Chapter 55 55
Chapter 55 55
“Gosh!! I'm free,” Sheila grinned widely, resting back on the seat as the cab driver drove her to Mira's apartment.
Her mind quickly made a rush, remembering how Celeste had helped her.
____
“Is there a blind spot here?” She inquired and Celeste gasped, eyes flickering open in shock.
That single expression from her ignited something in Sheila and she knew instantly that Celeste must have a clue. She sighed then chuckled.
“Can you show me around then?” She asked instead and Celeste hurriedly nodded.
As they walked through the garden, Celeste wouldn't stop talking and pointing at the flowers to Sheila who seemed lost, her gaze occasionally landing on her wristwatch at intervals.
She sighed softly, then glanced at Celeste with a smile, struggling to start up another conversation with her.
An idea struck her mind and Sheila smiled, turning to her. “Do you have a sister? Or a friend, even?” She asked and Celeste's expression fell.
“I have a sister but sadly, I'm not close to her. She seemed to have forgotten me,” she muttered softly, her voice draped with sadness.
Sheila's stomach plummeted in her chest as she regretted asking her the question.
It was stupid of her to think that everyone has a happy home or even a caring sister and cousin like Mira.
She must have been clueless. But Celeste's next words made Sheila's eyes snap in bewilderment.
“Surprisingly, I still love her and I wish she one day remember that she has a young sister,” She added with a sad smile and Sheila stroked her hair.
“She will, trust me.” She assured Celeste but immediately added.
“How would you feel if your sister is suddenly sick and needs to see you but your boss holds you back from going?” Sheila sensitively asked, being careful not to raise suspicion.
“The boss is really kind, he only acts tough. So I don't think he can prevent me from going,” Celeste answered, her voice draped in sincerity.
“I know he's a good man. Of course he's my husband,” she grinned. “But what if it happens? You know people change a lot,” she said and Celeste took her bottom lip in, thinking carefully.
The silence stretched as Celeste stood still, struggling to come up with something. Sheila's throat bubbled, her ears itching to hear Celeste say something.
Finally, Celeste heaved. “Well I think,” she began and Sheila nodded, nudging at her to continue.
That's it. They're close already, so fúcking close to achieving something.
“I'll escape through a blind spot,” She blurted with a nod and Sheila smiled widely.
There's a blind spot!! There is.
“A blind spot? Here?” she narrowed her gaze and Celeste nodded, but then gasped out when the realization of what she did slammed into her like a tidal wave.
“No, no, there's no blind spot.” she dismissed, lips trembling nervously.
Sheila stepped closer to her then held her shoulder, “Do you know why I asked you that? Because I'm trapped. My sister needs my help and I can't watch her—” She sniffled and Celeste sighed.
“It's locked and Kenzie is the only one that has access to it since she's the most trusted,” she muttered softly.
_____
Sheila giggled softly. How Celeste got hold of the key is still a mystery to her, but the bottom line is she's finally doing her thing.
Arthur can go fuck himself if he's really pained. She doesn't care nor will she care in the future.
Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted when the driver turned to her, “We're at your destination,” he informed and Sheila blinked, glancing at through the window and for real, she was already in front of Mira's apartment.
She pulled out some new cash from her purse, giving it to the driver and climbed down from the car, already rushing in.
“Your change ma'am,” the driver shouted behind her.
Sheila didn't even hear the driver's words as she beeped Mira's door and it opened, revealing Mira in her outfit, same as Sheila's.
They stuck hands together then Mira threw herself on Sheila's body, hugging her sisterly.
“I was scared you wouldn't come,” She scoffed when she broke the hug and Sheila smiled widely.
“Told you I was going to come. Where are the tickets? We're late already please,” Sheila muttered with a grin.
Mira smirked then swirled the tickets on Sheila's face. Without much chatting, they entered Sheila's car and drove off, heading to a cinema.
Sheila was stuffing popcorn into her mouth as they rushed in, then the cinema's door closed, locking those that would eventually come late outside.
They found space at the back and settled down. The lights in the room finally went off and the large projector came on, the video loading immediately.
Mira shot out her hand and began picking popcorn from Sheila's bowl, their gazes still fixed to the screen.
The movie finally came on and Sheila smiled, reeling back against her seat.
Probably her type of movie. The female lead is a rich heiress, strong and bossy, and doesn't take shit from anybody.
