Noelle even remembered Conner joking about it at that time. Is this all the daughter of a political bigwig is bringing to the wedding?”
They had known each other for years, so she hadn’t thought much of it. She simply assumed that he was just joking about it. Besides, she wasn’t the daughter of any political bigwig
But because of what the Spencers had contributed to the wedding, Yasmine had found plenty of chances
to mock Noelle, sometimes subtly and sometimes openly.
She even said that the Spencers might look impressive on the outside, but it was all for show.
Noelle had felt hurt back then. Neither she nor her family had ever pretended to be richer than they were.
Patrick was a man of integrity, and the Spencers lived a modest, comfortable life.
Conner had picked up on her mood at the time and kept trying to comfort her. Back then, she had been
naive enough to believe that Yasmine was blunt but kind deep down.
She knew better now, realizing that someone who truly cared about her would never do or say anything
that would hurt her.
Mary stared at the long, item–packed list of wedding gifts. Just reading it was overwhelming. On top of
that, more and more people kept coming in, nearly filling the living room at the Spencer residence.
Noelle couldn’t take it anymore. If this kept up, there wouldn’t be an inch of space left in the room to
stand in.
She rushed to the doorway and blocked it.Then, she looked at Barratt and said, “That’s enough! Really, it
Barrett glanced from the list to the piles of gifts filling up the living room. “Ms. Spencer, no need to worry.
It will all fit.”
After all, Sebastian planned everything down to the smallest detail. There was no way he would send
more than the Spencer residence could hold.
Still, Noelle felt both anxious and helpless. She knew that wedding gifts like these were impossible for her
family to match.
Mary was just as tense. She tugged at Noelle’s sleeve and asked softly, “Noelle, should we give Sebastian
@ call?
Noelle nodded in response. “We should.”
But as soon as she agreed, she hit a snag. She didn’t even have Sebastian’s contact.
A faint blush crept into her cheeks at the thought. How had she managed to be intimate with him and still
not have his number?
Chapter 62
When Noelle stayed frozen in place, Mary asked, “Are you too shy to call him? No worries. I can call Sebastian’s family for you.”
Noelle caught Mary’s arm and stammered, “Mom… I don’t have Sebastian’s number.”
Mary couldn’t help but laugh. “You silly girl. How did you so carelessly forget to get his contact info? Never mind, I’ll call his family. Do you want to do the talking, or should I?”
As she spoke, Mary was already pulling out her phone to make the call.
“Mom, I’ll handle it.” Noelle quickly took the phone from her. She wasn’t about to have Mary say they couldn’t match the Cole family’s generosity.
The call connected, and Noelle recognized the voice immediately. She spoke softly. “Hello, Lydia. Could you get Mr. Sebastian for me, please?”
About ten seconds later, which was a little quicker than Noelle had expected, Sebastian’s deep voice came through. “Hey, Noelle. You don’t have my number, do you?”
Before she could answer, he rattled off a string of digits. Noelle felt a little embarrassed at how quickly he had figured her out.
Before she could think of something to ease the awkwardness, Sebastian changed his mind. “Forget it. You don’t have to save my number. I have yours. I’ll just give you a call.”
