Chapter 111 Chapter 111
Chapter 111 Chapter 111
He was looking at her in disbelief and even betrayal. "You killed the man, Daisy?"
She shook her head, but the expression in his eyes didn't change.
"Damn girl. It's only been two weeks. Others usually have their true identities revealed years later." With that, he turned away and continued to wipe the glasses.
"W-wait, Carl, I-”
"Shut up, whore!" In a split second, Jamie's hand was at her throat, and he was squeezing hard. "You fucking-he was an old man! How dare you?!"
"I-I-"
"You're hurting her, Jamie!"
Daisy's blurred vision noticed a woman running up to them and removing the man's hand from her neck.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Mandi cried.
"She deserves to die!” Jamie said.
In that moment, Carl was really glad that aspect of the bar was relatively soundproof.
"Let the cops handle it!"
As the couple yelled at each other, Daisy saw that Klaus was still there, looking at her.
"Wh-you're still here?"
“She called 911 already,” Klaus said, his arms folded as he rested on the nearby wall. “They'll be here anytime soon."
Her heart pounded in fear. "I didn't kill him!"
"That guy doesn't seem to believe that," he replied. "Now, if I spoke to him...”
Despite his deadpan look, she could hear the smugness in his tone. But she had no other choice.
"Help me. Please."
Klaus raised a brow. "Just like that? There's nothing I'd get in return?"
He wanted her on his 'Kill Aiden' train.
Daisy stared at him, the ache in her neck subsiding. If she joined him, she was throwing herself back into the hell that was the life with werewolves and lycans. She was accepting the devil's hand.
Okay, maybe not the devil. That was Aiden.
A demon, then.
His eyes were bright, waiting for an answer. "I can hear the sound of an approaching car," he taunted in a sing- song voice.
"F-fine. I'll join you."
He blinked at her, then grinned. "You got yourself a deal."
Jamie and Mandi were still arguing when Klaus approached them.
“...and to think you said your eyes were closed-”
“Is that really the point here?!" Mandi was saying when he stood before them.
Jamie was about to respond when he noticed the other male. "You! You're with that witch, aren't you?! Just you wait! The cops are on their way-"
“Alright, hold up," Klaus said, his voice commanding but not loud. "Let's have a talk, shall we?"
"Talk? Please. You're just going to try and beg me to let her go!"
"How do you know she even did it, hm? There's no proof."
"She was at his store, the night before he died," Mandi spoke, and Klaus turned to look at her.
'Oh, my,' she thought. 'He's even more handsome in person.'
"I see," he said to her. "However, that isn't enough reason to call her a murderer."
"She's a suspect, then!” Jamie spat. “And she'd have to be taken to the station-"
"Sir," Klaus interrupted, placing a hand on the other man's shoulder. "How about a word outside?"
His voice was now cold, and Jamie felt a shiver run down his spine.
"N-no matter what you say, I'm not changing my mind!” Jamie yelled after he'd been led him out of the bar to a darker aspect of the street.
"Really now?" was all Klaus said, before his eyes turned golden and his fingers turned into claws.
Jamie let out a sound of shock and scrambled backward as Klaus approached him.
"L-let me go! I'm sorry!”
“Listen to me, scum,” the werewolf said with a guttural voice, “You'd do well to avoid that woman. She's innocent, you hear me? And even if she was involved, don't you dare harass her or get cops against her. Got that?"
Jamie nodded fearfully. "Y-yes sir! Please, don't kill me!"
Klaus transformed back to his normal human form. "There's no need to kill you. But don't try any funny business, else I'd find you, and I swear by the moon goddess, I'll feed you your eyeballs."
Mandi was back to her seat, trying to avoid locking eyes with the young woman, who was trying to convince the bartender of her innocence.
“I promise you, I'm innocent, Carl," she was saying when Jamie shuffled inside.
“M-Mandi, come on, let's go,” he said, and she looked at him in confusion.
“Jamie, is everything alright–”
"Everything's fine,” he mumbled. “Also, call 911 again. There's no need to arrest anyone. She's innocent."
She looked at her lover like he was mad. "What? Jamie-"
"Let's go, Mandi!" With that, he snatched her hand and pulled her out of the VIP section.
Daisy looked away from Carl at Klaus who'd just stepped in, his face deadpan still.
"What...what did you do?”
"Nothing.” He turned to the bartender. “She's innocent. Also, she's resigning."
“I-" Daisy stopped when she saw the warning look in Klaus' eyes. “I'm quitting, Carl.”
Aiden's POV:::
"Doctor says I'll have to get a prosthetic.”
I looked up from the paperwork I was going through. "I see. When is that supposed to happen?"
Leon grunted. "I don't know, and quite frankly, I don't care. I'd have ripped that man apart if you hadn't already done so, Alpha."
"...right.”
Something had been weighing on my mind for the few weeks since I killed Kieran without a second thought. That day, his brother had said something extremely odd, and it was now embedded in my mind.
'He believed in you.'
"What the fuck was that about?" I thought to myself, irritated by the fact that I was getting disturbed over what some fool who didn't understand what respect was had said to me.
"What the fuck was what about, Alpha?"
I'd spoken out loud. I glanced at my Beta and shook my head, not wanting him to know. There had to be other
ways to deal with this.
"I need you to do something for me."
Leon nodded, his eyes alert. "Yes, Alpha.”
"I need you to get someone else who can momentarily take your place as Beta. For a few weeks till you're fine
again."
The alertness in his eyes dimmed. "What?"
"You heard me."
"What the- what the hell? You want to replace me?"
I glared at him. "Don't be stupid. You're injured and there's a lot of work to do. Since Wikh...left, I haven't installed anyone in the position of Gamma. And now, you're injured, so there's no one to be the acting Beta."
He frowned. "That's no excuse for your replacing me."
“Don't be fucking ridiculous.” I was pretty sure my eyes were shining with anger. “If I want to replace you, then you'd step down like the fucking subordinate you are. Do you understand that?”
He was silent for a moment, then nodded. “Yes, Alpha.”
"Good. Now get the fuck out of my face."
When the door closed behind him, I dropped my pen and heaved a sigh.
Reports I received earlier showed that Kieran's rogue group was now without a leader, and it was only a matter of time before they acted like the true rogues they were- attacking packs without abandon. Klaus, his brother, was nowhere to be found, so the people were getting antsy.
Daisy was still missing, Leon was beaten up very badly and had lost an arm, Aaren was nowhere to be found, and I'd killed Kieran.
It was all getting out of hand. And the worst part was I had almost no idea what to do.
