Chapter 10 Ending
Final chapter.
VERO'S POV
Who would've thought that after our date, Gulf passed out and we ended up on the hospital.
I talked to the Doctor, "How is he?"
"He badly needs a donor."
"Try me. If we match, I will donate my stem cell."
He nodded "Fine, follow me."
I followed him, he brought me to a room, they check me if I am match to be Zene's donor.
Hours passed, we are scheduled for operation, we matched.
I am happy even though we are still unsure.
"This is our last card. If this stem cell transplant failed. We will just accept his fate."
We are both in the OR, while our parents are waiting outside, both sides pray for Zene's fast recovery.
I woke up feeling well, they just get stem cell so I recover immediately.
I am thinking of Zene's because they did a chemo session along with the surgery.
"How's Zene mom?"
"He's doing well. But still under observation until the stem cell settled on his body."
My Mom guide me to the ICU.
I felt a fang slash my heart when I look at him, a lot of tubes connected on him on the machines around him.
Few days passed and Gulf is doing well but the doctor said he will stay for further monitoring.
We talked and talked happily until one night he is restless and sleepless.
"Babe, are you not feeling well?"
"I'm fine babe, I just can't sleep."
"Fight for me babe.. Fight for us." I hugged him.
"Of course babe." he nodded.
I look at him, his pale face, his plum lips, his dark eyes, he is suffering.
I felt a pinch on my heart.
Am I that selfish to see him suffering but still asking him to fight?
I didn't notice that it is already morning
"Open the window babe. I wanna see the sunrise. You know why I love the sunrise more? Because it is a proof that if something will end, something will start."
I just listened to while he is looking outside the window.
"Babe maybe the reason why you didn't love me immediately before because someone outthere, that is meant for you, someone you'll love wholeheartedly without forcing yourself." He chuckled drily.
"Babe stop saying that words." I shook my head.
He smiled at me then he started to catch his breath.
"Babe... Babe.. I'll call the doctor!"
I pressed the emergency button. Then Doctor Dean came along with the emergency response team.
They revive him after three tries.
I felt numb, I am shaking while looking at my beloved as he is slowly snatching away by death.
"Babe..." I whispered. I restraint myself to not cry.
I didn't notice our parents. They put Zene on the ICU again.
Dr. Dean approached us.
"I will be honest, he will not stay for long, better say goodbye and let him go rather than seeing him suffering."
My rage rose up, I clutch his neckline.
"Who are you to say that? Are you God?!"
My father stopped me. Then realization hit me. He is suffering. I need to let him go.
It hurts, but we need to accept.
I approach him and I hold his hand.
"Babe , If you are tired, take a rest already. Please rest. I love you so much. I don't want to see you suffering." I muffled my sobs. But it goes out of my throat. I wail like a child.
His parents came close. His mom was saying something when the machines around him beep nonstop.
I looked at the heartbeat monitor and it turn FLAT LINE.
Dr. Dean checked him.
"Time of death, 11:59am."
My breath hitch. And I hug my mom.
It hurts it is very painful. I felt like my heart was slash and someone put salt on it.
He ALREADY LEFT US, HE LEFT ME.
I hugged his body. I felt his body warmth for the last time.
The person who did anything and love me, took care of me despite my indifferences.
To those who love someone. Let them feel your love let them know that you c
Love them. Cherish the time that they are still beside you because in this world, NOTHING IS PERMANENT.
IF YOU LOVE THEM, SHOW THEM. BEFORE IT WILL BE TOO LATE.
