Chapter 12

Chapter 12
I scrunched my hand into my hair in frustration. Last night was possibly one of the worst nights I’ve had in a while, my entire body felt like it was on fire and the reminder of Cassius’ pissed off look burning into my mind.

The bags under my eyes showed the lack of sleep as I stood up on shaky legs and walked towards the bathroom.

Maybe a shower would help.

I pulled off my night clothes and turned on the water, running my hand under the pellets of water to heck the temperature. Once it was right, I stepped into the shower and began washing off everything of last night.

After I was finished, I hopped out while wrapping the towel tightly around me and stepped into the room. The air instantly dropped ten degrees as the cool air hit my bare legs and arms, I made my way to the closet and rummaged through until I found something I could train in today.

A knock on the door had me throwing the clothes on and after I was decent I shouted towards the door.

“Who is it?”

“It’s your maid, madam.”

I huffed, knowing it wasn’t Eladia and made my way towards the door. With the twist of the knob it opened and the red headed lady stood with the same tight bun as yesterday.

“The Prince is feeling quite ill so he called off training today.” Her voice was monotone and I just nodded towards her.

“Very well.”

As she turned delicately on her heels before walking away the door beside me popped open and Cassius stepped out into the hallway.

His eyes met mine before shooting to the ground.

"I should've believed you." His voice sounded slightly broken as he handed me a folded piece of paper with a red wax seal on it.

I opened it and read the contents aloud.

"The King has requested the presence of Cassius and Raven Occisor at dinner this evening. The royal guests will be introduced to the following,"

My eyes widened as I called out the names, catching Elijah's in there also.

Rhyland’s POV

My father laughed along with Duke Roteli about something that happened centuries ago while Jasmine gave no mind to our fathers and stared me down.

“It’s about time for dinner, where are our guests?” My mother asked and I felt my insides fumble with nerves instantly.

“Oh, I wasn’t aware they were coming.” I spoke up and my mom just patted me on the back.

“Yes dear, our friends would like to get to know them a bit more. Especially that son of Queen Fara, he seems a bit taken to the Blueblood.” A divine smile spread along my mother’s face while my blood boiled.

“Is that so?” My voice came out as even as I could make it while glaring daggers at Elijah. If the plan my father had ensured didn’t work, it would be because of this fucking twat.

I needed to get close to her and if he decided to step in the way it would make my task at hand ten times harder.

But was it just about the task that bothered me?

I shook my head, of course! What else would it be?

“Oh look, there’s your little girlfriend now.” Jasmine snarled beside me lowly, I ignored her childish words while my eyes shot up towards the staircase.

There she was.

Her pitch black hair draped over her shoulders like silk curtains raining down infront of her royal blue dress.

I watched her make her way down the staircase and our eyes met for a split second before confusion flashed over her face.

Beside her, Cassius stepped down the staircase also but he seems a bit pale as if he’d seen a ghost.

I moved across the room to meet her at the bottom of the staircase, but before I could make it, a rough hand gripped onto my arm.

“Do not make a scene with company here. Allow her and her brother to step down alone.” My father rumbled out.

I didn’t reply and stayed in my spot. I knew he just wanted them to walk down alone so the other guests could get a better view of their very first Blueblood.

It was like watching visitors at a zoo.

I watched as Elijah walked over and greeted both of them, Cassius conversated with him before smiling ear to ear and gripped him into an enormous hug.

“Awe would you just look at that, he’s even got big brother’s blessing.” Jasmine blantly stated with a small humor in her tone. I felt my eyes watch over Raven as Jasmine’s words sunk in.

I shook the feeling that was creeping up my spine off and turned to look at something else, anything else.

Why does it even bother me?

It shouldn’t, it doesn’t.

“Now that all the guests have arrived, I’d like to introduce everyone. The Royal Duke of Aragon, Elis, and his daughter, Jasmine.” He pointed to both of them and they bowed ever so slightly.

“The Queen of Datreo, Fara, and her son Elijah.” I looked towards Queen Fara who bowed deeply in respect, unlike the first two assholes.

“And now, for our special guests, Raven and Cassius Occisor.” Clapping ruptured through the room and I caught glimpse of a small stage being wheeled out towards the front of the room.

The stage was placed inside a box made of glass, a one-way mirror along the front of it.

My eyebrows furrowed while my father just smirked towards me knowingly. What the hell did he have planned?

“Now, if Raven and Cassius would be so kind as to follow me?” My father held his hand out and Raven took it nervously, looking around and then towards me. Silently asking me what the hell was going on.

Cassius followed and the two stepped up onto the stage, standing above the others and that’s when it hit me.

He was putting on a show.

