Chapter 86: Safe Haven

Alexia's POV.

If he wasn't mine then whose child was he?," Kian's voice echoed through the entire compound. Strands from his Chestnut wavy hair falling all over his face as the veins on his forehead throbbed, threatening to burst out of his head.

Why do you even care huh? Why do you care" My voice threatening to bring down the building. The nerve of him to show up demanding who Kian was.

He paced back and forth, running a hand through his hair as he did, "Now tell me, tell me how old that baby is" his teeth seemed like they were going to shatter from the force of the gritted teeth.

"He is two years old" shrugging my shoulders like it was no big deal. I dragged my eyes behind Kia, observing the guards, thankfully they seemed livid at the ongoing exchange between Kia and I.

"Kia leave now," my outstretched arms pointed towards the gate.

"You can not deny the fact that the kid is a spitting image of me, Alexia," he inched forward, shaking me violently as if wanting his words to sink into my brain.

"Well, I can't see it,  Alpha Kia." Knocking his hands off my shoulders, "Why are you here anyway? Shouldn't you be tending to your pack affairs, rather than snooping around in someone else's business?"

"I am sorry, Alexia"

"Well, that's new, Alpha Kia", crossing my hands over my chest.

"I really am, believe me."

"You're sorry for what exactly!!"

"Everything Alexia"

"No, I am not ready to listen to that drama, get up and leave"

"Alexia pleas-

"Leave Kia. Don't make me call the security."

"You haven't seen the last of me Alexia. I will be back." He trailed off as he walked towards the gate.

As long as he left the gate, my knees gave up and I began pouring out my pathetic heart in shrieks, clutching my chest tightly as I did.

"Momma?" Kian's voice rang behind me, the sounds of his flip-flops slapping against his heels as he trudged his little legs towards me.

"Tell me, Mom, is the bad guy gone"

"Yes honey"

"What happened momma,"  Crutching to my level, his little arms wrapped around my body, nestling his face against my bossoms. The silky feel of his hair against my fingers as I stroke his hair in response.

"Nothing baby, look at me" cupping his face in my palms. "What did he tell you"

"Kian what did he tell you", I demanded again, my voice stern.

"Well momma", he scratched his hair, still staring at the distance behind me, "he said he wanted to see my papa"

"And what did you tell him Kian."

"That-- that.  That I didn't know my papa momma and that you wouldn't tell me and...'

.

"And what Kian",  my voice causing him to shrink back.

"That I have Uncle Garvin"

Slapping my forehead with my palm, shrieking at the stinging pain that followed. My gaze lingered on Kian, his warm caramel eyes, that were identical to that of Kia, glistening with the tears that threatened to fall. Dabbing the tears from his eyes as gently as I could.

Muttering curse words to the moon goddess, for choosing to punish me by making me stare at Kian's reflection every day.

"Let us go in" I finally announced, struggling to get on my feet.

"Momma are you upset with me" his eyes examined my face with keen interest.

"Yes, baby I am. You don't give out information about yourself or your parents all Willy nilly, understood?"

"Understood momma, I'm sorry Mommy."

"It's fine."

"I heard the Alpha of the black-blood pack was here earlier."

My body stiffened and my grip on the fork I held became tighter.

"Uh, what Alpha?" I squeaked between mouthfuls.

"Come, Alexia,  I never knew you to be someone who pretends"

"Fine he came, but it's no big deal"

"No big deal? Alexia, he had been after you since the party."

'Reasons why I said he was a minor case. Who knows he  might be looking to get an autograph or sum'n"

"And you think it's just an autograph?"

I shrugged, raising the glass of orange juice to my lips

"And here I thought we were friends"

"No Garvin, it's... it's nothing like that. I'm just not yet ready to share that part of my history just yet."

His head moved slowly in up-and-down motions.

The temperature in the room was still very much at zero degrees. His bony hands moved the spoon swiftly, scooping it from the plate and into his mouth.

Maybe was right, I was a terrible friend. I should have let him know who Kian's dad was. I knew they wouldn't accept me in their midst because of their long-term rivalry.

"Where are you going, Garvin?" I questioned as he rose to his feet, pushing his place of food away.

"I'm full"

"what do you mean full Garvin,  I mean you barely touch your food," ignoring my words he beckoned on Lisa to come clear the table, " Lisa where the f*** are you?"

" I'm coming, sir Garvin"

"Garvin,  are you upset at me because of Kia? please listen to me nothing is going on between me and  Kia"

"How can I trust you, Alexia? Huh ?" He chuckled, but it wasn't at all in a friendly manner. "All these years, you sat here, lying to me over and over again"

"That's not true, Garvin. You know me better than that"

Don't you dare say that because I barely know you? Okay, let's start with this... Where are you from?"

"The- the black-blood pack," not daring to look up at him.

"Wow wow" The sound of his slow clap, sent shivers down my spine. Throwing me into a frenzy. "I have been living with an enemy all these while, isn't it?" He cocked his head.

"This is the reason why I decided against letting you know my origin. I - I was scared that you might do something horrible to Kian and me. I was just trying to protect us" my words coming out in between sobs.

"And Kia huh, tell me why is he here? Or is it" he took a dramatic pause and gazed deeply into my eyes as if searching for answers that were buried deep inside them, "is he Kian's father?"

"Yes yes, he is"
