Chapter 98 Lucifiel's POV
Chapter 98 Lucifiel's POV
I knew Aldric wasn't completely honest when he said Levi was with him.
I felt it when he was close by, but I refused to believe it. Because he was angry at me so he wouldn't be looking for me. Levi chose Adrian, but I wasn't worried because he said that out of anger, Adrian has nothing on me. But Levi coming to a dangerous territory for me, when I haven't been gone for upto 24hours was the unbelievable part until I saw him and Rahul.
Then the piece of shit that was following Aldric around like a fly threatened my little chaos. At some point while I was talking to Aldric, he punched me for not cooperating with his master or whatever they were to each other. He could do whatever he wants with me but touching what's mine was where he missed a step.
I didn't realise I had removed the so-called unbreakable chain from the wall.
“You touched what belongs to me.” My voice sounded a bit foreign even to my hearing.
The words echoed through the chamber, cold and absolute. Then silence followed. The vampire standing beside Levi froze, his hand still wrapped around Levi’s arm and his fangs were out. All I could see was red. Pure, blinding rage.
Nobody touches my little chaos!
The broken chain hung from my wrist. The second chain remained attached, it stretched as I stepped forward. Nobody moved. Not even Aldric, Rahul , the guards or Derek who just stepped in. For a moment, the entire room seemed trapped between one heartbeat and the next.
Then the vampire holding Levi smiled. The idiot actually smiled.
“I didn’t know he was yours.”
The sound that left my throat wasn’t human. The room shook. Before anyone could blink , I moved.
The distance between us disappeared. One second I was across the chamber and next my hand was around his throat. The impact shattered stone behind him as his body hit the wall hard enough to send cracks spidering through the ancient structure. His eyes widened. For the first time, fear appeared on it.
Well, he deserved it.
I tightened my grip. His bones cracked and his hands clawed uselessly at my wrist.
“Lucifiel!”
Someone shouted. I ignored it.
The vampire wheezed. I slammed him into the wall again and again continuously. Stone exploded, filling the air with dust. The room trembled beneath us.
"Don't. You. Ever. Touch. Him.” I slammed him against the wall with every word I said.
Then I slammed him against the wall harder one more time. More bones broke. The sound brought absolutely no satisfaction, because he was still alive and Levi was still looking frightened. The scent of Levi’s blood filled the room, sharp and metallic, and my control vanished completely. He had grazed his skin with his hand.
For centuries I had perfected restraint, which was ruined by Levi. This was different, someone had touched Levi and hurt him, nothing else mattered.
I could hear the vampire's heart racing now. Panic, terror and desperation are all appropriate reactions. I raised my free hand. The intention was simply to rip his head off and end him.
“Lucifiel!” The sound of Levi's voice made everything stop.
My hand froze, while the room went silent again. I turned slowly.
Levi stood several feet away. His expression was complicated. There was concern, fear, frustration, and something else written all over his face. Something that made the monster inside me retreat. But I turned and snapped the vampire's neck.
I wanted to remove his head, but snapping it was the least I could do to help him realise not to mess with him.
“Lucifiel,” Levi repeated softly now.
The fury still burned, but it no longer consumed me. I released the vampire then his body collapsed immediately to the ground. He was not dead, more like he fell into a temporary coma.
Even Aldric looked disturbed when I turned to look at him.
It took me a moment to understand why. Then I realized it, the biggest shock wasn't the chains I pulled, They were shocked that Levi had stopped me.
Aldric’s gaze shifted between us, I disliked it immediately. Very few people understood what they had just witnessed. Aldric was one of them. Levi wasn’t merely important to me. He had become my weakness. And now everyone in this space knows it too.
I walked toward him. Nobody dared stop me—not after what they’d just seen. Levi remained still. His breathing was uneven. His arm trembled slightly. The idiot had touched him. That alone was enough reason for Levi to look shaken. The wound wasn’t serious, but I was sure every vampire around could smell his blood and that it smelled very different from every other human. The good thing was the scratch was almost completely healed.
I reached for him.
He immediately stepped back. For a moment I had thought he was no longer pissed at me, but it seems he still was. He'll get over it. But his movement made my stomach twist. For a brief moment I forgot about everyone else in the space, including the fact that they had actually come to rescue me. There was only Levi, and the distance he kept putting between us.
My jaw tightened. “You’re hurt.”
“I’m fine. It’s barely a scratch and it will heal.”
I looked at the wound, then back at him. “It isn’t.”
But before I could move towards him Derek appeared beside Levi in a protective way. I narrowed my eyes. Derek ignored me. It was either bravery or stupidity, or possibly both.
“You look good in chains..” he said but I ignored it. I just stared at both of them.
