Chapter 17 Velatrium

Chapter 17 Velatrium
Maelis Ardent POV

I smiled and raised my eyebrow, “Well, my dad is one hell of a spy too.” I said, and he just nodded.

“It was true, unlike the La Vida, Travos, and Arcana’s Velatrium doesn’t inflict actual physical pain.” He explained, “But Lucein, he…he had it worst.” He said

For some reason, I felt a sting inside my heart, like someone just stabbed me.

“They say that they locked them inside a room where not even a single sound could be made, my father said that he saw a person once who was able to survive that room. But when he got out, he was never the same. There is no injury, but he said that he saw him experience so much pain, but not physically.” I said as I looked at the only picture frame on the shelf.

“Everyone who enters that place could only pray that they can die already, but Velatrium knows that there is no greater pain than someone who betrays the can experience other than that.” Terron said, “That is Lucien’s mother,” he said when he saw me staring at the picture of a woman.

“She's beautiful,” I said.

“She is,” He added. “We should go down, your food is ready.” He said and stood up.

“I’ll follow along,” I said and smiled as he nodded and left the room.

As soon as the door closed quickly, I made my way to Lucien’s table and opened all his drawers. I can’t leave empty-handed. I need to find something.

“Shit,” I exclaimed as I read the paper in my hand. This is all the contact information of Velatrium’s underground client. This is where they also get their source of weapons.

I quickly wrote down each of the important names I needed, and when I frowned and saw a familiar name.

“Lorenzo R.” I read out loud.

Is this Lorenzo from the Arcana? Why would his name be on the List of Velatrium that is under Lucien’s father's name? I quickly hid the paper and went out of the room when I heard the sound of footsteps coming.

“Ready to eat?” Terron asked, smiling, and I nodded.

“Yes,”

Third Person POV

“I heard what happen your place,” Lucien's father said as he sat on the podium of their dining table. “Who would have the guts to do that?” he said as he chewed his food.

“Don’t worry about it,” Lucien said as she drank his coffee.

“I hope you added more security, you know, we don’t know what people have on their sleeves nowadays,” Asha said, but Lucien acted as if he didn’t hear him.

“If you don’t, you're no better. I would think you’re losing your grip, Lucien,” Hi father said that made him clench his fist. “You know what we do to people like that, right? You won’t like to go through that again.” He said mockingly, Lucien lifted his face and faked a smile to his father.

“Don’t worry too much, father. You should worry more about the deal you made with the Galvos.” He said, and Basil handed him a folder of paper that he placed near his father. “Because of that deal, the Velatrium is about lose its hold on the east. What is your great plan about that?” He asks.

Lucien couldn’t help but smirk as he watched his father’s face twitch in anger that is trying to hide.

“You dearest council already made a call to me telling me their concern,” He added as he took a sip of his coffee. “But don’t worry, I told them you had it under control. And I am right, right?”

Davos looked at him and nodded confidently. “Of course, this is a piece of cake, don’t tell me this bothers you. You really are still a child then,”  He laughs.

Lucien chuckled that made his father stop. “No, of course not. Why would it? I’m not the one who caused that problem.” He said and stood up, “Anyway, enjoy your breakfast. I’ll see you again on another one. I like this breakfast together, it’s fun. He said as he walked away with a smile.

Lucien knows his father, and he is so sure right now that his father is fuming mad inside and he’s just seconds away from exploding. But he’s not up for any drama from him right now. There are a lot more important matters to attend to.

“Everything has already been arrange his, we’re ready,” Basil said as she opened the car door for Lucien.

“Let’s get this one then, I need to go home early today,” Lucien said, and Basil hid his smile because he knew what he meant.

As Basil and Lucien entered the room, the people inside all quickly stood up, and a man greeted them.

“Mr. Allard, I’m glad to finally meet you.  Allan Heid,e” A man said to Lucien and offered his hand that Lucien accepted.

“Did you bring everything we asked?” Lucien as they both sat.

“Yes, here is everything is ready for you. But how about the things we ask?” The man ask and Lucien smiled.

“Of course, we even brought you some freebies,” Lucien said, and the man laughed.

“Oh, you shouldn’t have. You’re too generous, and they say you’re rude and ruthless.” Heide said and looked at Lucien and Basil.

“So, where is it?” The man asks, and Lucien just signals Basil to place the case on the table. “Well, I shall open it to thank you.” The man said and eagerly opened the briefcase.

Heide's face turned pale as soon as he saw a pile of printed pictures inside the suitcase. It was all familiar faces. They are his men, but all of them are beaten up, and in some pictures, they are placed inside a container.

Heide swallowed and lifted his gaze at Lucien, who was just staring at him, but this gaze was enough to send chills down his spine.

“Don’t they look familiar?” Lucien said, making Heide swallow again.

“What is this? Why did you do this?” Heide asks as he throws the picture back inside and clenches his shaking fist.

“I’m just teaching thema lesson, you know, I think you men forgot how to recognize who they are trying to go against, like you,” Lucien said as he leaned towards the Table and look Heide. “You dare to send me a bomb and people to kill me? You think you’re too smart, Heide,” He said and grabbed the man’s collar.

All of Lucien’s guards pulled out guns and point it to Heide, “I don’t know what you're talking about!” Heide shouted, and Lucien laughed.

“Doesn’t this man work under you?” Lucien stood up, and the guards were watching each other's steps. Lucien walked towards Heide’s side and sat at the table as he looked down on him. “You know what I hate the most? When someone is trying to take something from me, especially if it’s my person. You nearly killed someone important to me. What do you think I should do to you then?”
