Chapter 42 You Crazy Woman!
Chapter 42 You Crazy Woman!
Leah suddenly grabbed a knife from nearby and pierced her abdomen.
Her blood spurted out instantly.
"Grandma!" Ellie screamed.
She pounded frantically on the window, but she couldn't break it open.
Leah's voice came from inside.
"Ellie, don't worry about me! Run! Don't feel guilty!"
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Leah raised the knife and aimed it at her heart.
"Ellie! Go! Run!" she shouted.
The floor was covered in crimson blood.
A chorus of screams erupted all around.
The servants panicked, scrambling to find keys and unlock the door.
They rushed inside.
Ellie trembled as she watched the scene in front of her helplessly.
Her heart pounding, she sprinted toward the Ward family's front gate and pulled out her phone.
Before she could dash through the gate, an arm shot out and blocked her path.
Ellie crashed to the ground.
Jack pinned her down with one hand, snatched her phone, and dragged her toward the side yard!
Ellie's fingertips trembled as she fished a metal hairpin out of her pocket.
She plunged it into his arm.
Jack roared in anger, snatched the hairpin from her hand, and tossed it aside.
His arm was covered in blood as he dragged her brutally into the warehouse.
BANG!
The door slammed shut.
Ellie gasped for air, struggling to steady her pounding heart.
The sounds of utter chaos echoed from the Ward household.
Ambulance sirens, hurried footsteps, and hysterical screams filled the air.
After hours of chaos, everything fell silent.
Late at night, the warehouse door swung open.
Nora walked in, her face icy, and a belt clutched in her hand.
Ellie looked up, her expression impassive.
CRACK!
Nora flicked her wrist, and the belt snapped against the floor. "You're not even afraid of this? You really have the nerve!"
"Where's my grandmother?" Ellie asked, her voice dry.
"Dead!" Nora sneered. "Your Achilles' heel is finally gone!"
Ellie lowered her eyes.
"You really are cold-blooded. What happened to the bond between grandmother and granddaughter? You didn't shed a single tear during that scene. Look at your face now. I don't see any sadness or grief!" Nora sneered.
"Grandmother paved a path for me with her life," Ellie said calmly.
"Are you showing off how favored you are?" Nora snarled. "A cold-blooded woman like you deserves to be locked up here!"
Ignoring her, Ellie kept her head bowed.
"Speak! Beg for mercy! Hurry up! Beg me!"
The belt cracked through the air with a sharp "snap."
"Ellie! You slut! You're just like your mother—a slut who steals other people's husbands!" Nora screamed, her hands still lashing out.
Ellie spoke, her voice trembling with a mix of fear and defiance. "My name isn't Ellie... My name is Carly Grace!"
Nora lunged forward and slapped her hard across the face. "Shut up! You are Ellie! You're the slutty daughter of a stinking actor! Your mother is a lousy actress! You have lowly blood running through your veins!"
The blow sent Ellie reeling, her cheek burning with pain, breath catching in her throat.
"A lousy actress?" she chuckled. "My mother is a National First-Class Actress."
Ellie lifted her head, her eyes locking onto the woman before her.
Nora's pupils shrank, her face twisting in disbelief and fury.
She began kicking and punching frantically. "Shut up! How can you compare to me?! I'm from distinguished families, you know?"
Ellie suddenly laughed, a bright note in the tension. Her anger had shifted into a cold amusement.
"What are you laughing at?!" Nora stared at her in horror.
"I'm laughing at how stupid you are!"
"You!"
"A girl from a distinguished family with an empty head!" Ellie stared at her.
Nora's face flushed with rage, and her fists clenched at her sides.
Her pupils trembled violently as she lunged forward. "I'm going to kill you!"
She raised the belt and lashed out with all her might.
Ellie reached out and grabbed one end of the belt.
A sharp tug!
Nora stumbled forward and fell right in front of Ellie.
Ellie's shackled hand wrapped around her neck, coiling the chain around her.
"Let me go!" Nora struggled frantically.
Ellie's hands trembled as she twisted the chain tighter, jaw clenched with determination and pain.
The wound on her wrist split deeper, and blood dripped down the chain.
Nora kicked out, screaming, "Are you fucking crazy? Are you trying to kill me?"
Ellie gasped for breath and sneered, "So what if I kill you?"
Suddenly, the chain tightened, choking Nora.
Red marks appeared on her neck, and blood began to ooze out in beads.
"The Rivera beast should learn to shut its mouth," Ellie rasped.
Nora kicked and clawed frantically, wild with panic, but Ellie only tightened her grip.
Suddenly, the warehouse door swung open.
Jack burst in, pried Ellie's hands apart, and pulled Nora into his arms.
The deep, crimson mark around Nora's neck stood out—Jack's face paled at the sight.
She collapsed into his arms, coughing violently.
Ellie merely glanced at her, her expression now empty and detached, then dragged the chains as she sat against the wall, her earlier fire replaced by numbness.
Jack escorted Nora out, then glared furiously at Ellie.
"You're crazy!" Jack snapped.
Ignoring him, Ellie hugged her knees and sat on the floor.
"How many times have I told you to know your place? Are you going to kill Noah?" Jack roared.
Ellie turned her head away and let out a mocking chuckle.
He instantly flew into a rage. "What are you laughing at?"
He grabbed her by the collar.
"I'm laughing because your days are numbered."
He grabbed the belt and lashed it hard against the floor. "Do you want another beating? I'll whip you for three whole days!"
Ellie didn't even flinch. "Whatever."
His chest heaved violently with anger and frustration, unable to calm down after the confrontation.
Finally, he slammed the door shut and locked it.
Ellie hung her head. Her anger subsided, replaced with confusion as her mind raced. What kind of shady dealings were they hiding in Grandmother's backyard?