My heart beat sped up at the sight of how nervous she was, her face flushed and chills raked her arms. I felt myself instantly move towards her but a hand pulled me back.

My glare shot towards the owner of the hand to find Jasmine half smiling at the scene unfolding before her.

The glass made it impossible for the two to hear or see us but we could see them and hear them perfectly clear like they were on display.

They were.

“As you can see, these are the very first BlueBloods we’ve come across in decades.” He pointed towards Raven and looked back at the people.

“They look like ordinary people, but underneath that flesh they’re nothing but monsters. The legend of them going back to as far as then seventeen hundreds.” I felt my body heat up and my fist ball up at my sides.

“Hello? What’s going on?” Raven’s soft voice traveled through the glass and I heard gasps from Queen Fara.

“They are no such thing! Those two children are humans. More so than you’ll ever be!”

My father laughed a hearty laugh before pointing back to Raven and Cassius.

“These two children are going to end us all, no one is suppose to hold that much power alone. Luckily for you all, I discovered them just in time and I’ll handle the threat for my kingdom and all kingdoms nearby when the time is right.”

Queen Fara looked towards Elijah with wide eyes and I could see worry flash on their faces.

My eyes flickered towards Raven again who was looking around in slight panic.

I gritted my teeth to the point where I thought they were going to shatter and before I could stop myself my feet began moving.

“Son, what are you doing?” My father’s question was drowned out by the pounding of my blood rushing through me.

“Rhyland! I asked you a question!”

I moved towards the enormous glass box when my father’s hand grasped my arm.

“You will not take another step-,” I picked my foot up and stepped again, looking him straight in his cold, dead, eyes.

“What’s going on? Why can’t we hear anything?” Raven’s voice snapped me out of the stare down and I yanked away from my father. I shoved the glass door opened and reached out for her hand.

“Both of you, come with me. Dinner was cut a little short tonight.” I gave a hardened smile to them both and they nodded, hopping down off the platform. Raven hesitated but took my hand as she hopped down and when she placed her frail hand in mine I could feel the warmth wrap around my palm.

Much warmer than a normal person’s body temperature should be.

We stepped out of the room and walked passed all of the death glares but I couldn’t give any more fucks.

We had made it out of the dining room before I heard footsteps coming towards us. I turned and saw Elijah hustling up towards us, instinctively I moved towards Raven a tad bit, it wasn’t that obvious but I knew he had spotted it.

“Could I steal you for a moment?” He surprisingly asked Cassius and with a slight nod, Cassius and Elijah both went down the opposite direction towards the gardens.

I caught on quickly to the new feeling that surrounded me knowing it was just her and I.

I couldn’t quite put my finger on why but I knew I enjoyed it, she seemed bolder with just the two of us as far as I’d seen.

“I’m sorry about tonight, Raven.” I spoke up to clear the air and her dark brown eyes flickered to me as a look of confusion covered her face.

“What about tonight? I thought you were sick?”

My eyes widened as we continued down the hall towards her room.

“Oh, right... Uh- well you see,” Her deep brown eyes gazed up at me and I caught myself slipping up, stumbling over my words. How could a simple look do that to someone?

“An argument broke out and everyone thought it was best to just skip dinner.” I lied but she just furrowed her brows up at me.

“Who did you get into an arguement with?”

My eyes shot towards her and a small smile crept up on her face.

“Who said it was me?”

She took a deep breath and we had finally made it to her room.

“Well, when we left everyone was staring at you and I’d say if looks could kill you’d be six feet under by now.” She laughed and her bright smile caused my breath to hitch in my throat.

“It was nothing I couldn’t handle, I assure you.” I smiled back down at her.

“What was the box for? I couldn’t hear anything or see anyone that was outside of it.” Her eyes met the ground and I unknowingly reached my hand out, lifting her chin so her eyes met mine.

“Like I said, nothing I couldn’t handle.”

“We can never actually have a normal gathering in the dining hall, can we?” She laughed and I just shook my head while a chuckle escaped me.

she cleared her throat and awkwardly turned towards her door to enter her room.

“Wait.” I leaned forward and grabbed her arm, causing her to spin around towards me once again.

“I- um, dinner will be called up to your room. Would y-you mind some company?”

I was stuttering. Me. The Prince. Stuttering.

She looked down at the floor and I knew she was going to say no, but as soon as she looked back up with flushed cheeks I caught a slight nod.

“I don’t see why not.” She smiled and my gaze fell from her honey colored eyes to her light pink lips.

The memory of me shouting her name as I finished made my body heat up and I tried to pull my eyes away from those lips.

“Prince Rhyland? Are you going to come in?”

I blinked a few times before looking back up to at her.

“Absolutely.”
