
“It?”
“What was it?”
I pondered; it took me more than a few seconds to realize that it was about dinner.
“Oh yeah, I'm up for dinner night, totally…exactly I...” I tried to say before he cut in.
“Did you forget?”
“Nooo”, I scoffed and laughed hysterically. “How can I ever do that? I couldn't ever forget I'm coming right now,” I assured him.
“Okay good,” his tone sounded light. “I believe you remember the address or should I text it to you again?”
“Yeah, I think you should text me that address again. I just don't know where you sent the last one.”
He agreed, and I hung up before coming back to face them both.
“You know what, maybe it was a good decision to come here. I am very delighted with the new stuff I just learned about myself,” faking a smile as I left through the door, hoping I would remember all the dark corners we went through.
“She'll be back” Celeste said curtly.
“I don't even want her to,” Ethan scoffed, but his eyes lingered on the door with a shadow of unease, because deep down, he already knew the next time Nyra returned, nothing in their world would ever be the same.
