REBECCA'S POV:-

A few days later, we were at the druid island in the Arctic ocean. My heart was racing erratically inside my rib cage. I looked at Zanthus. He was staring outside from his side of the window. He was quiet. I knew he was equally disturbed due to the current rising matter. "Curse that fat ass moron. He isn't letting us live a peaceful life." I cursed King Acanthus inside my mind.

An arm snaked around my waist and I was pulled towards Zanthus' tall figure. My head snapped in his direction. To my surprise, Zanthus was still staring out of the window. He might have felt my uneasiness. That's why, he pulled me towards his tall figure. Taking a deep breath, I placed my head in his chest and closed my eyes for a moment.

FLASHBACK:-

I was sitting on top of the kitchen counter. We just had breakfast. Zanthus was standing in front of me. He had his arms wrapped around me. It was time for him to leave for work. With his arms around me, he had his lips pressed with my lips. We were making out. As always, we just couldn't pull away from each other.

Zanthus growled in annoyance while his lips were on my lips. Not that I tried to push him away or anything. I had my arms wrapped around Zanthus' neck to hold him closer.

Zanthus pulled away from me after a moment, growling angrily. "Alpha, I apologise for the inconvenience. But I had to bring this scroll to you as soon as possible." Gamma Ben shouted from outside of the kitchen, making me blush.

Biting my lower lip, I hid my face in Zanthus' chest. "Come in!" Zanthus shouted while he wrapped one of his arms around me to hide me in his arms.

Gamma Ben entered the kitchen and made his way towards us. Zanthus grabbed whatever Gamma Ben brought with him. "What is it?" Zanthus asked Gamma Ben in an annoyed tone.

Zanthus was not in the mood for anyone to interrupt us. "We received this scroll just an hour ago. It's from the druid council, Alpha." Gamma Ben replied to Zanthus in a low tone. I pulled my head out to look into Zanthus' eyes as I also heard Gamma Ben.

"You may leave now. And inform Ronin that I will see him in my office regarding this scroll." Zanthus ordered Gamma Ben then dismissed him. As Gamma Ben left us alone, Zanthus unwrapped the scroll to read it.

A frown appeared on Zanthus' face as he turned his gaze towards me. "Is everything alright, my love? You look disturbed after seeing whatever is inside this scroll." I asked him in a concerned tone.

For a moment, Zanthus forced a small smile on his face because he knew I was worried about him. Yes, it concerned me to see that uneasy look in his eyes. But I was no idiot to be fooled by that fake smile. "Zanthus! We are life partners. You are supposed to tell me whatever is wrong. You are supposed to share all your problems with me. Is it not what the mates are for?" Brushing my knuckles on his cheek, I whispered softly.

This time, his smile reached his eyes. He nodded his head and pecked a soft kiss on my forehead. "This is a summoning order from the druid council. And we are asked to show up as soon as possible." Zanthus whispered softly, staring into my eyes.

A signature that he was no longer hiding anything from me. "Is there a reason why you look so concerned about this summoning scroll?" I asked calmly as I noticed a hint of panic in Zanthus' eyes.

I was not the only one who got terrified of what King Acanthus did to us. And his constant attempts to separate me from Zanthus, all those events were worrying us both. "Yeah! Because I am ordered to bring you with me. I don't have a good feeling about all this." Zanthus replied to me as he engulfed me in his arms tightly.

As if he was afraid of losing me. As if the idea of us getting separated, was tearing his heart from inside. He was not the only one who felt that way. "I can feel what is concerning you. It's concerning me as well. I also have a feeling that it has something to do with that bastard King Acanthus." I whispered softly as I also locked my arms around his torso.

Zanthus placed a soft kiss on top of my head then he pulled away from me. "Would you pack our stuff, please? I need to go and tell my parents about this scroll. I have a feeling. Informing them could do some good." Zanthus whispered while staring into my eyes. Nodding my head, I hopped off of the counter.

I grabbed his hand and gave him the brightest smile I could master at that moment. "Don't worry too much about it. We get into trouble together and we always find a way out together too. Just don't think for once that you are alone." I whispered softly as I intertwined my fingers with his fingers. I pulled his hand towards my face and placed a soft kiss on the back of his hand.

Ruffling my hair playfully, Zanthus stepped away from me then walked away. I made my way towards our bedroom to pack our bags. I had a feeling that Zanthus was also going to use his company's private jet to get to the druid island faster.

FLASHBACK ENDED.

\------------

I opened my eyes again and tilted my head. I found Zanthus staring at me. He had a small smile on his face. Thankfully, that smile reached his eyes. I stretched my neck and placed a soft kiss on his jawline. "As long as we are together, there is nothing in this world that can harm us in any fucking way. I promise you that." I whispered in his ear, making his heart skip a beat or two.

Smiling widely, Zanthus wrapped his arms around me tightly. "I know, my Luna. Your strength is actually giving me strength as well." Zanthus whispered in my ear, rubbing his hand on my back.

The car finally came to a halt. Zanthus' and mine eyes met. Zanthus nodded his head as he intertwined his fingers with mine. He opened the door and pulled me out of the car. We walked towards the palace. A man in a long grey cape walked forward. "Alpha Zanthus of the Onyx Wolf Pack. And Rebecca Hilton of the human world. I welcome you both to the druid island. Please, follow me. The grand druid is actually waiting for you." That man spoke in a low tone.

