33: Em's Wedding-2
"I need no reminder, you've already told me a hundred times already. They're starting to become daily." That was another thing to add to her list of worries that she had forgotten despite Colin's persistence. He laughed light heartedly before planting a kiss on her lips and moving closer to her ear. "I love you." "I love you too." She said before resting her head on his shoulder again. His actions nor his words could stop her mind again as it raced through everything that had happened since his first slip up after her return from Detroit leading up to this moment. Katie knew what she needed to do- but she was having a good day and she didn't want to ruin it despite being able to clearly smell the alcohol off his breath and the giddiness he had throughout the ceremony and the reception that seemed to top everyone else's. She could see he had been trying to contain himself all day, trying to make himself look like he had not passed their two-drink limit although she knew he had crossed that line before they had even sat down to eat whenever Katie would be whisked away with the wedding party or to help Em out. She noticed how he seemed to forget things and run back up to their room several times also, Katie had forced herself into silence, pretend she didn't see anything. It wasn't until further into the night when everyone was distracted with dancing and having a good time that she had made her decision. This could not be avoided anymore that day, she was going to do something- something she may regret. Katie saw Colin was distracted with Jeremy, Emily and a few others to notice her slip out of the function room and upstairs to their hotel room. She rooted vigorously through the over night bags they had brought with him for a couple of minutes until finally she found Colin's stash. She picked up the small baggie and held it close to her face, examining the white power as it settled to the bottom of the bag. Within giving it a second thought she went to the bathroom and dropped the back into the toilet bowl before flushing it. Katie tidied up the room and then returned downstairs as if nothing had happened. The weight that had lifted off her shoulders made her feel content with her decision, but it would not last forever. The night went quickly after that, Katie didn't once think of her actions upstairs in the hotel room until she was saying goodnight to an exhausted looking Emily. Jeremy had his arm wrapped around her, as if she would fall to the floor if he let her go. "Where are you two going?" she asked once they approached her. "I think we need to call it a night Katie. I'm exhausted." "Well I'll see you two in the morning. Goodnight and thanks for an amazing day." She hugged both before they said their final goodbyes. It was then that Katie had realised she was on her own, Colin was no where to be seen for the past while and this automatically made her heart drop. She began to rush upstairs to her room but the closer she got the slower her feet were. She was terrified of what she might walk in on in their room. Had he realised what she did earlier? Was he mad? What would he do when he saw her? Katie hesitantly put her key card in the door and opened it as soon as the light flashed green. "Colin..." Her voice held so much caution, she had not realised she was standing at the threshold with the door only opened slightly. She was shaking, and it was completely justifiable- she realised this only when she eventually stepped inside and shut the door behind her. Her eyes widened as they wandered around the room then finally met his tarnished blue ones. She couldn't look away once their eyes had caught each other's. She wanted to burst into tears, she wanted to scream and shout, but she didn't. Colin's facial expression tore her apart, for a moment she could rip her eyes away from him to look at the room he had just destroyed, the clothes he had ripped out of the suitcase that were strewn all over the floor, and the furniture that lay pulled out from their original places. Katie's lungs couldn't work for a moment, her eyes could not see anything but his rage and desperateness- the urgency that tore him apart yet promised composure, even just for a little while. "Where is it Katie?" "Where's wha-" "Don't pretend you don't know what I'm talking about. Where the fuck is it?" he growled at her, unable to hold back his anger. She had never seen him this way before, it was the first time she had actually felt afraid of him and that upset her even more. "Colin..." Katie warned as he took a step toward her only for her to take a step back. His eyes were glazed over in a mixture of anguish and torment. Colin was absolutely furious- every part of his body and every word he spit at her showed that clearly. "Katie?" he waited for her reply still, despite knowing she was holding back. "Katie for fuck's sake tell me where you put my god damn stash!" Colin's booming voice echoed around the room, making her feel tiny as she stood in front of him but that did not mean she felt weak. Katie stood up straight and looked him dead in the eye before replying. "Why does it matter now? It's gone." Her voice held great force to it also, she could not show him how afraid she was or else he would notice this and use it against her. Katie's eyes widened as he erupted in front of her, letting out grunts as he punched the wall then pushed the desk over that had been pulled out from the wall already.
