Chapter 211 Farm Reconciliation

Chapter 211 Farm Reconciliation

On the other hand, Charles sent John a message—just one sentence.

[Ecological farm in the suburbs, one hour from now. Figure out a way to bring Lily yourself.]

When John received the message, he almost jumped out of his chair with excitement!

Charles really understood him!

He immediately started thinking about how to appear in front of Lily "naturally and casually."

And how to somehow get her to "reluctantly" get in his car.

Finally, John came up with a lame excuse. He ran to wait downstairs at Lily's place early, and as soon as she came down, he pretended to run into her by chance, scratching his head and saying:

"Lily? What a coincidence!"

"You're going to that farm too? Charles insisted I come along... Since we're heading the same way, how about I give you a ride?"

Lily looked at his "I'm so innocent, I didn't plan this" expression, knowing full well what was going on. She couldn't help but roll her eyes.

But since he was already here, it would be a hassle to make other arrangements. She pulled open the car door without much enthusiasm and got in the back seat.

"Just drive, John."

"Yes, ma'am!" John happily hopped into the driver's seat, unable to stop smiling.

The two cars arrived at the farm one after the other.

The environment was really nice—blue sky, green grass, fresh air.

As soon as they got out, John sidled up to Lily, making small talk.

"Lily, look over there—strawberry greenhouse! Let's go pick strawberries first, shall we? You love them!"

Lily ignored him and quickly walked over to link arms with Olivia.

Olivia and Charles exchanged a smile, letting those two be awkward behind them.

Inside the strawberry greenhouse, bright red strawberries hid under green leaves, looking delightful.

Olivia got excited like a child, squatting down and carefully searching for the biggest, reddest ones.

Charles followed behind her, carrying a small basket, watching her focused profile with gentle eyes.

He didn't really understand these things, but seeing her happy made him feel good too.

"Charles, look! This one's huge!"

Olivia held up a large strawberry, showing it to him like a treasure, her eyes sparkling.

"Yes, very big."

Charles nodded approvingly.

"Here, eat it!"

Olivia held the strawberry up to his mouth.

Charles paused, looking at her face—a bit dirty but with a bright smile—and leaned down to take a bite from her hand.

The strawberry was very sweet, full of juice, and sweet all the way to his heart.

"Is it sweet?"

Olivia asked expectantly.

"Very."

Charles looked at her meaningfully.

Olivia's face flushed red. She lowered her head to continue looking for strawberries, but couldn't help smiling.

On the other side, the scene was quite different.

John also wanted to copy Charles. He picked what he thought was a pretty good strawberry and offered it to Lily.

"Lily, here's one for you! Definitely sweet!"

Lily glanced at it and snorted.

"Don't want it. You eat it yourself."

John got rejected, but didn't give up. He popped the strawberry in his own mouth, mumbling:

"It is pretty sweet though..."

He continued following Lily around like a shadow. When she was about to bend down, he quickly offered the basket.

When her hair was about to touch the leaves, he frantically tried to brush it aside, almost messing up Lily's hair in the process.

"John, what are you doing!"

Lily stomped her foot in frustration.

"I... I was afraid your hair would get dirty..."

John looked completely wronged.

Olivia watched them and couldn't help whispering to Charles:

"John's girl-chasing skills are consistently terrible, decade after decade."

Charles raised an eyebrow: "Terrible? I think he's quite sincere."

Olivia giggled: "True, sincerely clueless."

After picking strawberries, the four of them ate at the farm's restaurant.

The ingredients were all very fresh, produced by the farm itself.

During the meal, John finally found his opportunity.

He took a deep breath, poured himself a drink, stood up, and said very formally to Lily:

"Lily, since Olivia and Charles are here today too, I... I want to give you a proper apology!"

Lily's hand holding the utensils paused, but she didn't look up.

John continued, his tone unusually serious and remorseful:

"I was a complete jerk before! My head wasn't on straight... I was so stupid!"

"I only found out later how poisonous Katya's intentions were. She was trying to drive us apart to get at Olivia and Charles!"

"And I actually fell for it!"

He got more emotional as he spoke, his face turning red.

"Lily, I know just saying sorry isn't enough."

"But I promise you, with Katya—past, present, or future—there's nothing!"

"In my heart, from beginning to end, there's only ever been you, Lily! Before, now, and always! You can hit me or yell at me, whatever—just... just don't ignore me..."

He looked at Lily hopefully, like a dog who'd done something wrong, waiting for judgment.

Olivia and Charles quietly ate their food, pretending to blend into the background.

Lily kept her head down, silent for a long while.

Actually, her anger had mostly faded already.

Especially after learning Katya's true nature and the truth behind those misunderstandings, what she felt toward John was more disappointment than anger.

Now seeing him so clumsy yet sincere, that little knot in her heart seemed to be blown away by the farm's breeze.

She finally looked up, glared at him, but her tone had softened considerably:

"Alright, making a scene in public—aren't you embarrassed! Sit down and eat!"

John froze for a moment, then became ecstatic!

Did this mean... she forgave him?!

He quickly sat down, his face blooming with joy, constantly serving her food.

"Lily, eat this! This fish is good! These vegetables are fresh too!"

Lily looked at the mountain of food piling up in her bowl and said without much warmth:

"That's enough! Are you trying to stuff me to death!"

But this time, she didn't push the food back.

Olivia and Charles exchanged a "mission accomplished" look and secretly high-fived under the table.

After lunch, they strolled leisurely around the farm in the afternoon.

John and Lily still bickered.

But the awkwardness was clearly less, and they seemed more like they'd returned to their old state—teasing yet close.

Passing a stall selling handmade crafts, Olivia was drawn to a little rabbit made from dried flowers and woven grass. She picked it up to look at it.

Charles asked: "Like it?"

Olivia nodded: "It's cute."

Charles said nothing, just pulled out his phone and paid.

The action was as natural as buying a bottle of water.

Olivia held the inexpensive but charming little rabbit, feeling sweet inside.

She noticed Charles was becoming more and more thoughtful—he'd remember if she looked at something a moment longer, or things she mentioned casually.

Walking along, they came to a beautiful lawn with rolling hills in the distance.

The sunset painted the sky a warm orange-red.

"Should we take a photo?"

Olivia suggested.

She took out her phone, adjusting the angle, wanting to get a group photo of all four of them.

John immediately responded enthusiastically:

"Yes, yes! Let me take it!"
