ZENE'S POV
I Woke up in a white room, I look around and felt my hand numb, I moved and saw an IV on it.
Then my left hand felt heavy, I saw Vero holding it while he is asleep.
I can't remember how I ended up here in the hospital. All I thought was we argued and I felt dizzy so I fell asleep.
This is the usual effect of oral chemo, and I am used to it.
I can't help myself from feeling happy. Vero was concerned of me, the proof is him, staying with me.
I caress his soft hair. In months of living together, I finally did this to him.
Our last intimate moment was on our honeymoon. That night will be forever encrypted in my memory.
He moved, but I still continued to caress his hair, this is my chance.
I jolted when he captured my hand, and he opens his eyes.
"Zene! Thank God you're awake. I'll call Doctor Dale." then he quickly go out.
Call me crazy but I am thankful of being in the hospital because I saw Vero is concerned of me.
Even just for that, I am happy that he noticed me.
I know that he already found out about my illness.
Dr. Dale came together with Vero.
"How are you feeling Zene?" He said while checking my vitals.
"I am alright Doc.. This is normal since I started taking oral Chemo." I look at Vero and guilt was visible on his eyes.
"You dont want an actual chemo?"
"I am okay with what I am taking Doc."
Doctor Dale look at Mew and they both shook their head.
"So far, you are okay.. You can go home later."
Then Dr. Dale go out, Vero came close and I am shock when he hold my hand.
"I'm sorry.. I'm sorry.. I was so bad at you.. Please hate me, please hurt me.. I'll accept anything.. Just please hate me." He crouch his head on my hand, I can feel the hot liquid of tears on them.
"Hey.. No need to say sorry. You didn't do anything wrong."
"I am a bad husband, I didn't treat you well... I didn't notice what you are going through, why you didn't tell me?" He look at me, I wipe his tears. My tears started to form.
"Because, I want you to accept me as I am, not because I am sick, I don't want a love out of PITY. I don't deserve that."
I said to him in a low voice.
He shook his head repeatedly.
"No, it's me who doesn't deserve you, please be well, I will do anything please please undergo chemo." his voice is pleading.
"Fine, after this session of oral chemo I'll undergo an actual chemo." I agreed because I know he wont stop.
"I'm sorry.. Will you still accept as your husband?"
"of course, why not, you're too good to be true, anyway did you call my parents?". I asked him when I saw him calm down.
"Not yet, I'm waiting for you to wake up so I can ask you if you want them to know".
"They deserved to know, for whatever happened they won't be shock."
"Nothing will happen on you." He said in firm voice like he knew the future.
"I will make it up to you I'll correct my misdeeds, we will be happy and be together for a long time, right?"
I smiled dryly. I don't want to give him false hopes. I didn't have a heart to ask him about his boyfriend. Did they break up?
I nodded at him I don't want to talk or I'll break down crying.
He called our parents then a few moments later, our mothers came in.
I didn't see any emotions but I know they are bottling it up.
I rarely saw my parents, they were often overseas.
"Son." my mom hugged me tight.
"Mom, I'm okay."
"Why you didn't tell us?" Mew's mom said.
"It is already on Stage 3 Mom when I found out, if this is my fate, then let it be." I hold my mom's hand and I saw her crying.
"I wanna go home, I felt sick here more."
"Are you feeling okay?"
"Mom, I am okay, it's the effect of the oral chemo, that's why Vero took me here,"
My mother sulked.
"I am hurt, why do you endure this alone?"
"Mom, don't waste your tears, I am still alive and kicking." I laugh to ease the sad atmosphere.
Vero's Dad and My father came in.
"Aren't you gonna scold me too?" I tease them. They come close and hugged me.
"Hey guys you're squeezing my wife!" Vero entered the room.
"I already settled the bill, parents.. You should go ahead."
"Please let's have dinner at home." I pleaded on them and they agreed then they leave.
"I'll call you babe from now on, I'll make it up to you. Let's start a new. I will be with you in this fight. This is just cancer babe... We are strong. We can do this, right?"
I don't know if I will cry or laugh on him.
But of course, with my husband beside me, I will fight until my fate ends.