While the male lead wasn't your typical possessive type, he was timid, a nerd and the female leads secretary.
This is what she loves. She threw in another popcorn into her mouth as the plot thickened, their asses moving in tension.
The movie lasted roughly for five hours and as the movie ended, heavy tears slipped out of Sheila's eyes in Mira's shock.
“Why would she die?” Sheila sniffled, wiping her tears and Mira smiled, still stunned.
Quite alright that the movie was a terrible one. The female lead was killed by the male lead on the day they were supposed to marry.
It was even devastating to find out the female lead was the villain and the male lead wasn't weak after all. He came for revenge which he accomplished. The female lead had killed his family and made away with his family's wealth.
He waited for years and even had to undergo plastic surgery to deceive the female lead.
The movie was the only thing dancing on the lips of everyone as they walked out of the cinema, their discussion impregnating the air.
Sheila's own was worse because she couldn't stop groaning. The female lead betrayed her trust.
Mira stopped walking then glanced at Sheila, “Seriously?” she huffed, crossing her arms with a glare.
“You'll keep groaning without sparing me a glance, is that it?” Mira continued and Sheila huffed with an eye roll.
“I'm still in shock, whatever.” She rolled eyes and Mira scoffed.
“In shock? Over a fictional movie? Oh my Sheila, stop being dramatic please.” Mira taunted, finally pulling Sheila as they continued walking.
They got back inside the car and Sheila leaned back, shutting her eyes. “I seriously don't want to go back to that damn house, at least —not tonight.” She took her bottom lip in and Mira turned to her.
“Is Arthur giving you problems already? It's just been three days since you moved in with him, what's up?” Mira demanded and Sheila opened her eyes, flashing Mira a smile.
It's complicated and she knows, but what she doesn't plan is to get Mira involved in this. She knows who Mira is and how she'll get worked up, thinking about her well-being when she was no longer a kid.
She patted Mira's shoulder, “He's always been a jerk, nothing new.” she shrugged and Mira nodded. She ignited the car back to life and tried to drive off but then paused.
“My house, or an eatery?” Mira grinned and Sheila smirked.
“An eatery please, your house comes later.” Sheila winked and Mira finally moved the car.
It wasn't long when they stopped in front of a local eatery, that's where Sheila demanded the food from.
As their orders arrived, they gossiped and talked about random stuff, discussing and grinning internally.
Their smiles.
Their giggles.
It rented the air, choking, laughing as they stuffed their mouths with food, unknown to them that it was going to be their last moment, unknown to Sheila that something even more darker might take place today.
Suddenly, Sheila's phone beeped from the table, slicing through their discussion then a pause.
Mira picked a meatball and threw it into her mouth while Sheila picked her phone to see it was Arthur that sent the message.
Her stomach twisted and her face fell as her eyes dilated.
20 missed calls from Arthur and a single message, the one he just sent.
–>Pick your damn call Sheila, now that I'm still nice.
The text sent shivers down Sheila's spine and her grip on her phone tightened, heart pulsating.
What had happened? Did he find out she left the house against his order?
“Are you okay?” Mira asked and Sheila smiled, keeping back the phone to continue eating.
“Wrong message obviously,” She waved her finger and Mira forced a nod, clearly not buying Sheila's words.
Something must have happened but Sheila is holding back from sharing any of it with her.
They continued eating but the vibes and happiness which was floating in the air suddenly disappeared and everything now feels the same.
Sheila's phone screen came on again, this time a call from Arthur but Sheila ignored the persistent ringing of the phone, her fingers slightly trembling under the table.
“Your phone is ringing, Sheila.” Mira reminded and Sheila nodded,
“I know,” she replied.
The call ended with another text. Mira cast Sheila a suspicious gaze who grunted then grabbed the phone.
“I told you it's the wrong message,” She said with an eye roll, attempting to keep back her phone but somehow, her fingers moved on their own, clicking the message.
–> 𝙄𝙛 𝙄 𝙙𝙤𝙣'𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣 10 𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙨, 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙞𝙚𝙨. 𝙄 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙜𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙖cc𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩.
The message read. Sheila's heart stopped beating and she stood sharply, Celeste's innocent face flashing through her eyes.
No, that girl is not dying because of her.
Before Mira could even say a word, Sheila was already rushing out of the eatery. She flagged down a cab then hopped in, heart slamming in her chest as she closed her eyes, her lips moving as she muttered silent prayers.
