Chapter 106
Chapter 106
Ava’s POV
My stomach knotted into several knots as I stared at Justin. How the hell did he know about this? He was the second person to say something about this to me, and I could not help but feel so scared. How many other people suspected this?
“You don’t have to think so hard about this. I can see the shock and surprise in your eyes. It is true then. So tell me, what is it like to have sex with your brother?” Justin asked and placed a hand under his chin, an excited look in his eyes.
I sighed deeply and knew for a fact that there was no point in lying to him. After all, my stint with Dale was over. He didn’t want me anymore, and my heart was still hurting from keeping all of this to myself.
“Fine. You are right. He and I have had sex, but it is not in the way that you think.” I straightened up and faced him. “Dale is not my brother. He and I are not related by blood at all,” I explained.
“Okay, so you both were adopted?” He raised his brow, and I nodded.
“Yeah. Aunt Clara adopted him, while Aunt Clara’s twin—my mom—adopted me. My mom died some months ago, and Aunt Clara took charge of me ever since,” I explained.
“And I guess that was when the feelings began to bud, eh?” He raised his brows, and I could see the hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.
My hands itched to strike his face and wipe that smirk off.
“Well, yeah, but you do not have to worry about it. We are done and over now,” I said to him, my mood quickly dipping as a weird sense of depression washed over me.
“What? You both are no longer having sex? But why? He isn’t that good anymore?” The moment Justin asked that question, his eyes lit up with excitement, and I could tell that he was banking on that being true so that he could tease Dale about it.
Well, lucky for Dale, that was not true. There was only one person who had fucked me half as good as he did, but that person was a mystery.
“You wish. Dale is good. Really good even,” I said and quickly drifted to the numerous nights where we were holed up on his bed, making hot, sexy love with each other until we were well spent.
“From the excited cheesy smile on your face, I can tell for certain that the sex is really good,” Justin snickered, and I swatted him hard on the arm.
“Don’t talk to me like that. I can tell that you’re just jealous that you’re not half as good as he is,” I hissed at him.
“Well, you can never know how good I am, but that is by the way. Why did the both of you stop having sex? Let me guess, it is because of his assault on me?” He asked, sudden realization washing over him.
I nodded, not having the strength or mental energy to begin to tell him that I had fallen into bed with Dale after the incident and he had rejected me as soon as he had gotten what he wanted.
“Oh shit! That was too bad, and somehow I now feel guilty about that. No wonder he felt so threatened when he saw me. The fact that you both were having sex now explains a lot to me. I no longer hate him like I used to before.” He winked at me.
“Oh, please don’t feel bad. Sooner or later, Dale and I would have had to stop having sex with each other. It was just a matter of time. Everything was leading to that,” I said solemnly as a fresh wave of sadness washed over me.
I had not fully mourned the loss of my relationship with Dale, but I knew that it had to happen. He had not been ready to let go of Vanessa, and neither could we be ourselves with each other. It was a form of bondage, and that wasn’t healthy.
The next moment that I raised my head, I found my aunt standing at the other end of the table with Mr. Rice by her side. A shocking chill ran down my spine the moment I saw her. Had she heard me? Did she know what Justin and I were just discussing? Her expressionless face made it hard for me to gauge what she knew, but I could not help but feel that my secret was out in the open.
“Aunt Clara, welcome back. I did not know that you were going to come home today. Justin here had told me you were spending the night at Mr. Rice’s,” I blabbered as fear and shock ran down my entire body.
She glanced at Justin, and my gaze followed hers. Just like me, Justin was scared, and he had his gaze fixed on the table, not bothering to meet any of our eyes. Shit! If he looked like this, then it is certain that my aunt had really overheard us.
“So you and my son are having sex under my roof, huh?” she asked, her gaze piercing straight at me without any pause or break.
I swear that I died a thousand times hearing her say this to me. My gaze fell to the floor as I imagined what she was going to do to me. I had broken her trust, and for this, I deserved to be punished.
“Miss Newton, please don’t be harsh on her. I know your son Dale, and I know just how persuasive he can be. Please, he must have seduced her,” Justin jumped on his feet and began to defend me as though his life depended on it.
I was grateful to him for standing up for me, but I honestly did not want him to get into trouble. This was my mess, and I had better face the music myself.
“Justin, it is okay,” I whispered to him.
He stared at me in shock for a few seconds and shook his head.
Tense, thick silence enveloped all of us as I stood before my aunt, wondering what she was going to do to me now that the truth was out. Just when my life was beginning to look up, I just had to ruin it.
I took a peek, and I could see Mr. Rice silently staring at me, while my aunt was deep in thought.
Finally, my aunt straightened up, and I quickly threw my gaze away from her, scared to meet the fire of her eyes. Her next words, however, shook me.
“Are you in love with Dale?”
I shot her a shocked look, surprised that she would ask that. She ought to be raining down brimstone and fire on me.
“Answer my question, Ava. Are you in love with my son?” she questioned, and I smiled sadly at her.
She had no idea just how much.
