I couldn't stop crying as the doctors were busy fixing Enzo. I couldn't say what I did. I just knew that my actions hurt Enzo in a way. We brought him to the hospital. Valentina and Suzie were constantly berating me because they heard that I was the reason why Enzo started bleeding in the first place. “Mrs De Luca, you need to calm down. This way, you will only hurt yourself. You need to stay calm if you want to help Boss.” Monty was trying to help me calm down.
“Yeah! You can keep telling her that. It's her fault that we are back here.” Suzie growled at Monty while glaring at me. At that point, I couldn't even fight with her. I knew that she was right to criticize me, be angry at me. I was blaming myself for everything.
After about an hour, the doctors came out. Holding a hand right above my heart, I walked closer. “He is out of danger. There is no need to be worried anymore. We are shifting him in the private room.” The doctor announced then he walked away. I sat down on the nearby bench, trying to breathe properly after hours.
Once he was shifted in the room, again, Suzie made a fuss, not letting me inside. I was feeling too guilty at that moment to fight against her. I stayed outside while I watched Valentina holding my husband's hand into her with a heavy and aching heart.
It took him a few hours to finally open his eyes. I was standing by the doorframe, staring at him with longing. Longing for the touch. It was no news to me that my love language was simply the touch. Either the soft and gentle touch or the one that was possessed by his domination.
His mouth was covered with an oxygen mask. Tears welled up when I watched how his face was contoured with pain. Suzie tried to keep his hand trapped tightly into hers. But Enzo snatched his hand from her hold. He pointed his index finger at me. Then he signalled me to come inside.
“Her! You want her to be here while you ignore us all. She is the reason why you ended up in the ER again. You had to had another surgery within a week because of her. And yet, you want her instead of us all who actually care about you.” I narrowed my eyes in shame when I heard that. She wasn't wrong. I had to control myself, but I didn't.
Enzo turned to glare at Suzie. “Miss Suzie, you are not a child anymore. No one need to tell you that Mrs De Luca is married to your father. And Miss Valentina is your father's ex. Accidents happen. But that doesn't mean you can blame Mrs De Luca for everything. If that's the case, then we shall discuss all the times when Boss almost got killed because of you. I have a long list.” And there it was, the right hand man, speaking his boss’ mind when Enzo couldn't.
Monty made Suzie zip her mouth shut for good. And like the manipulative bitch she was, Valentina didn't even try to defend her daughter. After all, she was still looting Enzo in Suzie's name. Slowly but hesitantly, I made my way inside the room when Enzo held his hand up for me.
Enzo was a stubborn man. I knew of I didn't do anything, he would probably keep his hand up until his hand would go numb. I placed my hand on top of his and he pulled me. I was able to control myself in time, I ended up sitting on the edge of the bed. Enzo intertwined his fingers with mine and gave me a wide and cheeky smile.
Just then, the doctor stepped into the room, holding Enzo's file in his hands. “How are you feeling now, Mr De Luca?” Asked the doctor.
Enzo only nodded his head slowly in response. “He is doing better for now. Until his wife will do something to hurt him again.” It was Suzie who had interrupted.
Enzo turned to glare at Suzie while I narrowed my head in shame. “Absolutely not! As the matter of fact, that accident you spoke of before the surgery, is the reason why Mr De Luca is still alive. She actually saved his life.” I blinked in confusion when I couldn't understand anything that doctor said.
“Will you please explain it to us all, doctor?” Monty asked.
“After the first surgery, whole stitching him up, the doctor made a mistake. The needle went too deep, puncturing one of your veins. You were internally bleeding and you didn't know. These types of misshapes mostly take away the patient's life. But in your case, your wife's accident actually pushed that blood out of your wound and we got to seal that vein right on time. A few more days and you would have died.” The doctor was very thorough when he explained everything to us.
I couldn't stop my tears at that moment. I thought my actions nearly killed my man but the reality was opposite. I was able to save his life. And it all happened because he was horny enough to touch me as we bathed. Basically, his own actions led us to save his life in time. “Everyone! Get out.” Enzo growled at everyone as he saw my tears.
The medical team left already. Monty pushed Valentina and Suzie out as he walked out of the room. Just as everyone left, Enzo pulled me on top of his chest, making me lay with him on the hospital bed.
“No need to shed another tear, my sweetness. You saved my life. You didn't hurt me in any way. Everything's perfectly fine now.” Enzo was whispering sweetest words in my ear as he wrapped his arms around me. I wanted to stay away but at the same time, I couldn't breathe when he wasn't around.
