Chapter 34
Chapter 34
Willa
Something moves behind me and pulls me from a surprisingly good sleep. After everything that happened yesterday, you’d think I'd have at least a mild nightmare, but I didn’t. My sleep was deep and calm. Another movement makes me growl in annoyance at being woken up.
“Stop it.” I snap at whatever it is disturbing me.
“Stop rubbing your ass against me then.” A familiar voice says.
My eyes snap open and I look over my shoulder to see Luke laying behind me. He’s behind me though so who…
I turn my head and look over my body at the position I'm currently in. My body is wrapped around Lan. Lan who is also awake and looking down at me. Nerves build inside me at the blank look on his face. I hate that I can’t read the guy. Except…his arms are wrapped around me as well. He could have shoved me off, but he didn’t. I remember everything he said yesterday, but my brain can’t seem to accept the truth in them when he looks like that. So handsome but so silent.
“Um…good morning.” I stutter out as I try to extricate myself from around him.
He tightens his hold on me forcing me to stop. I give him a questioning look but nothing.
“Are you trying to run from me?” He asks.
I attempt to shake my head. “No. Not exactly. I mean I figured you’d want me to let you go.”
“Why would I want that?”
No expression.
“Um, I don’t know.” I have no idea how to feel about him.
There is an obvious attraction between us and he admitted that he has an obsession with me, but it’s so hard to make sense of it when he looks so emotionless. Maybe over time, I’ll be able to read him but right now I feel on edge.
“Just because your other boyfriend broke in here to steal you away doesn’t mean I’ll let him.” Lan looks behind me and I watch his jaw tighten.
His body has gone ridged and if I had to guess, he seems annoyed maybe even angry.
“You can’t hog her man. She was mine first.” Luke says.
Lan makes a small grunt sound. “Perhaps, but she is not just yours any longer. Or have you forgotten the fact she will be marrying Maxim? That will give him seniority over all of us.”
“What a second-“ I start to say but it’s like I'm not even in the room right now.
“They will be married on paper only. He doesn’t have an exclusive claim on her because of a piece of paper.” Luke snaps back.
He is very clearly annoyed.
“Um excuse me. I think I should have some say in this.” I finally get a chance to add.
The guys go quiet and a hand slides across my stomach and I feel Luke’s warmth against my back.
“Of course you do. Just be patient with us.” He whispers in my ear making me shiver.
A jolt starts between my legs followed quickly by a deep ache which causes me to make a small whimpering sound. Luke’s head moves away from me.
“What’s wrong?” The concern is voice makes me cringe.
I don’t exactly want to tell him about what happened between Lan and me last night, but I also don’t want there to be secrets between us. It wouldn’t be fair to the guys if I kept aspects of my relationship with the others away from them. I mean obviously, I wouldn’t share everything but when it came to sex…it was going to be a learning experience.
“We were together last night. She must be feeling the residual effects of our encounter.” Lan says unhelpfully.
I groan in embarrassment and bury my face against his chest.
“What? You two slept together?” Luke doesn’t sound mad exactly but more stunned.
“It was a natural progression of a relationship,” Lan says matter-of-factly.
“Can you stop talking like a fucking robot all the time? It’s unnerving.” Luke grumbles.
I can’t help but choke a laugh. He is saying what I’ve been thinking since I met Lan.
“I speak clear and precise,” Lan says calmly.
“Whatever is weird.” Luke snuggles up against me again and I relax.
That is until the door to the room slams open making me jolt.
“What the hell is this? Get your hands off my fiancé!” Maxim says.
I lift my head and attempt to look at him but the two guys currently holding me are barely allowing me to move. It doesn’t matter because Maxim storms in and stands at the end of the bed, arms crossed and an eyebrow raised.
“My Zehna, are you alright? Or are these brutes bothering you?”
“Actually it is getting hard to breathe,” I say with a strangled sound.
“My poor dear. Bruts release her!” Maxim says in a playful command.
Then he’s gone and the weight behind me is gone along with the sound of a scuffle and a few curses.
“God dammit you idiot Russian!” I hear Luke yell followed by a snicker from Maxim.
“I suppose I should get the morning started,” Lan says before taking me by surprise and tilting my head up to leave a lingering kiss on my lips. “What would you like for breakfast?”
“He doesn’t mean cinnamon toast crunch and coffee Wila.” Luke chimes in before I can say anything.
I let out an offended scoff. “I know that asshole.”
“That sort of thing will never be allowed in our kitchen Willa,” Lan says with a stern tone.
“Fine. You sure are bossy.” I grumble. “What are my options then?”
“Eggs Benedict, pancakes with strawberries, fried egg with wheat toast…” He trails off but I already know what I want.
“Pancakes definitely.”
He nods and finally releases me. I roll onto my back and take a second to stretch. It turns into a literal second because suddenly there is a huge man collapsing right on top of me. I groan in a breathy plea of pain making my soon-to-be murderer laugh.
“Get off.” I manage to huff out with a few jabs to Maxim’s back.
A sudden pain makes me release a weak cry and then the weight is gone and I’m able to suck in a much-needed breath. Maxim chuckles as I try to catch my breath but then he’s wrapping himself around me again.
“Maxim! You’re worse than the others.” I growl while I push and shove at him.
He’s stronger than me so my attempts aren’t a success but the effort was made. I give up embarrassingly quickly.
“They were trying to fight over you. I have to battle with no moral for my lady.”
I roll my eyes at his antics.
“Where’s Sebastian? What happen to-“
“She’s gone and I don’t recommend mentioning her name again around Seb. He isn’t happy.” Maxim’s voice gets suddenly serious.
I scoff. “I don’t blame him. But what did he do with her?”
He sighs and loosens his grip on me enough that I can turn to face him.
“He packed her up and is having her delivered to her father. He may have put out word that he knows she was working for his dad.” His hand moves from my waist and he wraps a strand of my hair around his finger. “Now we wait.”
“Wait for what? Another attack? Shouldn’t we do something to get ahead of this?” I ask.
“We already talked about this Willa. We need to play things smart. Starting with you becoming my wife. Which will be happening today.”
My eyes grow comically wide making him laugh. “What? Today?”
“That’s right. Why wait? Sebastian arranged it for this afternoon. That gives us a few hours to go shopping for a dress. Now get your cute ass up so we can get moving.” He leans in and steals a kiss before rolling off the bed a striding away like he didn’t just drop a bomb on me.
I mean I knew we wanted to do the wedding soon but this seems really soon.
Dress shopping…
A twinge of guilt makes me shift with discomfort when the reality of the fact my mom won’t be here hits me again. This is something a mother and daughter would do together, but my mom isn’t here. Should be in a second if I asked her, but I’m scared. We may be having some differences of opinion right now but I still love her. Having her fly out here to do something like dress shopping is too dangerous. Luca is just waiting for her or one of my dads to come out into the open.
This is something I need to do alone. Maybe I could video chat with her. No matter how things were left between us last time we talked I wouldn’t rob her of this moment. Decision made I climb off the bed and get to work looking for some panties. I assume it isn’t very polite to sit at a table for breakfast mostly naked. Although I doubt the boys would object.
