Chapter 15
Rhyland’s POV
Before I could utter another word, Raven was pushing past me headed straight for the door.
“Raven, w-,” I reached my hand out to grab her wrist but as soon as my palm touched her skin I jerked back. Her skin was scorching to the touch.
So she did have three powers, fire, air, and water. Were there more I didn’t know about?
She whipped her head around and gleam of bright blue rimmed around her almost black colored eyes, my heart stuttered for a slight moment but I tried to calm myself.
Without speaking a word she turned back towards the hallway and made her way down it, both Eladia and myself followed quickly behind her.
“Raven please it’s not that big of a deal, it was my fault really I-,”
She was silenced by a hard gust of wind that flew past her face, taking her breath for a quick moment.
Raven’s steps didn’t faulter and the sheer confidence that radiated off of her would have any person cowering in a corner somewhere.
The only problem was that I knew if she made a scene my father would have her head, and I’d do everything in my power to stray from that.
“I don’t think-,” I started but shut my mouth when she swiveled around to face me, the bright blue even more alluring than before.
“You’re right, you royals don’t think. You allow everyone to do everything for you but I’m going to show you how to handle things yourself.”
My eyes hardened at her words but she paid no mind to it and continued stalking down towards the garden area outside.
I spotted Queen Fara admiring the flowers infront of her before Raven interrupted her.
“Where can I find Jasmine?” She seethed, using no title to her name or anything.
Queen Fara looked slightly confused and when her eyes connected with Raven she gasped. She let go of the flower she had been holding and pressed her hands to Raven’s cheeks gently.
The gesture was something odd, it was surely not something a person would do if they had just met which told me the two had to be familiar with one another.
“How long has her eyes been like this?” She spoke up to me and I knew she was referring to the light blue ring around the iris.
“Maybe five or ten minutes, not long at all. Why? What’s happening?” I asked and unconsciously stepped a tad bit closer to Raven.
With a huff, Queen Fara looked towards me.
“As you already know she’s a blue blood, that type of blood holds a lot of power and sometimes it’s too strong for the host to hold. The elements combined and overthrow the host, creating this luminescent blue around the eye and if not stopped soon, her blood could be her downfall.”
I stilled at her words and when I looked back towards Raven, I found her with eyes locked on Jasmine down by the stables.
“Shit! How do I stop it??” I asked quickly, about to dart towards her once I recieved an answer.
“It varies from person to person. You might want to catch up to her before your bride-to-be gets slaughtered.” She spoke nonchalantly and I furrowed my brows, bride to be? Jasmine?
I tried to throw her words in the back of my mind and rushed down towards her figure.
“Raven!” I shout but she continued her steps towards the unknowing Princess, it was like watching a hunter prowling towards its prey that had no idea the danger it was in.
Think Rhyland, think.
I held out my hand and pointed it towards Raven, usually it took me to stare into a person’s eyes to get inside their heads but this was a do or die moment.
Nothing.
My legs carried me through the walkway and straight towards Raven, who had made it to Jasmine. A shrill shriek filled the air as Raven’s hand went straight for Jasmine and clasped around her neck.
“You think you’re above everyone, don’t you!? You think it’s okay to hit innocent minors?!”
With a sinister tone, a laugh erupted from Raven and in that moment I saw complete terror rush over Jasmine’s facial expressions.
“Let’s see you try it with me.” She dropped her grip on Jasmine’s neck and a loud intake of air came from her.
“You’re crazy! Someone get this bitch away from me! Guar-,” Her shout was cut off as I watched Raven contorted wind directly from Jasmine, the wind began blowing violently around me and a shout from above caught me off guard.
“Raven!” I knew the voice to be Cassius, thank the heavens.
I tried to push through the harsh winds, finding my footing was a task all by itself but I managed to steady myself enough to make it a few feet from me.
Jasmine’s eyes were wide and glued to Raven, who didn’t seem to give a fuck that she was about to kill someone.
I reached my powers out again, and this time I finally reached what felt like a barrier.
Raven, listen to my voice.
I coaxed in my mind, sending the message to her.
Her body stilled and Jasmine fell to the ground gasping for air to fill her lungs again.
Come to me.
My voice was like a siren to her and I caught her fighting herself slightly before turning around to face me.
Footsteps approaching behind me but I kept my focus on Raven, not losing concentration.
That's it. Just a little bit more.
She stepped away from Jasmine and her body loosely stepped towards me. I knew she would be pissed when she found out I had used my powers on her outside of training, but it was the only way I knew to get her out of that state of mind.
“What the hell, Raven!?”
