Chapter 32

Chapter 32
Nyra’s POV

The heat burnt me a bit, but then the burn of the embarrassment was worse than anything else at the moment. I was beginning to wonder if that was his human way of welcoming me to the company.

I was almost dying from the eyes that were on me, and I really needed someone to say or do something to make the awkward silence end.

“Oh jeez… I’m really sorry…” he said as he quickly took out something and was about to try wiping the mess he had made on my body. But then, he stopped as he realized that he would be committing an even bigger blunder if he was going to wipe my breasts by himself. “Oh gosh…” he cussed under his breath, as he was starting to feel some of the embarrassment himself.

“I’ll help…” Ella offered instantly as she came over to where I was and took me by the hand. “Let’s go somewhere and get you cleaned.”

“I am so sorry…” the young man just couldn't stop apologizing as he trailed behind. “I promise I had no idea you were coming. I was just…”

"Maybe we all need to honk whenever we are coming through so you can hear, Finn…” Ella teased as she led me to what looked like a changing room. “Now, if you don’t mind, can you give us some privacy?”

The young man looked so miserable as he stopped outside the door. “I’m really sorry I…”

Ella shut the door on him as he was still giving the concluding parts of his apology. As much as I felt embarrassed, I felt really bad for him, as the miserable look on his face stayed on my mind, even though the door was now shut on him.

But then, my complicated feelings of sadness evaporated as soon as I set my eyes on the vast array of clothes in front of me. It was breathtaking to see so many beautiful clothes hanging in one large space. I just wanted to bring down each of them and study them closely for the details.

“Alright, Tina…” Ella said in a friendly tone as she put down Fiona’s bag which she was still holding. “Oh shoot… I had no idea I was still holding this. Let’s hurry, so I can go give this to Miss Fiona. Let’s get you a black shirt.”

‘What’s this place?” I just couldn't hold the curiosity anymore as I had forgotten completely about the coffee on my shirt.

“Well…it’s like an archive of past designs and just some random clothes you could use for situations like yours.” She said as she walked deeper into the room where the clothes were demarcated by isles. Almost like they were all grouped meticulously.

“This must have taken a whole lot of effort to put together.” I said, as I followed her. “Who’s that guy, by the way?”

“You mean, Finn… he’s one of the top designers here. Quite a genius, but for some reason, he’s been very clumsy today. When he’s not spilling coffee on newcomers, he’s making wonderful designs even better than the ones you see here.”

I was starting to get a bit anxious to get out of there to meet other designers like Finn. In my mind, I was already imagining making some of the most captivating clothes for Fiona, even before I had threaded the first needle.

“There it is… the black shirts.” She sounded excited, like she had come across some sort of treasure. “Let's go get them at once…so sorry that all of these had to happen on your first day.”

“It's all right. It's not that big of a deal, after all, it's just a shirt.” I was just happy to be there at least, and not on the run from a mad rogue Alpha. “Thanks a lot for helping me with this.”

“Just doing my job. From the way you stared at these clothes, you look like you know quite a couple of things about fashion. Or better put, you have a passion for fashion…”

We both laughed at that as it was just too perfect. I still didn't get why Fiona had chosen to name her brand that. It was quite too long for a brand name, but then it was what it was.

“Quite a name if you ask me…” I said as I took off the moist shirt which was now making me feel a bit cold under the air conditioning. “But I admire the rhyme. How long have you been working here?”

“About a year now,” Ella replied with so much enthusiasm, and it was beginning to look like I was about to make my first friend. “So, what about you? What made you choose to work here in spite of other fashion companies way ahead of this one?”

“Well, it's more like this place kind of chose me…” I replied with a smile as I slipped into the shirt. I was going to try my best to keep the conversation from veering off to where I had come from. Anything but that would do at the moment. “So, what do you think?” I made sure to get dressed as quickly as possible so we could end the conversation instantly.

“It's quite nice. Fits you just as well as the other one,” she said, nodding. “Quite a shape you've got there. A perfect hourglass…just as good as of our models. You look like you are ready for the runway…”

“Really…?” I was blushing terribly as it was obvious that humans had their way with words way better than alphas did. I just didn't know why I was constantly comparing them in my head, but I couldn't help it. “Thanks a lot…”

“Let's get going then. I'm sure Miss Fiona will be worried about you by now,” Ella said, leading the way to the door, which you opened instantly only to show that Finn had been standing there all that time. “For crying out loud, Finn…you scared the living daylights out of me. What are you doing here?”

“Nothing…just try to make sure you are okay…” Finn replied, looking still embarrassed. Then he turned to me with that sorry look on his face. “I'm so sorry I…”

“She has an interview to crack, and I don't think she will be in the mood for any more of your apologies…”

“Huh…?” I didn't believe my ears. “Interview…?” My pulse slammed hard against my ribs, the word echoing like a thunderclap inside me, and for the first time since I’d walked through those doors, I realized something far bigger, far darker, was about to unfold, waiting just beyond this moment.
