29- The goddess war, the flowers war
Outside the camp things were a bit hectic. Jalagh's defense had launched an attack on Shockstel. The rebel guerrillas were trying to defend themselves with some of their men, the previous barracks where Sherek was had been destroyed. Terryville had given orders to the Defense to destroy wherever it passed and not to leave hostages or prisoners after the attacks. Their cruelty was such that they left Osland savages to consume the corpses and any dying or hiding people who had survived. Stela's elite rebel soldiers guarded the gates of the village while several groups of soldiers left to head as reinforcements to Shockstel. On the battle front, the Captain was organizing the defenses while trying to repel the attack. After talking with several generals, one gave him details of how the war had started thanks to a revolt with a rebel noble from Teresville who was heading to Shockstel from there in search of a supposedly sick relative to take him to the city and pay for a doctor for his quick treatment, he hired supposed guards for his custody due to the "problems with the rebels" and in this way, he would not generate suspicions when leaving Teresville to a place where there was such a big rebel uprising. Even so, a man, a former enemy of his, upon seeing him leave, sent a letter to the Defense of Jalagh, in which he ordered to search for a carriage near the forests of Teresville and murder its passengers for treason to the crown. The description was of a man with warm leather and a hat.
The carriage left Teresville and thirty minutes later the travelers saw a small group of rebels patrolling. They immediately took off their false uniforms and showed their somewhat dirty, worn clothes underneath. The other rebels greeted them and let them continue. However, a few minutes later the driver of the carriage received an arrow shot in the head, the guards immediately raised their shields and looked for where that arrow came from; Out of nowhere, three horsemen, five shotgunners, and five lancers intercepted the carriage, the guards lowered their weapons, meanwhile the nobleman sounded quite scared inside it.
The leader of this ambush dismounts from his horse and opens the carriage door.
–In the name of the Defense of Jalagh and King Toslan
—Hey! Wait! I am not with the rebels, I will only look for my son who is sick with Shockstel
—There are many rebels there, I know you are trying to infiltrate them into the city.
-No! You are wrong sir!
-Be quiet! —Screams the Jalagh Defense guard as he slaps the noble—
The leader of the group fires his revolver at this man's forehead, killing him immediately. He mounts his horse and orders his army to kill the two remaining guards, at that moment a group of rebel militias begins to attack them from the forests, and after several shots, some spearmen fall and the leader's horse receives several arrows, rendering it useless. The remaining shotgunners and lancers, in a failed attempt to defend themselves, were killed along with their leader by the rebels, the only survivors were the other two horsemen who left their leader behind when they saw that the rebels far outnumbered their men.
The rebels begin to march towards Teresville through the middle of the forest, these two horsemen from the Defense of Jalagh quickly report that a rebel army is heading to Teresville, so they begin to enlist their men to attack the rebels on several fronts and defend your base.
A messenger bird arrives in Teresville with the alert, and they immediately begin to prepare their defenses and their army.
Night falls and the rebels are in the forests, at the same time Teresville has men patrolling on the outskirts of the city and the Jalagh Defense approaches several men in formation to enter the forests, protect the kingdom, and assassinate them.
The rebels use a strategy based on ambushes, in the forest there are many trees and branches to hide in, as the deep and dark night becomes an ally for stealthy battles and hiding places. They are all hidden, above the trees waiting for their prey.
The battle begins when some Jalagh horsemen step on some bushes and at that moment they run into an ambush of rebels, then a group of Terevillian soldiers begin to enter the forest. From the trees they release gunpowder shots and arrows that fall on top of them, but they react quickly and with their shields, some manage to defend themselves until they approach the trees and shoot upwards causing several rebels to fall, thus they begin to confront each other in several areas. The rebels, for their part, felt great emotion when they realized that finally, this conflict for which they had prepared so much was already beginning.