Nodding our heads, we started following him without asking any questions. Although, we were both very concerned why we were called. The scroll said nothing about the reason why we were summoned to the druid island in such panic. We stayed calm and patient and followed that man quietly. The man we were following, took us towards a huge door in the palace. He nodded his head and the two guards standing in front of the doors, opened the doors for us.

"Right this way!" The man we were following, spoke as he entered the huge hall. Zanthus and I followed him behind, along with Zanthus' parents. Zanthus had left the pack in the hands of Ronin and Ben. While I left all my responsibilities in Canon's hands. He was more than capable of taking my place as the Alpha healer for the pack.

My eyes glowed as I felt a familiar aura around me. My head snapped to the right and I saw King Dorian and Queen Ella sitting among all the people. Zanthus and I, both released a sigh of relief as we saw them both. King Dorian gave me a curt nod. I already knew he was there to stand by our side. Me walked straight towards, what looked like a throne. But it sure was simple. Unlike King Dorian's palace or Acanthus' palace, that Druid palace was simply built with concrete walls and the walls were covered with paint instead of marbled walls.

The throne was a step higher than the ground we were walking on. The chairs were made of simple wood and were covered with the same cotton fabric that I saw on the man we followed to the throne. "Alpha Zanthus and Rebecca Hilton, we are very much glad to see you here. I am the Grand druid of the council, Druid Bulpa Rai." The Grand druid spoke in a low tone.

As he introduced himself, both Zanthus and I bowed our heads to show him and the druid council our respect. Zanthus already briefed me about the druid council and how I was supposed to behave in front of them. We looked back up at the Grand druid. He gestured his hand towards his right and we turned our gaze as well.

"This is Druid Gayla. He is here to defend you. Do you know why the council called you here?" The Grand druid asked us. Zanthus and I shook our heads, we were unaware of why we were called in the first place.

"You may take your seats. I shall explain the situation to you. And please, call the plaintiff, Druid Mumba." The Grand druid ordered. We both bowed in respect in front of the Grand druid and we walked towards our seats. We sat down and waited for the Grand druid to tell us why we were summoned.

My eyes glowed green as I sensed a familiar power behind me. Growling in anger, I turned my face. Both Zanthus and I were glaring at the bastard as he walked towards the Grand druid. "Rebecca Hilton, you and your husband are called here because of a compliment king Acanthus made against Alpha Zanthus." The Grand druid started speaking. My eyes were on Acanthus. The smirk on his face, I wanted to scratch that smirk off of his face.

Zanthus' presence beside me was the only reason why I didn't lose my shit as I heard why we were called all the way from our pack to the druid island. "Thank you, my Lord. King Acanthus placed a complaint in the druid council. He claims that Alpha Zanthus of the Onyx Wolf Pack has married King Acanthus' fated mate. And he refused to leave her even after King Acanthus told Alpha Zanthus that Rebecca Hilton is King Acanthus' fated mate." Druid Mumba spoke in a low tone.

I gulped hard as an uneasy feeling started to settle inside my chest. "Is it true, Alpha Zanthus? Did king Acanthus tell you that Rebecca Hilton is his mate? Yet you decided not to let her go." The Grand druid asked Zanthus in an angry tone.

Zanthus narrowed his head and I frowned in confusion. It was not what I was expecting from Zanthus. I was expecting him to say something. But he was silent. I followed Zanthus' gaze. He was staring at the druid Gayla, waiting for him to say something. To my surprise, druid Gayla didn't even bother to look at Zanthus. As if he was not bothered at all.

For some reason, it all looked exactly like I was in the human court. The difference was that in human court, a person had the authority to choose their own lawyer. "So this Gayla asshole is our lawyer and he is literally avoiding our gaze." I thought to myself. I stood up and stepped forward.

"Pardon me, Grand druid, but I have a request for the druid council as well." I spoke in a low tone. I could feel Zanthus' eyes on me. But I didn't look at him. Not yet.

"Speak up your mind, Rebecca Hilton." The Grand druid spoke in a low tone, staring at me so curiously.

"I am freeing druid Gayla from his services. I would like to defend my husband myself in the druid council. I seek your permission." I requested the Grand druid exactly how I requested the judge back at the military court when I was charged with murder of my whole unit.

"Are you sure you will be able to handle it on your own, Rebecca Hilton? A Druid knows all the ways to defend you in front of the druid council. You, on the other hand, have no idea what you are about to be doing." The Grand druid asked me in a low tone and I gulped hard. It was definitely no joke. A simple mistake could destroy everything Zanthus and I worked so hard for.

The panic started to rise inside of me. I closed my eyes to calm myself down. But it made everything worse. With my active Aura, I was able to see every single face that was inside that hall. The victorious smirks on the faces of the people who were expecting me to lose. I could almost see them celebrating their victory way before the hearing had even started.

Just then, my aura engulfed my favourite person in his arms. I felt his comforting warmth engulfing me. As if he knew that I was sensing him, a small smile appeared on his face as he slowly nodded his head. As if reassuring me to have a little faith in myself. That was all I needed to get all my confidence back.

I opened my eyes again and looked at the Grand druid. "I am positive that I am more than capable of defending my husband in front of the druid council. It is no different than the human court. So I know what I am doing, Grand druid. Please, grant me this request." I replied to the Grand druid in a confident tone. I felt Zanthus smiling
because of my aura. I knew how overjoyed he was to see me taking stand for us both. I couldn't help but smile, sensing his feelings inside me.
