Chapter 24: I Will Do Things That Will Ruin You

Sophie

My life is miserable without Romano, the only person I yearn to see since the last three years has passed but every time I come to think about it, it kills me to he reminded that I can't because he is non more. The last three years have been the most torturous years of my life, at this point, I was desperate for anything to happen just so Nathan can leave.

I never understood why he does what he did but he never gets tired of it. There will be days where he would show the gentle side of him but then, there are most days where he is ruthless to me that I would think I wouldn't live to see the next day. Although on some days he was really gentle and loving towards me, I would still be intimidated because it is just the fear that is pissing him off. I would be beaten until I was unable to move, I would be beaten to pulp if I ever piss him off. I will never understand why he does that and hope that I see the light of an escape.

Late time I have see him was when he shameless fucked me in front of everyone in his club. I never see him after that day, I didn't want to. In fact, I was ready to kill him. What he did was far the worst he has ever done to me and I was never going to get over it. I cried for days because of how much he put her through just to punish me. At the time, I was helpless and I couldn't do anything but now when I think back, I always get frustrated at the fact that I did nothing to stop him. I think about all the things I could have done to just stop him but my weakness just prevented me from doing so. My jaw clenched and my fists roll into balls when I think of Nathan, the most disgusting, cruelest and repulsive man living on a good planet.

Ever since Romano died, I hated my life and could never see a future because it felt so wrong to think about it without having Romano in them. I think about all the things I could have done with him, get married, have his children and a house of our own but that was never going to happen. I cried myself to sleep everyday knowing that I would probably have to live like this for the rest of my life. I would rather die and be with Romano than marry a monster, a rapist and a heartless man, Nathan.

“Sophie?”

I glanced over my shoulder to find my mother at the door. She made eye contact with me, her face was painted with a frown and my body relaxed just seeing her. Her warm smiles enlightened me and her words always warmed my heart.

“Come in, mother.” I said and as  soon as she entered the room, she broke down right in front of me.

“Mother, what is the matter? Why are you crying?” I asked as I embraced her into a hug. I tried my hardest not to break down too because I have done enough of that. If my mother saw me like that, it would break her even more.

“Sweetheart, look at you. I can't see you anymore. I want you out of here.” She cried, the daunting nightmares came rushing to me and remained in my head as tears formed in my eyes while she continued to talk. I couldn't take the pain anymore, I couldn't watch her cry like this.

“Mother,” I croaked and shook my head.

“I can't leave you here.”

“Sophie, I told you, don..”

“Mother, I love you so much and I respect you but I am going to refuse your idea. In fact, I am not going to encourage it, we have discussed this before and it is not going to happen.” I cut her off, my face was straight and plain. I made sure I left no more room to argue.

“What is not going to happen?” A familiar voice came between us and it instantly made my spine just straighten in shock and fear. My eyes widened as I looked at my mother with a terrified expression, sbe shook her head before she turned around.

I turned my gaze to the eiie as I followed her to find Gabriel standing next to the door frame with his arms crossed against his chest. His face was void with any emotions as he glared at both of us which gave me the chills.

“Nothing important, Gabriel.” Mother replied.

He chuckled as he entered the room and closes the door behind him. A smirk ran across his face as he took steps closer towards us but all I ever did was follow his steps with my gaze because I was too frightened to look at him or even talk to him. I gulped hard as beads of sweat rolled down my forehead, my mother just took my hand and squeezed them on hers, giving me some reassurance.

“Do you know what I hate the most” he asked as he raise a brow.

“Liars, I fucking despise them abs that is what you are right now.” He growled at us as he gave us a resentful stare.

“Do you know how stupid you sound, Maria?” He suddenly asked as he roughly seized my mother's arm.

She gasped and let go of my hand and began to whimper quietly while all this was unfolding in front of us. We didn't speak a word because we both knew that would really piss him off.  My jaws dropped at how he was treating his wife and it really made me very angry. I never thought that I would do this but when I did, my heart dropped. I clenched my jaw and spoke back like how I should have three years ago. Maybe if I did, I wouldn't have been where I am today.

“Gabriel!” I yelled.

“Leave her alone!”

Just the tone I called him made him shoot a glare at me, he scanned his eyes over my face as he stopped rattling my mother and his eyes widened in shock. In fact he was bemused, I clenched my jaw before I gulped because I knew I was definitely going to die today.

“What did you say?” He growled under his breath. He let go of her arm and walked over to me. My mother shook her head and began to stop him from doing anything to me.

“I said leave mother alone, Gabriel.” I muttered under my breath as he stood in front of me. He was so close to me that I had to look up at him, he clenched his jaws and instead, grabbed my arms.

“You have grown older, smarter and bolder and I don't fucking like that. You really need to be given a taste of my medicine because I have let you off the hook for so long. You really need to behave more appropriately.” He growled.

“I am telling you, Sophie, drop this stupid act. It is no use because I will do things that will ruin you.”

“Gabe, no, not now, you promised me.” Mother protested behind him. I looked over his shoulder to see her just shake her head as her cheeks were drenched with her tears. Confusion pooled me as I stared at both of them, wondering what she was talking about.

“Keep quiet, Maria. I will do whatever I want, whenever I want?” He barked at her , who really couldn't face me right now.

My heart palpitated when she was refusing to face me because that was when I knew this was bad. My palms were very sweaty and my head was spinning, I was not ready for this at all.

“The wedding will take place in five days' time.” He announced.

“And you have no choice but to agree.”

My whole world came crashing down to me as he dropped this news to me, the wedding was sooner than I had expected. Honestly speaking, I was not ready at all. My face was covered in tears that I didn't realize that I had fallen to the floor, absolutely heartbroken as I looked at the man who should be my father. I can't even call him my father, not anymore, not when he had caused me this pain. I was lost in my own thoughts that I didn't realize he had left the room, leaving my mother crying as she approached me.

“Oh, my dear child.” He kneeled down as she crushed me into a hug.

“I am sorry for not informing you about this, I should have told you before he did, Sophie.”

“Mother, it is not your fault, you are helpless and I knew this day would eventually come.”  I said as I rested on her.

She ended up staying in my room for the whole night since Nathan wasn't back and I was glad. The tension around us disappeared a few hours later after I was in his warm embrace, we were talking about other things and there would be times where we wouldn't speak. She said everything is going to be fine and she even said that the wedding will not take place. Right now, I wondered how that could be true.
