Chapter 43 43
Chapter 43 43
“Careful please,” Chloe's voice came from the living room as she helped her mom—Mrs. Winfrey to settle down.
Jacob gasped from his hiding spot, recognizing the voice to be Chloe's. He hissed, coming out from the spot, his blood boiling with rage.
Did he just make a fool of himself?!
As he approached where they were, his expression turned sour and the anger brewing in his veins multiplied.
“Chloe,” he snarled and Chloe snapped her gaze towards him, then scoffed out loud, eyes blazing with deep fury.
Oh, the all knowing troublesome son was back? Without even paying the ransom? And she almost lost her mom?
Crazy!!
Feeling ignored, Jacob grabbed her arms, roughly turning her towards him.
“Where did you go with mom? And what's with the spoiled foodstuffs?” he scowled and Chloe shot him an angry glare.
“I really don't have enough energy for you, Jacob.” Her voice was calm, but yet laced with a tone which made Jacob's neck stiffen in anger.
“Will you answer me and stop…”
“Just stop already, Jacob. You didn't even acknowledge my presence and all you could think of was yelling at your sister.” Jacob was still talking when Mrs. Winfrey cut him off, her voice laced with obvious disappointment.
Feeling displeased, Jacob shot Chloe an angry glare before settling beside his mother, “Where were you both? I was actually worried,” he muttered calmly, Chloe rolled eyes at him.
Mrs Winfrey sighed, “Blame Sheila for everything that happened.” She blurted out with anger.
Jacob's brow squinted, “Sheila?” he narrowed his gaze.
“Sheila of course!! When you got into trouble, where were you expecting us to get the cash from?” Chloe snapped at him, eyes blazing with fury.
“And your dumbass brain couldn't tell you that Sheila won't spare you a dime?” Jacob retorted back with a scoff, teeth clenched and jaw hardened.
“And whose fault was —”
“Enough of the ranting you two!! I just got discharged from the hospital and this is what I face?” She yelled at them, her face twisting in disbelief.
Jacob's head banged and he glanced up at his mother, “Hospital?”
“Sheila attacked her and she was admitted in the hospital,” Chloe bluffed and Jacob's expression turned thick, his fist balling tightly.
“Sheila Grey!!” he cussed inwardly, chest squeezing in hatred.

Sheila returned back home earlier than she Intended to because of the text Fleur had sent, requesting that she meet up with Arthur later in the night by 7pm.
Mira was hooked up in her system, her fingers dancing professionally on the keyboard as she typed down her next chapter for one of her popular books ‘Accidental kiss with my stepbrother'—a forbidden, age gap romance that has and is selling well in the writing industry.
Mira's gaze left her laptop screen to Sheila who just walked in, “Have an appointment? You're back way too early,” Mira murmured, grabbing the glass of pineapple juice beside her.
Sheila shrugged, then sat down on the bed. “One Fleur dude met me…” Sheila was still talking when Mira choked on her drink, the contents pouring out of her mouth.
Fleur? The insatiable nerd?
Sheila shot her a long, suspenseful glare, “Do you know him?” she narrowed her gaze slightly at Mira who was wiping her lips.
Mira coughed briefly, then turned to Sheila. “Well, he's the dude I had a night thingy on the night of your ’single again party’,” She pinched the bridge of her nose and Sheila gasped, eyes wide in utmost shock.
“You mean that nerd was the dude that drove you straight to cloud nine? The one you had a bang bros…..” Sheila paused, fanning herself with her hands as the room suddenly felt hot.
“Oh, whatever Sheila. A night thingy, that's what it is. No fucking strings attached,” Mira grunted with an eye roll.
Why was she being dramatic over it?!
“I know, a night thingy.” Sheila scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Anyways, he met me, seems like he's kind of linked to Arthur. Maybe an assistant? A bodyguard? I don't really know,” She collapsed back on the bed and Mira nodded, sipping her juice slowly as she could.
“And to think that Arthur sent him to speak on his behalf, I'm awed,” Sheila rolled to the other side of the bed, facing Mira.
“I seriously don't understand what you're saying, you know?” Mira kept the glass of juice and crossed her arms.
“It was expected. What I'm saying is, Arthur needs my help just as much as I need his,” She said slowly.
“And now he said to meet up by 7,” She pressed her lips together and Mira leaned in.
“He said? Why would he suddenly want to meet you after….”
Sheila cut in, “No Mira, I was actually the one that brought up the idea. Told Fleur to let him know that if he wants me to reconsider, he has to pay a price and the price is what he needs to hear himself,” She clarified.
“Price? You're now calling the cards? What price does Arthur Wilson have to pay though?” Mira grinned and Sheila chuckled.
“Well, you have to take a chill pill till I'm back,” Sheila shrugged with a light smile then stood.
“Bitch!!” Mira cussed funnily, watching as Sheila walked into the bathroom.
Before Sheila closed the bathroom door, she turned to Mira and raised her middle finger, “Fuck you a thousand times,” She smirked then banged the door close.
An hour later, Sheila was already dressed to leave—this time, Mira didn't force her to wear what she didn't want to.
Sheila simply put on a long flowy black skirt and white blouse, statement earrings sitting beautifully on her ears.
She wanted to look simple, yet moderate. With one glance at her reflection in the mirror, she took her purse and car keys.
“I hope there'll be enough gist to keep the rest of the nights busy,” Mira jibed as Sheila walked to the door.
“How about you focus on your nerdy, insatiable Fleur? You know, the house is enough to accommodate any style,” Sheila taunted and Mira gasped.
“You’re crazy,” She huffed.
“Thanks baby,” She winked and finally left the room.
On getting outside the house, she was surprised to see a waiting car ready to pick her up.
“Arthur Wilson demanded that I pick you up, ma'am,” the driver pointed towards the waiting car.
Sheila scoffed, “I have my car and I can find my way to the restaurant, can you kindly tell your boss that?” Sheila said, her tone calm but laced with disbelief.
What was that act from Arthur?
“I’m sorry ma'am but he said not to return back without…”
“I’m not going with you, okay? Can Arthur stop already?” Sheila huffed angrily, clearly pissed off as she glared at the driver.
The driver bowed respectfully, “My job is at stake right now and if I fail to bring you to the restaurant, I might consider getting a good replacement for myself,” he calmly said.
Sheila's brows knitted and her jaw hardened,
“Seriously?” She huffed, then glanced at the driver who was still bowing respectfully.
“Call him,” She ordered angrily.
“Huh?” The confused driver raised a brow, glancing up at her.
“Call your boss right now,” Sheila's fingers curled in anger.
“No need to do that, I'm here, little one,” The voice filtered out slowly, his black, expensive polished shoe touching the floor.
