Chapter 31
Chapter 31
Willa
I suddenly felt tired. The idea of possibly having to torture someone had my blood pumping and my head racing to the point that my whole body was on edge. Now that I’m done with my role in finding out information from Dalia it's like all my energy has been zapped out of me.
“What’s wrong?” Lan’s voice states me a little.
“I’m just tired,” I admit with a shrug. “Interrogation sure takes it out of a girl.”
“I think we should all move into the bunker. I’ll show you the rooms and you can decide which one you want.” He stands and I don’t bother objecting just yet.
The idea of living under an old building in such a cold space doesn’t exactly appeal to me, but I can wait until tomorrow to talk about it.
“Is there a bathroom in each room or is it like a shared bathroom?” I ask as he starts leading me to the door I’d slipped into when I talked to my mom.
“Each room has it’s own bathroom. The only one not included in the room is basic and can be used by anyone.” He explain and pulls the door open for me to walk into the room.
Like the rest of the place it’s very plain looking. Metallic looking walls with white carpet and a white ceiling. The comforter on the bed is grey and the sheets and pillow cases are a shade lighter but in the same grey tone. There is a dresser along the opposite wall with a TV mounted above it. There is a single side black table with a metal designed lamp.
“This is…nice.” Is all I can think to say.
“You can change whatever you want. I didn’t see the need to decorate it since I had no real plans for this place figured out. It was meant for limited use or in case of emergencies. I think it would be wise to move in here. We can’t keep you safe if we’re separated. Obviously, our house is no longer secure, so moving here is also smart for us as well.” He walks further into the room and toward one of the other doors. “Bathroom and that leads to the closet.”
I walk toward the bathroom door and peek inside. It’s decked out in a smilier color scheme than the rest of the room. There is a shower, a bath, and a basket with a few shampoos and other items. It reminds me of a very modern hotel.
“I’ll get you something to wear.”
When I turn around Lan is leaving. I had thrown on a pair of random jeans I found when we were asked to come here but I still have the loose-fitting shirt I’d been wearing under the jacket I have on. Instead of calling out to him that I was fine with what I was wearing, I walk further into the bathroom and take a minute to look the shower over. It is one of those futuristic-looking things with a tablet mounted on the wall to control everything. Why do people have these things? It’s a shower!
Still, I step in and start tapping the screen trying to figure out what setting I want. I yelp when water starts to spray down from the overhead shower head. Cursing I jump out of the shower and stare down at my now nearly drenched jacket. It sustained most of the damage but water was sliding down the back of my neck. I start hopping around as the cold water works its way down my spine. Forgetting all about the fact Lan can come back at any time I shrug my jacket off and pull my shirt over my head. I’m reaching for a towel when I hear someone suck in a breath. My eyes snap up and I see Lan standing in the doorway with a stack of clothes in his hand. We both freeze. His eyes slowly work down my half-naked body (I forgot to put a bra on), while mine winded like a deer in the headlights.
Neither of us moved for a minute and then I let out a delayed sound of surprise and wrap my arms around my chest trying to hide what he’s already very clearly seen.
“I have the clothes.” He says but it sounds almost like an automatic response.
“Oh, um thanks!” I move so that at least one arm covers me and use the other one to reach for the clothes.
Lan pulls them out of the way before I can touch them. I give him a confused look and when I look up at his face he’s watching me. His eyes aren’t fixed on my chest but on my face. Then he does something I don’t expect. He steps inside and closes the door behind him. I hear the sound of him locking the door and then I’m the one sucking in a breath.
“Lan what-“ My words are cut off when he takes one big step toward me and wraps an arm around my bare waist.
His touch makes my skin break out in goosebumps and im being pulled agasint his chest before I can ask him what he’s doing. Suddenly his lips are on mine and I’m leaning into him searching for more. I fell the clothes in his hand fall to our feet and then his other are is in my hair holding me hostage in this kiss.
In the short time I’ve known Lan I hadn’t expected this. He always seems…indifferent. So this kiss is a surprise, and yet I can’t bring myself to pull away. I expect him to pull away and tell me to forget about this. That it meant nothing, but he doesn’t. He kisses me deeply until I’m breathless before breaking away from me.
“What was that for?” I whisper against his lips.
He’s still so close.
“I can’t fight against you. I can’t look away from you.” He admits without a single sound of anger or even annoyance.
“What?” I can’t think right.
My brain is stuck in a lustful fog.
“I see you. Everything. You were scared tonight. You didn’t want to hurt Dalia.” He says as he releases my hair and slides his hand down my arm.
“I would have,” I say but he’s right.
“You would have if it meant protecting us, but you don’t like causing pain. Luke said you could easily kick someone's ass, but you don’t want to. You don’t want to hurt anyone, but I know for a fact if anyone hurt someone you care about you would have no reservations. You would kill for them.”
How does he know this?
He must see the question I’m about to ask because he answers it before I can open my mouth.
“Like I said. I see you. More than anyone else. My job is to watch everything…to observe everything, including you. So I know that you hated it when Dalia said Luca promised Seb to her. I saw the way you relaxed when Luke and Maxim touched you. And I can see now that you are affected by me too.” His hand moves to my bare waist and I shiver.
My eyes fall shut and I suck in a breath when I feel the first brush of his lips against the sensitive skin along my neck.
This is crazy! Sure I had been open to the whole poly relationship thing, but honestly I never thought it would actually happen. Not many guys are willing to share and meet these guys….they’re the most alpha men you could meet. Yet here was another one offering themselves up to me not caring that I’m already claimed by two others.
“I…” My words are cut off when he nips the skin at the spot where my neck meets my shoulder. “I didn’t think you liked me.”
I sound like a silly kid speaking to her crush for the first time, but he’s messing with my head.
“I don’t like you.” He says abasing my shoulder before pulling back to look me in the eyes. “I’m obsessed with you.”
“But you don’t know me. Is it normal for you guys to become obsessed with a girl you don’t know anything about?” I let out a weak laugh but it falls flat.
“I know everything about you. I did my research on you. I learned everything I could about you. So don’t say I don’t know you. If anything I know you the best out of all the others. Even your precious Luke.” His voice changes just slightly when he says Luke’s name.
It almost sounds like he’s…jealous.
That can’t be right.
“Lan I don’t know what you want from me. This is all so…fast. I mean I'm going to be marrying Maxim!” I break away from him and turn my back to him.
I grab my shirt and pull it back on. This is not the conversation to have when I’m half-naked.