“You know what? Never mind.”
Smart decision.
Rahul walked over. His gaze moved across my wrists, the broken chains, the room, the injured vampire, then finally me.
“You could have waited thirty seconds.”
“I didn’t want to.”
He sighed. “Obviously.”
Aldric stood, dusting imaginary dirt from his coat. The man looked annoyingly calm considering his dungeon was currently being destroyed.
“I assume this concludes our discussion.”
I laughed,“You know this was supposed to be your murder scene for what you did.”
"Am I supposed to get scared?" Aldric asked, though the tension in his posture betrayed him.
He knew he couldn't go up against me even if he tried, but I was going to let him be while I focused on how to get Gareth.
Aldric folded his hands behind his back. “We both know I never intended to keep you permanently."
“You kidnapped me.”
“I detained you temporarily, it was a way of bringing both of you together.”
I stared at him and he did the same to me. Neither of us blinked, it was more like a stare down competition.
Finally Derek spoke. “What is wrong with rich supernatural people?” Nobody answered.
Aldric turned toward Levi. For the first time. He nodded once, then looked at me. “Your possessiveness is becoming a problem.”
“He isn’t your concern.” I considered throwing him through a wall. The temptation was really strong.
Before I could decide, footsteps echoed from the corridor. Several vampires entered—armed, alert, ready for violence. They stopped when they saw me standing freely. Their confidence vanished immediately. One even took a step backward.
The rumors apparently remained accurate. Aldric pinched the bridge of his nose. “Everyone relax.”
One of the newcomers looked at the unconscious vampire on the floor and fear flashed across his eyes.
Aldric sighed. Then his expression changed
“What?”
He looked at me, then at Levi and Rahul. “You’re all focusing on the wrong problem.”
“What problem should we be focusing on?”
Aldric’s gaze hardened. “The fact that others know about him.”
The temperature seemed to drop. Nobody spoke.
Levi frowned. “What does that mean?”
Aldric looked directly at him. “It means the secret is gone.”
My entire body went still.
Aldric continued. “Voss wasn’t the only person researching his blood.”
Levi’s face paled slightly. “How many people know?”
Aldric didn’t answer immediately. Which meant far too many are aware. Rahul swore softly.
I already knew what this meant. War.
Aldric continued. “There are factions who believe your blood could change the balance of power permanently. And from the smell of your blood, it truly is special.”
Levi stared. “I didn’t ask for that.”
“No.”
“Then why can’t everyone leave me alone?”
Nobody had an answer. Because the supernatural world had never cared what people wanted. Only what they represented. And Levi represented something dangerous, valuable and worth killing for.
"What exactly do you gain from all of this if you're not after his blood?" I asked .
Aldric looked at me. “Just having both of you by my side would go a long way. But the others won’t stop.”
“I know.”
His expression darkened. “Then you should know to prepare for what's coming.”
Overnight one little human changed my entire focus, and I have to pay the price for that.
Levi rubbed a hand across his face. He suddenly looked exhausted. Which was understandable. We were having a good time before Seraphine ruined it by blurting out about the prophecy which he happened to hear about.
My gaze drifted toward him again—his arm was completely healed. But the blood stain was still there. I wanted to fix all his problems. Unfortunately, I had absolutely no idea how because I can't change his blood.
Derek suddenly stepped between us again putting a clear distance between us. I narrowed my eyes. He remained completely unbothered. He was enjoying his brother's privileges of being related to Levi.
Levi looked like he wanted to laugh. Then Rahul’s phone rang.
Rahul answered immediately. “Talk.”
His expression changed. Fast. Every protective instinct I possessed activated instantly.
“What happened?”
Rahul didn’t answer. He was listening. And I wasn't wasting any energy trying to listen to the person on the other end. The longer he listened, the worse his expression became. Finally he lowered the phone.
“What happened?” I repeated.
Rahul looked at me,His voice came out tight. “One of our safe houses was attacked.”
“Any casualties?”
Rahul swallowed. “All of them.”
The room froze.
Aldric’s face hardened immediately. “Who?” I still don't trust Aldric, but he was the enemy I knew.
“We don’t know. But one feral was caught on camera. There were no survivors.”
Derek muttered something under his breath. It was definitely an inside job too. We need to find Gareth
Rahul took out his phone. “There was something else.”
“What?”
He turned the screen around, showing everyone the photograph. The room fell silent.
The wall of the safe house was covered in blood. The symbol was different from the previous ones on the picture we saw before but I could tell they were both done by the same person. The symbol was an 'L' in the middle of a 'C'
I turned to ask Aldric if he knew about it but his expression already gave him away. And before I could speak he said,
" Impossible. He is supposed to be dead. "
