Chapter 13: May My Grandmother Live to a Hundred

After bidding farewell to Victor, Amelia returned to the hotel with a contented heart, her lips curved in a smile that never seemed to fade throughout the journey. It was evident how delighted she was. Seeing her joy, Oliver's heart was also touched, and his mouth unconsciously lifted in a smile.

In high spirits, Amelia unusually took the initiative to speak at length: "Did you know? He just complimented me on my talent! To be praised by a master in the industry feels like this! I'm motivated now!"

Oliver quietly observed her proud expression, reminiscent of a child who had achieved good grades and came home to demand rewards from their parents. It made Amelia feel that Oliver was somewhat gentle at the moment??

Not wanting to concern herself with these feelings, Amelia returned to the hotel, realizing it was time to pack for the flight back to New York the next morning. The trip was not without its gains; she had obtained a peace talisman for her grandmother and met Designer Victor.

Amelia quickly fell asleep, and Oliver heeded the doctor's advice that sexual activity should be moderated, as Amelia's body could not withstand too much strain.

Oliver was somewhat surprised at his own change; Amelia had somehow begun to influence his decisions.

On the early morning flight, Oliver still meticulously arranged breakfast. Amelia didn't have much to pack, so there was plenty of time to sit down and enjoy the meal.

No matter where they went, Oliver held Amelia's hand, fearing that the little fox might run away if he wasn't attentive.

For some reason, Amelia took a look back when Oliver wasn't paying attention and, not seeing Lucas, she felt relieved. It seemed Lucas had truly lost heart. This was for the best.

At the boarding gate, Amelia and Oliver's fingers were interlocked. The woman's face was inscrutable, but the man's gaze towards the woman was far from innocent.

Inside the business class, the wealthy were meticulously enjoying first-class service. Amelia, however, had a habit of falling asleep as soon as she boarded the plane, a trait she had since childhood.

Oliver was also dealing with work matters, managing a thousand affairs daily, yet he always had time for Amelia.

Suddenly, a severe turbulence jolted Amelia awake from her dreams.

The captain's voice came over the loudspeaker: "Attention all passengers, the plane is currently passing through an air pocket. Please do not panic and trust our flight attendants."

Panic still spread through the cabin; many had never experienced such an incident and were now in a state of panic.

Oliver remained as steady as a rock, but Amelia might not have been as composed.

She had people she cared about; if she were alone, she might have faced death indifferently. However, her grandmother was still ill in bed, and she couldn't just let go. She would not close her eyes in peace if her grandmother was left unattended.

"What should I do? My grandmother is still in the hospital; I can't afford to have anything happen..."

Her trembling voice reached Oliver's ears. He, intently staring at his computer screen, retorted with his usual sarcasm: "Dying alongside me is an honor for you."

Amelia was genuinely terrified now, truly afraid of an accident, and her body couldn't help but tremble.

Oliver noticed the异样 of the person beside him and, despite himself, couldn't resist comforting her: "Don't worry, this is a normal phenomenon. The plane is passing through a region of strong turbulence, causing the aircraft to shake. Once we're past this area, the plane will return to smooth operation."

Oliver's words were like a reassurance, calming Amelia inexplicably. She clutched Oliver's arm tightly, feeling safer that way.

Fortunately, as Oliver had said, the plane regained its smooth operation after passing through the air pocket.

The plane safely arrived at New York Airport. As they disembarked, Oliver's phone rang.

He thought it was a work call and wanted to hang up, but upon seeing the caller ID, he answered it.

"Uncle Shen, what can I do for you?"

Amelia realized it was Chloe's father, Logan Parker.

Facing an elder, Oliver still showed the deference of a younger generation.

The Parker and Maxwell families had been friends for generations, and the engagement between Oliver and Chloe had been arranged by their grandfathers. Therefore, Oliver dared not go against his grandfather's wishes when facing Chloe.

"Are you back? Come over for dinner later; I have something to tell you."

"Okay, I'm back and will be there soon."

After ending the call, Amelia's face showed no emotion, and Oliver nonchalantly said: "We'll have dinner at the Parkers later."

Amelia found it amusing and couldn't help but mock herself: "Me? What identity should I have at the Parkers'? Your mistress? Or your niece? Don't you think my status is a bit awkward?"

Oliver didn't expect Amelia to say this. The little fox's attitude was so resistant; he could almost taste jealousy.

Amelia understood that going to the Parkers' would naturally involve encountering Chloe, and she didn't want to see Chloe's aggressive face.

Moreover, at the Parkers', she would definitely be at a disadvantage.

Oliver couldn't persuade her and had no choice but to arrange for an assistant to take Amelia home.

"Then go home alone, be good, don't think about running, I'll be back soon."

His tone was flatly warning, implying Oliver's dangerous flavor.

Amelia wasn't thinking along those lines; under Oliver's arrangement, her grandmother had received more professional nursing care. She wasn't foolish; she could distinguish the pros and cons.

Back at the villa, Amelia dropped her luggage in her room and prepared to go out, wanting to visit her grandmother in the hospital.

She had been on a business trip for two days and missed her grandmother's embrace.

Amelia appeared in the ward with a fruit basket; her grandmother was sleeping and noticed someone approaching, opening her eyes.

Seeing that it was her beloved granddaughter, her grandmother beamed:

"My darling is back. Come here and let me see if you've been eating well during your two-day trip."

Amelia obediently went over, allowing her grandmother to feel her all over and see that there had been no change in Amelia before she was reassured.

"How about it, your granddaughter is still eating well and being very obedient."

Her grandmother fondly rubbed her hair, and the grandmother and granddaughter hugged, creating a very warm scene.

Thinking of something, Amelia got up from her grandmother's embrace and took out a talisman from her bosom as if it were a treasure.

She spoke in a boastful manner:

"Grandma, this is a talisman I got from the church to ensure your longevity. You, little old lady, must stay by my side for a lifetime."

"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you."

Her grandmother happily took the talisman, treasured it in her palm, her eye corners' wrinkles gathered due to her smile, looking at Amelia with a face full of kindness.

The medical staff, watching the harmonious scene between the grandmother and granddaughter, were envious that the grandmother had such a good granddaughter who would visit whenever she had time.

The grandmother was not modest and praised her granddaughter to the nurse.
