Chapter 50 Biggest Mission Ever

Chapter 50 Biggest Mission Ever
Carlos is treating me like a queen with no function. I don’t mean it in a bad way obviously, I mean it in the best possible way.

I am sitting on the bed, the blanket covering me from toes to my chest. Carlos walked into the room with a bowl of soup.

I couldn’t help but smile. "You really don’t have to do all of this."

He scoffed. "I do. I can’t stand back watching my woman being weak while I’m not doing anything to help her."

He placed the soup bowl on the mini table in front of me, and then he started feeding me. The first bite made it clear that it was nothing more than a homemade soup. I can’t believe he actually arranged it for me.

He’s so sweet, sometimes I forget that he’s the same man who forced me to marry him.

"Homemade," I said, trying to stop the cheeky smile on my face from broadening.

"Only the best for you," He said as he fed me a spoonful. "I know it’s not the right time to say this, but we are leaving for Europe today."

"What’s in Europe that we are going there?" I asked.

"The Oro code is there. We don’t know the exact location of it, but I believe we should go there first. After all, we can’t stay here for the longest time."

"Okay," I said slightly worried.

He cupped my face. "Yes, but don’t worry, it will be fine."

"Yeah, I know," I said, taking another sip of the soup. Then I asked, "What about the training and practice? We haven’t finished."

He sighed softly. "There is no time for that, we just have to move, okay?"

I nodded.

Carlos goes on to tell me how the Menendezes are already in search of me and would do anything to find me. I already have that at the back of my mind. I’ve seen the way they behave, and I’ve seen how badly it is. They can do anything to anyone as long as it benefits them. They are just a set of wicked people, and I really wish that I weren’t related to them.

Each time I think about it, I can’t help but feel like God must have hated me so much to not only give me a terminal illness but parents who want to kill me before nature can.

After having soup, I rested for a couple of minutes to feel better before Carlos and I headed to the airport, where the private jet was waiting for us.

Carlos and I stepped in, and soon we were on air. I thought I’d feel better once we are on air as I know we can’t be attacked there but honestly, I didn’t. I wasn’t relieved at all, in fact, I was still scared because we are now going to where it all started, and I’m afraid the Menendez would be right there waiting for our arrival. After all, Carlos did say that they are doing everything they can to get to me.

I just don’t get it. It’s one thing to want me back, but it’s another to torture everyone around me until they get to me. That’s just diabolical. Why can’t they just make it fair like Carlos’s family is doing? They want me, they attack and get only me, not everyone around me.

I was completely lost in my thoughts, digging from one wonder to another, when I felt Carlos’s hand on mine. I turned to him, and he smiled softly. "It would be fine." He said as if he had read my mind.

I smiled weakly. At this point, I don’t know if it would be. I just want to get this done once and for all. I can’t keep harping on one thing for a very long time.

"You know, if it makes you feel any better, Europe is a lot safer. I have my men all over there and the security is very tight, so you don’t really have to worry, you’ll be safe," He said.

"It’s not just about me, will the others be safe?" I asked.

He hesitated for a moment, a sigh escaping his lips. "I won’t let anything happen to anyone."

"Promise?" I asked.

He nodded. "I promise." He squeezed my hand to comfort me.

Just then the waiter comes up with a tray of snacks and plates them before us. Carlos handed the sandwich to me and then took a bite. Just as I was about to take a bite, he grabbed it from me and tossed it aside. "It has avocado paste."

My eyes bulged as my heart stopped "I’m allergic," I said, horrified.

"I know," He replied. He called the waiter back, scolded him, and made sure to inform him to never put avocado in my food. Though I made sure Carlos wasn’t too harsh on him as I know that it was an honest mistake.

When the waiter went away I couldn’t help but ask

"How did you know I am allergic to avocado?" I asked.

He shrugged as a smile danced across his face. "I told you, I followed you all your life."

"I keep forgetting about that."

He laughed dryly "It’s not awkward though, I only did it to protect you."

I smiled, even though deep down I felt weird about it.

Later that day, I was resting my head on Carlos’s shoulder when a muscular man walked up to us, holding a map. "Sir Carlos, I have the map ready."

"Open it," Carlos commanded.

The man opened it, and Carlos started speaking. "This is the map of Europe, and we’ve marked the possible places the Oro code could be. We’ve checked it all in the past, but we were unable to locate it. That’s not even the main issue, the main issue is that we can’t open the Ore code without a fingerprint. That’s why we need you, Nala," He said.

I nodded.

Carlos went on to tell me everything, and with each piece of information, my heart raced faster as I realized this isn’t just a little mission—it’s the biggest one yet.
