Aside from the shock, Nicholas felt a twinge of worry. If this ever came to light, the Harper family’s good days would be over. They couldn’t risk exposing it themselves, but they also had to watch Noelle closely.
Nicholas was just about to light a cigarette when Sabrina cut him off sharply. “What, are you afraid I’m
getting too cozy with the Ashfords?”
That was when he realized and quickly stubbed it out. “I’m so sorry. I got nervous and forgot you’re
pregnant. I’ll skip it.”
Once the cigarette was out, Nicholas calmed down. “You’re right, Sab. We can’t afford to act rashly right now. We’ll just have to play it by ear. And whatever you do, don’t let the Ashfords find out you already
know their secret.”
When Sabrina had overheard it last night, her mind had been a mess. Thankfully, she had pulled herself
together fast.
Nicholas instructed, “Also, for now, just focus on getting closer to Conner. Get him hooked on you, make
him feel like he can’t live without you.
“Sure, Noelle’s pretty, but you’re no less than her. As for Noelle, I’ll have someone keeping tabs. If she tries to get near Conner again, I’ll make sure she regrets it.”
With Nicholas‘ reassurance, Sabrina’s mood lifted a little.
She had made up her mind. Whether it was Conner or Caleb, as long as he could keep her living the way
she’s used to or better, she didn’t care which one it was.
Morally, she didn’t feel the slightest bit guilty. After all, it wasn’t her fault that Noelle couldn’t conceive She had no one to blame but herself for not being able to have a baby.
In fact, Sabrina even felt a small flicker of relief. Thank God Noelle was infertile. Because if she were, Sabrina would’ve been the one losing her husband and getting kicked out of the Ashford family.
Sabrina’s eyes narrowed as she stared at the photo on her phone, like she had just made up her mind. Nic, you’ve got connections Call them Teach Noelle a lesson. Make sure she thinks twice before pulling
something like this again”
Nicholas lowered his head and looked at the photo as he said, ‘Exactly She’s way too full of herself right now if we don’t put her in her place, she might actually think she can claw her way back to the Ashford family”
At that moment, the Ashfords only have Sabrina Anyone who tried to take her place was the biggest threat to the Harpers
Nicholas immediately made a few calls to set things in motion Once everything was arranged, he gave Sabrina a placating smile “Sat. Im really strapped for cash lately You’re pregnant now, so your mother–in-

law must’ve given you plenty of money, right?”
2/2
Sabrina had long since grown numb to Nicholas asking for money. However, keeping him around hadn’t been for nothing–when she needed him, he could prove useful.
Sabrina transferred some money to him, but Nicholas wasn’t satisfied. “Only 200 thousand?”
She shot him a look. “There’s a transfer limit. That’s all I could send today. And I’ve been giving you plenty.
as it is, so use it wisely. Don’t think my money comes easy. You know, Yasmine is never generous with
Nicholas‘ smile came right back. “Don’t worry, Sab. Just hang in there a little longer. That old hag has
already lost one son. Your husband is her only son left. Once she steps down, all of the Novara
Corporation’s money will belong to us.
That thought drew a smile to Sabrina’s face. Nicholas was right, but she still had her concerns.
She said, “Nic, I can’t keep handing you money like this. The Novara Corporation is doing great right now, so you need to figure out a way to pull some money from Novara yourself.”
She knew that she couldn’t keep going to Conner for money forever. But if Nicholas launched some kind of project, she could reasonably ask Conner for resources to help.
Nicholas waved her off as he said, “Yeah, I’m on it. I’m already talking it over with a few friends. Stop worrying about me. You should worry about how to make Conner–oh, wait, Caleb–completely hooked on you. Men are easy if you know how to play them.”
