Chapter 26: Advance of One Hundred Thousand in Salary

Amelia wept uncontrollably in Oliver's arms, no longer caring about her image, feeling that life always liked to toy with her, not allowing her to live a happy life.

Oliver, looking at the person crying in his arms, felt a tightness in his heart as well. At this critical moment, he found himself at a loss for words. His usually aloof expression revealed a hint of panic.

He dared not imagine what would have happened if he had arrived just a moment later...

Perhaps only facing a life-and-death separation could Oliver realize that Amelia meant more to him than just a lover; she had long become an irreplaceable presence in his heart.

"Stop crying, your makeup is all smeared, you look terrible," Oliver said, trying to comfort her.

Amelia, already feeling wronged, cried even louder upon hearing Oliver's straightforward comment: "Everyone bullies me... Oliver, what should I do... I really don't know what to do..."

Realizing his comment was of no help, Oliver resorted to more assertive measures. He lifted Amelia's chin, leaned down, and kissed her, which effectively silenced her sobs.

However, the bitter tears still slid down Amelia's cheeks to the corner of her mouth. Unable to speak, she felt that Oliver, the big scoundrel, was taking advantage of her in this moment. In a fit of anger, she bit Oliver hard.

His mouth bleeding from the bite, Oliver released her. Looking at Amelia with her grievance-filled eyes, he smiled. "Are you a dog? Seems like you're fine, you still have the strength to bite me."

With that, he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand and, without further ado, picked up Amelia from the ground. "Come on, if you've cried enough, let's go eat. I'll stay with you tonight."

Amelia didn't want to talk; she was tired from crying and let Oliver do as he pleased without a word.

Life had thrown her a curveball, but she couldn't run away; she had her grandmother to think about and couldn't just give up.

At the dinner table, Amelia didn't leave Oliver's lap. Today, she was in charge, with Oliver feeding her personally. With little appetite, after eating a few mouthfuls, Amelia leaned against Oliver and listlessly said, "I don't want to eat anymore, I want to sleep. Carry me to bathe."

Oliver, uncharacteristically patient, could be said to reserve all his patience exclusively for Amelia. "Alright."

He carried Amelia upstairs, leaving the servants with expressions of surprise. Today, Miss Amelia did not resist her young master, and the master's eyes held a trace of heartache.

Oliver held her as they slept, his broad and sturdy chest offering a strong sense of security. Amelia slept soundly that night.

Aware of the steady breathing beside him, Oliver looked down to see the girl who had cried so sorrowfully today; she must have been bullied, which pained him.

Without disturbing Amelia, Oliver took out his phone and arranged for his assistant to investigate who Amelia had interacted with that day. His people were not to be mistreated by outsiders.

The next morning, Amelia awoke to find herself tightly embraced by Oliver. Her face flushed as the embarrassment of last night ran through her mind. How could she have shown him that side of her? However, his embrace was truly warm...

Unconsciously, she reached out to touch Oliver's eyelashes, but was caught off guard when he opened his eyes. Amelia quickly sat up, trying to hide her embarrassment.

"You take me to work today," she blurted out, not expecting herself to have become so bold.

Oliver also got up and gave her a good morning kiss: "Of course, as you wish."

They now, how are they a bit like a couple in love? Amelia blushed again, feeling ashamed of herself.

Oliver saw everything; his child was indeed adorable.

Back at the office, Amelia approached Zoe to advance her salary.

The one hundred thousand that Zachary demanded, she would deal with it first, and then after finishing her work, she would settle accounts with Zachary properly.

Zoe didn't ask many questions, and the one hundred thousand salary quickly arrived in Amelia's account. However, the look in her eyes towards Amelia still carried a sense of pity.

"Amelia, if you have any difficulties, you can tell me. I will help you if I can."

"Okay, thank you, Zoe."

With the money in hand, Amelia returned to her seat and dialed Zachary's number.

"The one hundred thousand you wanted is ready. If you want it, come and get it now."

Her tone was full of disgust and hatred. She would never let this scum off the hook.

In the noisy casino, Zachary received the call, discarding his good cards; he was going to get the money.

Amelia stood at the studio's entrance waiting for him. Seeing Zachary arrive, she led him to a small open space next to the studio.

She couldn't bring negative impacts to the studio.

"Here's the money. If you touch my grandmother, I will fight you with my life," Amelia said with a murderous look in her eyes; her grandmother was her bottom line.

Zachary, however, was only concerned with counting the money and didn't listen to Amelia's words.

After counting, a greasy smile appeared on Zachary's face, and he reached out to touch Amelia's face.

"If you had done this earlier, there would have been no need for resistance. This pretty face, it's just like your mother's; you could be a prostitute."

Amelia's anger flared at the mention of her mother. She didn't want to give him the money anymore and tried to snatch it back, but Zachary pushed her to the ground and left.

Helpless, Amelia lay on the ground until Zoe came out to check on her and helped her up.

"Amelia, are you okay?"

"I'm fine."

Amelia pretended to be calm and returned to her seat. As soon as she sat down, Chloe called.

"Hey, is my design draft ready? It's been so many days, what have you been doing?!"

Her tone was full of difficulty and questioning.

Amelia didn't speak, and Chloe continued on the other end.

"You're a gold medal designer; I'll let the world know and ruin your reputation."

"If Miss Chloe is going to make things difficult for me and doesn't trust me, then please find someone else. I quit."

She was unusually calm now, her heart as still as death. Chloe had been deliberately tripping her up, and she had endured it all. But now, with Chloe's insulting words, she would not agree.

Chloe didn't expect Amelia to be so tough today and was taken aback. She was about to get angry when the phone went to a busy signal.

Unbelievable, Amelia dared to hang up on her?!

Fine, opposing her, Chloe, would only end badly.

After calming her anger, Chloe made a call to the Tax Bureau's report line.

Her father had connections there, so Chloe had the confidence to distort the truth.

After hanging up, Amelia lay on the table, unsure whether to cry or laugh; her heart was a mix of emotions.

However, the studio was suddenly inspected by the Tax Bureau, and coincidentally, violations were found.

Everything was so strange; Amelia suspected Chloe might be behind it but had no evidence.

In the end, despite Zoe's pleas, the Tax Bureau ordered the studio to suspend operations for rectification.

After seeing off the troublesome group, Zoe complained:

"This is just bad luck!"
