Chapter 199 Emotions Heating Up

Chapter 199 Emotions Heating Up

What shocked Fox even more was that he recognized the man who drove in later—it looked like Charles!

If Charles really caught him red-handed, he'd be in huge trouble!

If Tyrell found out, he'd definitely kill him!

"This job was a total loss!"

Fox spat and cursed that mysterious caller a thousand times in his head.

He just hoped this whole thing would blow over quickly and Tyrell wouldn't find out it was him.

However, he had no idea that Charles had already set his sights on him.

And Tyrell would soon learn about everything that happened tonight.

The storm was only just beginning to brew.

Ever since that parking lot incident, Charles had been treating Olivia like a fragile porcelain doll, constantly watching over her.

The minor injury on Olivia's arm had actually healed pretty well in just a couple of days, leaving no scar.

But Charles wasn't satisfied. He insisted she rest at home for a few more days.

Studio work that could be handled online, she did online.

If she absolutely had to go in, he'd personally drive her there and watch her enter the building before he felt at ease.

Olivia would say, "You don't need to be so dramatic," but honestly, she kind of enjoyed it.

Who doesn't like being cared for and protected like this?

Charles might seem cold and quiet most of the time, but when it came to taking care of someone, he was incredibly attentive.

In the morning, Olivia was still half-asleep when she smelled something good coming from the kitchen.

She got up to look and found Charles actually wearing an apron, frying eggs.

His movements were a bit clumsy, and the edges of the eggs were slightly burnt, but he looked so serious about it.

Olivia leaned against the kitchen doorframe, watching, her heart melting completely.

"You're up? Go sit down, it'll be ready soon."

Charles turned and saw her, looking a bit self-conscious, probably thinking this look wasn't great for his image.

During breakfast, he pushed all her favorite foods toward her and tested the milk temperature before handing it to her.

Seeing her still being careful with her arm, he directly put a peeled hard-boiled egg in her bowl.

"It's not like my hand is broken."

Olivia muttered quietly, but couldn't help smiling.

Charles glanced at her and said flatly.

"I want to."

Well, with just that one sentence, Olivia had nothing to say, her heart as sweet as honey.

During the day, he worked from home, keeping his study door open, coming out every so often to check what she was doing.

"Are you thirsty?" one moment, "Are you hungry?" the next.

Then, he would pick up the blanket she'd accidentally kicked off and tuck it back around her.

Olivia didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

"Mr. Green, if you keep this up, I'm going to wonder if you've been possessed by something weird."

Charles walked over, ruffled her hair, his eyes deep.

"I'm just scared of what could have happened."

That simple sentence—Olivia understood.

He was really shaken by that parking lot incident.

She grabbed his hand and gently shook it.

"Come on, I'm fine, aren't I?"

"From now on, I'll be more careful, won't walk alone at night anymore."

Charles squeezed her hand back, didn't say anything, but the tension in his eyes finally eased a bit.

That weekend, Charles said he'd take her back to the Green Villa for dinner.

Olivia hesitated a bit. After all, with all the breaking up and getting back together with Charles, things were pretty awkward with the Green family elders.

"What's there to be afraid of?"

Charles pinched her cheek.

"My dad asked me a few days after getting out of the hospital when I'd bring you home for dinner again."

"He said... the daughter-in-law he's set on, it's only you."

Olivia's heart stirred, looking up at him.

Charles's eyes were very serious.

"Olivia, let's be together properly and never break up again, okay?"

Olivia nodded hard, her nose tingling: "Okay."

At the Green Villa, the atmosphere was much better than Olivia had imagined.

When Bodhi saw her, his face lit up with a smile, and he greeted her directly.

"Olivia's here, come on in and sit. Was there traffic on the way?"

That tone was just like welcoming his own child.

What surprised her even more was that Wilder was there too!

"Olivia."

Charles glared at him, and Wilder immediately shrank his neck, but still had a smile at the corners of his mouth.

During dinner, the atmosphere was even more harmonious.

Bodhi kept putting food in Olivia's bowl, saying things like.

"Eat more, you've gotten thinner lately."

"No matter how busy work is, you need to take care of your health, or Charles will worry."

Charles responded calmly beside her, smoothly placing a piece of deboned fish in Olivia's bowl.

Wilder watched and clicked his tongue.

"Charles, how come I never noticed you were so good at taking care of people?"

Charles shot him a look.

"Eat your food."

Wilder immediately buried his head in his meal, but his shoulders were still shaking with suppressed laughter.

Olivia was amused by their interaction and felt warm inside.

After dinner, they sat in the living room drinking tea and chatting.

Bodhi looked at Charles and Olivia sitting side by side, more and more satisfied, and suddenly suggested,

"Come on, let's take a photo! We haven't taken a family portrait in so long!"

He pulled out his phone and called Wilder over.

Wilder bounced over happily, standing on Charles's other side, deliberately making a goofy gesture.

Bodhi held up his phone. Charles naturally put his arm around Olivia's shoulder, pulling her closer to him.

Olivia felt a bit embarrassed but still cooperated with a smile.

The photo was taken.

Bodhi looked at it, extremely satisfied.

"Good, good, good! This one came out great! I'm posting it!"

He talked while his fingers flew across the screen, deliberately choosing the photo of Charles with his arm around Olivia, the two looking at each other and smiling, as the cover image.

Within minutes, Olivia's phone was buzzing nonstop.

She pulled it out to look—likes and comments from mutual friends were flooding in.

The comments were all the same:

【Charles and Olivia look so good together!】

Olivia looked at these comments, her face heating up.

Charles leaned over to look, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly, clearly in an excellent mood.

What surprised Olivia even more was that a couple of days later, she accompanied Charles to an informal business reception.

There were a few girls who looked like they'd just graduated from college—probably daughters of some families—gathered around Wilder, talking, but their eyes kept glancing toward Charles.

One of the bolder ones walked over with a wine glass. Instead of approaching Charles directly, she turned to Olivia with a sweet smile and called out crisply.

"Hello, Mrs. Green!"

Olivia was holding a glass of juice at the time and nearly dropped it.

Her face turned red immediately, not knowing what to do with her hands and feet.

Charles stood beside her, a hint of amusement flashing in his eyes. He put his hand on her waist and nodded slightly at the girl, essentially confirming it.
