Cut to the Sleepover Plan
Setting: Later that evening, Briar is at home texting Angelo and Celeste, making sure the plan for the sleepover is in place. The soft glow of her phone screen lights up her room as she types.
Briar’s POV (Texting Angelo):
Briar: “Hey, Lia and I were thinking of having a sleepover this weekend. Celeste is invited too. You in? :)”
Angelo: “A sleepover? With you three? Sounds dangerous. But yeah, count me in.”
I laughed, shaking my head at his response. I could already imagine the jokes and the playful teasing that would come once we were all together. But there was a part of me that was nervous—what if things didn’t go as smoothly as Lia predicted?
Celeste’s POV (Receiving the Text):
I glanced at my phone, seeing Briar’s name pop up. A sleepover? My stomach did a flip. On the surface, it sounded like fun, but I couldn’t help but feel uneasy. I knew Briar and Angelo had gotten closer recently, and despite trying to brush it off, it bothered me. I tapped out a reply, trying to mask any hesitation.
Celeste: “Sure! I’ll bring the snacks ;) Sounds like fun.”
As I sent the message, I couldn’t help but wonder if this sleepover would be as innocent as it seemed. Something told me that more than just movies and junk food were going to be on the agenda.
Setting: A cozy living room filled with soft pillows and blankets, fairy lights twinkling in the corners, and a movie playing softly in the background. The smell of popcorn fills the air, and snacks are scattered across the coffee table. It’s a warm, inviting space perfect for a night of laughter and bonding.
Briar’s POV: The sound of laughter echoed around the room as I sprawled across the plush carpet, surrounded by my friends. I felt a sense of comfort and joy, a much-needed escape from the heaviness of the past few days. Celeste was recounting an embarrassing story from school, her expressive gestures making everyone laugh even harder. “And then I tripped over my own feet in front of the entire class!” Celeste exclaimed; her cheeks flushed from laughter. “Classic Celeste!” Lia chimed in, giggling uncontrollably. I loved these moments, where the worries of the world seemed to vanish, if only for a little while. Angelo’s POV: I sat back on the couch, watching Briar as she laughed with Celeste and Lia
.. There was something magical about these moments—the way their joy was contagious. I glanced at Briar, her eyes sparkling in the soft light, and I couldn’t help but smile. It was nice to see her happy, especially after everything we’d been through. “Okay, okay! Time for a truth or dare!” Lia announced, her eyes gleaming with mischief. “Definitely truth!” Celeste declared, clearly not wanting to risk an embarrassing dare. Briar’s Internal Thoughts: I could feel the excitement in the air as the game began. It was a chance for us to share secrets and get to know each other better. But a small part of me wondered if I should mention the dream I shared with Angelo. Would they understand?
Angelo’s Internal Conflict: As the game progressed, I couldn’t shake the feeling of wanting to share something deeper with Briar, but this was not the moment. I needed to be present, to enjoy the lightheartedness of the night. Lia’s Turn: “Okay, Celeste! Truth or dare?” Lia asked, her grin widening. “Truth!” Celeste replied, and we all learned in, eager to hear what Lia would ask. “What’s your biggest crush in this room?” Lia asked playfully, her eyes darting between us. Celeste’s face turned bright red as she looked at me, then at Briar, then back at me. “Um, well…” she stammered, clearly flustered. Briar’s Encouragement: “Come on, Celeste! We’re all friends here. Just spill it!” I teased, nudging her playfully. With a deep breath, Celeste finally blurted out, “Okay, fine! It’s Angelo!” Angelo’s Reaction: I felt my cheeks heat up, and I quickly looked down, trying to hide my embarrassment. “Wait, what?” I exclaimed, half-laughing, half-awkward. “Looks like you have a fan, Angelo!” Lia teased, and I could feel the warmth of Briar’s gaze on me.
Briar’s POV: A mix of surprise and jealousy flickered within me, but I quickly brushed it aside. “You two would make a cute couple!” I said, forcing a smile to mask my true feelings. Celeste’s Laughter: “Yeah, right! Like he’d ever go for me!” Celeste laughed, brushing her hair behind her ear, her cheeks still tinged with pink. Lia’s Dare: “Alright, my turn! Briar, truth or dare?” Lia asked, a mischievous glint in her eye. “Dare,” I replied, feeling bold. “I dare you to text someone you’ve had a crush on!” Lia declared, and my heart raced. Briar’s Internal Thoughts: A thousand thoughts raced through my mind. Should I text Angelo? It was a risk, but in this moment of fun, I felt brave. “Fine! I’ll do it!” I laughed, reaching for my phone. I shot a quick message to Angelo: “Hey, I dare you to admit your biggest secret!” Angelo’s Reaction: I watched as Briar sent the message, feeling my heart skip a beat. What would she think of my secret? Would she understand my connection to her and the dream we shared?
