Chapter 93
Conner paused for a moment and asked, “Mr. Cole, have we met somewhere before?”
Sebastian gave a faint smile. “Maybe. I’m not sure. Why do you ask?”
Realizing he had focused on the wrong thing, Conner quickly steered the conversation back to the project. “Novara is clearly more suitable for this project than Aurora, everyone knows that. Why would the decision suddenly change?”
Sebastian looked at the oil painting before him, and he couldn’t help but admit to himself that Noelle’s artistic talent truly lived up to her top–ranking admission to the Norland Academy of
Fine Arts.
Clusters of white gardenias bloomed brilliantly against the pitch–black night. For the first time, he found himself using the word “brilliant” to describe white gardenias.
He raised an eyebrow and muttered under his breath, “Why would she fall for a guy like that?”
On the other end of the line, Conner was taken aback. “Mr. Cole, what did you just say? Sorry, I didn’t catch that.”
Sebastian shifted his gaze away from the painting and lounged on the couch. “Novara is more suitable than Aurora? I don’t think so.”
Conner jumped in quickly. “Novara really is a better fit than Aurora. Mr. Cole, if you don’t think so, we can put together a full side–by–side comparison-”
Conner had much more to say, but Sebastian clearly wasn’t interested in hearing it. He instantly cut him off. “I only work with respectable people, not with those who act like scum. At least Aurora’s CEO still counts as a decent person.”
Holding Aston’s phone, Conner stood speechless for at least ten seconds.
It was obvious Sebastian had no intention of waiting for his response. For people like Conner, he rarely waited for them to speak at all.
He spoke again. “My assistant tells me you want to’cause trouble in the Cole Group, is that right? If you are bold enough, go ahead and find out for yourself how we deal with people like you.”
In his mind, people like Conner only had the nerve to bully defenseless women like the Spencers. At the Cole Group, there were more than enough people who could put him in his place.
Aston looked at the shifting emotions playing across Conner’s face, and it was truly a spectacle. That was far more entertaining than the priceless oil painting hanging in Sebastian’s bedroom.

“Mr. Ashford, how much longer do you plan on holding my phone?” he asked.
The screen had already gone dark, so Sebastian had definitely hung up. Yet Conner still held the phone to his ear, making Aston wonder what Sebastian had said to keep him frozen like
that.
Conner handed the phone back to Aston in a daze, unable to figure out why Sebastian would make such a judgement about him. At this point, he could only turn to Aston for help.
He shifted from his arrogant and stubborn demeanor to a humble one. He asked, “Is there any misunderstanding between Mr. Cole and me?”
Aston put his phone away, deliberately wiping it with a tissue, and smiled faintly. “I’m just an assistant. Asking me won’t get you anywhere. I cannot give you any answers. If you still want to cause trouble, please go ahead.”
Conner glanced at the heavy security outside the reception room. There was no way he would dare make a scene here.
