Chapter 208 The Balloon Shooting Contest
Nicole felt annoyed and a bit scared, so she randomly chose a stall with a lot of people and squeezed in.
Upon entering, she realized it was a shooting game booth. Just as she stood there, a crowd of people emerged behind her, creating a wide gap between her and the man following her.
Freed from the oppressive gaze, Nicole felt much more comfortable. She knew Robert was probably still outside and planned to go out later. Meanwhile, she played with her phone, following the queue forward.
Originally, she intended to pass the time here, but the line moved quickly, and soon it was her turn.
Nicole was never good at these games. When she held the gun, she didn't even know how to aim, let alone how to shoot.
Several boys came closer from behind, kindly offering to teach her. Nicole was about to give up and hand over the gun when a bony hand suddenly grabbed the grip back.
"I'll help you."
The man had somehow appeared by her side without anyone noticing. He extended his arm and took the air gun from her without hesitation.
Not only Nicole was surprised, but even the people around them were astonished.
Who would wear such high-end attire and walk around a school carnival, especially holding an air gun, so inappropriately?
But when their gazes met Robert's face, no one could help but fall silent.
Not only was he good-looking, but there was also an air of disdain for all living beings on his face, indicating that he came from a distinguished background and was not someone to be trifled with.
The crowd automatically made way, and the boys who wanted to help hurriedly walked away, feeling dejected.
"Which one do you want?"
Despite the commotion he caused, Robert seemed oblivious to it all. He only lowered his gaze and looked at the girl in front of him, his voice clear and warm.
Nicole stared at him for a while, then raised her hand and casually pointed at the pair of plain silver rings hanging at the top.
Following her pointing direction, the man saw the rings and raised an eyebrow. There seemed to be a flicker of something unusual in his pupils.
He didn't say anything, but silently turned around, raised the air gun in his hand, and without much aiming process, pressed the trigger directly.
The sound of consecutive balloon explosions resounded from the opposite side.
"Pop, pop, pop..."
The rows of balloons were popping in succession, and Robert's accuracy was unparalleled. In just a few shots, he completely burst the balloons several meters away.
The crowd watching erupted in amazement, but he calmly put down his gun and accepted the pair of plain silver rings handed to him by the boss.
Nicole was not surprised by Robert's skills. Although she didn't have much contact with him, she knew that he excelled in everything he did, whether it was academics, sports, horseback riding, or shooting.
There was nothing that Robert wasn't proficient in, except for maybe eating and sleeping. He seemed almost like an emotionless, high-intelligence robot.
When she emerged from the crowd, Nicole turned to look at him and politely said, "Robert, I really am staying at school tonight. You can go home."
Robert's expression remained indifferent, neither speaking nor making any other movements. He just lowered his gaze, fixed on her.
In the depths of his cold eyes, there seemed to be a deeply repressed yet extremely intense emotion. Every time he looked at her with that kind of gaze, Nicole couldn't help but feel afraid.
"Robert, I'll leave first..." She nervously said, wanting to run away, but her wrist was held tightly by the man. With a little force, he pulled her back.
Nicole looked up at him in astonishment.
Robert stared at her and slowly extended his hand in front of her.
His slender, fair hand lay open before her, and in the clear lines of his palm rested two plain silver rings.
One large and one small, ordinary in design and made of cheap material, they were obviously a pair of couple's rings recently won in a game.
Nicole's expression froze for a moment, lost in thought, before finally picking up the women's ring and clenching it in her hand.
"Thank you," she thanked him.
Actually, Nicole had just randomly pointed at the most difficult item, not truly intending to have those rings. But since he had helped her win them, she wouldn't openly reject him.
"This..."
Robert gazed at the ring in his palm, tentatively asking, "Should I take it back to Richard for you?"
"No." Nicole immediately refused.
She had just argued with Richard and didn't want to give him anything, especially not a ring.
Nicole was well aware that Richard would never be interested in such cheap trinkets, let alone accept them.
"He won't want it. You can keep it, or throw it away."
With lowered eyelashes, she held the ring in her hand and softly said, "I just want this one."
