Edward waved at her and stepped forward to take the suitcase from Linnet Aguilar's hand. "Linnet, long time no see."

Linnet tilted her head and smiled. "Aren't you supposed to compliment me on how much prettier I've become?"

Edward looked at her, dressed very conservatively. "Sorry, I really didn't notice that."

Linnet laughed out loud. "You're still so old-fashioned, no wonder you can't find a girlfriend!"

Edward didn't want to discuss his love life with others, so he didn't continue the topic. "Let's go, I'll take you to Red Rose Bistro."

Linnet nodded. "Thank you."

Along the way, it was Linnet who did most of the talking.

She was very talkative, and with her around, no occasion would ever be boring.

She had been studying film and television performance in Country A, and after graduation, she returned to develop her career, as her family and friends were all in the country.

"This time I'm playing the second female lead. Although it's not the main role, I'm quite satisfied."

Edward knew a bit about the film industry, after all, Percival was in the entertainment circle.

"Did you join the crew with financial backing?"

Linnet laughed. "Not really. My brother wanted to help me, but I still wanted to rely on my own abilities. The crew doesn't know I'm from the Aguilar family. When I get to act with Percival, I'll consider myself successful."

Edward smiled faintly. "Then I wish you an early realization of your dream."

Linnet laughed out loud. "As long as it's not a daydream."

When they arrived at Red Rose Bistro, they got out of the car.

Linnet was about to take her luggage from the trunk, but Edward said, "No need, I'll take you back tonight. I have a dinner here as well."

Linnet said, "What a coincidence, thank you in advance."

Edward smiled. "You're welcome."

After entering the restaurant, they each found their own private rooms.

Edward pushed open the door to his private room, and everyone stood up. The president of Apex Ventures Corporation invited him to the main seat.

Since the York Group and Sunrise Group hadn't signed a contract, many people were eyeing this project, hoping to get a share with the York Group.

During the toasts, Edward got slightly tipsy and stepped out of the private room to go to the restroom.

When he came out to wash his hands, he saw Linnet washing her face at the sink.

Since Linnet was his friend's sister, Edward approached and asked, "Linnet, are you okay?"

Linnet leaned on the sink, looking at him. "I feel terrible."

Edward noticed her cheeks were unusually red, and her eyes were hazy. It was clear she had been drugged with an aphrodisiac.

He took out his phone to call Gavin, but Linnet snatched it and threw it into the sink.

The faucet was still running, and the phone got soaked and shut down.

Edward had patience only for Moira, not for other women.

Seeing the phone shut down, a trace of impatience and anger flashed in his eyes.

He turned off the faucet, took out the phone, shook it, and was about to say something when Linnet hugged his waist.

"I feel so terrible! Can you hug me?"

Edward tried to pull Linnet's arm away to push her out.

At that moment, a greasy man with a big belly walked over. "Linnet, I'm here. You hugged the wrong person. Come on, I'll take you away."

Edward instantly understood that this man was the one who drugged Linnet.

He looked at Duncan Mullins. "Do you know who she is?"

Duncan, also somewhat drunk, was displeased when he heard Edward. "She's my lover! Mind your own business!" He said, reaching for Linnet's arm.

Edward grabbed Duncan's wrist and twisted it upward.

The sound of bones breaking echoed, and Duncan's wrist was fractured.

His screams attracted a lot of attention.

Director Jared Cummings saw Linnet hugging a man, who turned out to be Edward, the head of the York Group.

He frowned. "Mr. York, hello, I'm Jared Cummings. What happened here?"

Edward released Duncan's hand and pushed him away forcefully. Duncan staggered backward.

If Jared hadn't caught him, Duncan would have fallen to the ground.

Duncan wanted to curse, but Jared pulled him aside and whispered, "Mr. Mullins, this is Mr. York of the York Group."

The pain and Jared's words sobered Duncan up a bit. Could it be that Linnet was Edward's lover?

He was terrified and immediately shut his mouth.

Edward pulled Linnet away, grabbing her by the collar. "Mr. Mullins, right? I'll investigate what you did to Linnet."

He looked at Jared. "Bring Linnet's coat and bag."

Jared didn't dare delay and personally went to the private room to get the items.

Edward took them and dragged Linnet back to his private room.

He stood at the door and apologized to the people inside, saying he had to leave due to an urgent matter.

Seeing Edward bring a woman back, everyone understood.

Edward dragged Linnet out of Red Rose Bistro and stuffed her into the back seat of the car.

He opened Linnet's bag and took out her phone to call Vance and Gavin.

Unfortunately, Gavin was also drunk and couldn't speak clearly.

Edward knew he couldn't rely on that idiot.

He looked at Linnet, who was starting to undress and complaining about the heat in the back seat, feeling annoyed.

He pressed his temples, got out of the car, and sat in the back seat, taking off his suit jacket and draping it over Linnet, tying the sleeves to prevent her from moving.

But this didn't stop Linnet from trying to pounce on him.

Edward pressed Linnet down on the back seat, sitting on her legs to keep her from moving.

He took out his phone and tried it, but it was still off.

It was already nine o'clock, and Moira was waiting for him to come home.

Vance arrived at 9:15, opened the car door, and saw Edward's gloomy face.

He then saw Linnet, pressed down on the back seat, crying non-stop. The scene was quite dramatic.

If he had been any later, Linnet's legs might have been broken.

Edward raised his chin. "To the hospital."

Vance took the car keys and quickly drove to the hospital.

All the way, he could feel Edward's anger.

At the hospital, Vance carried Linnet into the emergency room, with Edward following behind.

After understanding the situation, the doctor took a blood sample for testing and immediately pumped Linnet's stomach.

Linnet didn't wake up and was sent to a regular ward.

Edward walked out of the ward and borrowed Vance's phone to call Moira.

"Vance?"

"It's me." Edward's mood instantly calmed down upon hearing Moira's gentle voice. "I'll be home late, don't wait up for me."

"I've already made ginger tea."

"Okay, I'll drink it when I get back. You go to bed early."

"Alright."

After hanging up, Edward leaned against a bench, tilting his head back against the wall.

Vance brought the test results and walked up to him. "Mr. York, Ms. Aguilar was given a strong aphrodisiac. If we had come to the hospital any later, it would have caused damage to her body."

Edward opened his eyes. "Investigate everyone at Linnet's dinner tonight and find out who drugged her. Mr. Mullins is the main culprit, see if there are any accomplices. These people are too despicable."

Vance nodded. "Yes, I'll investigate right away."

Edward handed him the phone. "My phone got wet, get it fixed."

"Yes."

Since Linnet was on an IV drip, Edward went back into the ward.

A figure stood at the door of the ward, taking a picture of the scene through the small window with a phone.
