ARIANA

My heart was pounding against my rib cage. Although I had been to a doctor, I kinda knew that I was not in danger yet. Still I was nervous. So much that I couldn't breathe. On my lap, I was playing with my fingers and slamming my heels on the ground. My heart suddenly skipped a beat or two when Enzo intertwined his fingers with mine and gave my hand a gentle squeeze.

“I am right here. I will not let anything happen to you. I promise you.” Enzo whispered to my ear then placed a soft kiss on the side of my head. I couldn't say I wasn't glad that I wasn't alone.

“Breathe, my Sweetness. Breathe.” With that, we exercised breathing together. After a few deep breaths, I felt a bit better.

The doctor finally walked in with my files in her hands. Enzo asked his men to bring my old files from the village as well. “Your cancer isn't developing anymore. It's not progressing right now. It's the right time to get done with the treatments.” The doctor started.

“I suggest we start up with chemotherapy. If that didn't work, then we can look into other options. For now, I want to start with the chemo.” The doctor gave us the whole briefing. According to her, the cancer on my uterus wasn't that concerning. It was at its very starting point. But the tumor in my brain could be a problem if it didn't shrink.

We agreed to start with the chemo. I was given a date for my first chemotherapy along with half a dozen medicines she wrote me. Once done, Enzo took me back home.

My heart was clenching as I stepped into the mansion after half a decade. Everything was the same as I left it all. “Nothing's changed. I thought valentina might have changed everything as soon as I left.” I couldn't hide my sadness as I walked into the place I once held dearly to my heart.

“She tried. I didn't let her. Then I kicked her out. Let's not talk about it. I need to make sure that you are happy.” Enzo replied calmly. He grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the same floor where his bedroom was.

“Enzo, I told you. I don't want to live in the same room…” before I could finish, he opened the door of another room. It was still beside his bedroom, but it wasn't his.

“I know! That's why, I asked the maids to clean up this room. I figured you wouldn't want to have your old room.” We walked inside. The interior was simple. The room was painted grey and maroon. The furniture was antique. A few lamps here and there. Just the way I liked it. As if he had decorated that room just for me a while ago.

“Your old stuff is still here.” He added and I frowned.

“You should have thrown that away. I don't want to have any of those things that might remind me of our past. I don't want it.” I didn't think twice before I growled at him. He sighed then nodded his head.

“I can understand. Let me take you shopping then. You don't have anything to wear.” Enzo offered, holding the door open for me. Rolling my eyes in annoyance, I walked out of the room.
