Chapter 149

Chapter 149
Watching Rishima walk side by side with another male, especially seeing the gentle look in her eyes as she had gazed at him, had driven Zvonimir mad with jealousy. But he hadn’t dared to act rashly, because at that moment, Rishima had trusted that other male more than him. He had been terrified she’d fall in love with someone else, and even more afraid he lacked the strength to take her back.
So Zvonimir simply stood still and asked, "Who are you?"
"Who am I?" Roberto curled his lips into a mocking smile. "I’m her brother, and her mate. So I’d appreciate it if you stayed away from my mate."
With that, Roberto signaled his bodyguards. A group of males surged forward to force Zvonimir aside. Even after Roberto and Rishima had disappeared, Zvonimir remained frozen in the park for a long time, unmoving, until Matthew came running up.
"Zvonimir, why are you here?"
Matthew knew he probably wouldn’t find the female who resembled Rishima in the photo, but he’d held onto a sliver of hope as he rushed to the park, only to run into Zvonimir instead.
And that only deepened his hope. Zvonimir wouldn’t come here without a reason. He had even brought Emma along.
Sure enough, Zvonimir then said, "Matthew, I just saw Rishima."
"Really?" Matthew grabbed Zvonimir’s hand in excitement, urgently asking, "Where is she? Why didn’t you stop her?"
Zvonimir let out a long breath. "She was taken away by a male named Roberto."
Roberto?
The name instantly reminded Matthew of the male Emily had told him about, Robert. No wonder he couldn’t find Robert. Turns out, Emily had lied about his real name.
Fury and resentment flared across Matthew’s face. He truly didn’t know if anything Emily had said was ever true. He loathed that female now.
At that moment, Zvonimir added, "I’ll bring her back, but not yet. She doesn’t remember who I am anymore."
"What?" Matthew grabbed Zvonimir by the collar and shouted, "Don’t you love Rishima? And you’re okay with letting her stay with another male? If you won’t bring her back, I will."
Right now, Matthew’s heart was burning with urgency. He wanted nothing more than to snatch Rishima back immediately. He turned to order his subordinates, "Start digging up everything on this male named Roberto. I want it all. Don’t miss a single detail!"
The final ritual still wasn’t carried out. Matthew only heard from his subordinates that Emily had been viciously humiliated by Aliana in front of a large number of guests. But Matthew wasn’t particularly concerned. He even felt a sense of satisfaction. Had she not concealed Roberto’s true identity, he would have found Rishima long ago.
On the other side, Zvonimir was desperately trying to find a way to reach Rishima’s residence. Roberto’s security was airtight; there was no way for him to infiltrate the villa to see her.
It wasn’t until one of his subordinates brought in a lead, "Boss, we’ve found a spot that might allow us to break into Roberto’s villa."
Zvonimir asked urgently, "Where?"
These days, Zvonimir felt like he was walking on burning coals, sitting on a bed of fire. Rishima had forgotten him and was now with Roberto. If that was the case, the likelihood that she loved Roberto was extremely high. Now that there was a way to see her, he couldn’t wait a second longer.
However, his subordinate hesitated,  "Boss, it’s a little..."
"Spit it out! I don’t care what it is. I just want to see Rishima."
The subordinate cautiously explained that behind Roberto’s estate, there was a small hole. Roberto kept two dogs, and this hole was used so they could come and go freely from the villa.
With an incredibly awkward look on his face, the subordinate pointed to the dog hole. He expected Zvonimir to be furious, maybe even scold him. But to his surprise, Zvonimir gleefully dropped to his knees and squeezed into the dog hole.
The subordinate quickly turned his head away. He couldn’t bear to witness the sight of Zvonimir sticking his butt in the air crawling through a dog hole.
As Zvonimir strained to crawl through the narrow opening, he spotted Rishima on the other side of the wall feeding the two dogs in the garden. For days now, Roberto hadn’t allowed her to go out, and she was terribly bored. Feeding the dogs had become her only source of entertainment.
"Woof woof woof."
Suddenly, the two dogs barked wildly, startling Rishima. Then she saw them rush toward the dog hole, baring their teeth and growling.
"Stop barking!"
Rishima thought a stray cat had snuck into the villa, which was why the two dogs were barking wildly. However, not only did the dogs not quiet down, they barked even louder. One of them even lunged forward, attacking something viciously. Rishima hurried over. If it was just a stray cat, she could feed it and chase it away. If it were killed by the dogs, it would be too pitiful.
But the moment she saw a male squeezing through the dog hole, her eyes widened in shock.
"You..."
"Buddy! Let him go!"
Rishima pulled the black dog away, right now, it had its jaws locked onto Zvonimir’s arm. Just as Zvonimir, enraged, released his wolf aura to suppress the dog, it seemed to sense the danger and quickly released his arm before bolting away.
Worried, Rishima stepped closer and asked, "Are you alright? What are you doing here? Have you lost your mind?"
She wanted to tell Zvonimir to leave immediately, but before the words could leave her mouth, he pulled her into a tight embrace and pressed a hurried kiss onto her lips. This time, it was just a fleeting touch before he pulled away. Rishima hadn’t even reacted, her eyes still wide as she stared blankly at him.
Zvonimir gave a sly smile, pressed a finger to her lips, and whispered, "Shh, don’t shout. Don’t let Roberto know I’m here."

Dazed, Rishima nodded. For some inexplicable reason, she believed him unconditionally. Though she had never met him before, deep down she felt an uncanny familiarity, as if they had lived together for many years.
