Chapter 170
Healing
Alex’s POV
Warmth.
For the first time in weeks, I woke up feeling warm.
No cold, or sweat clinging to my skin like a second cloth. No racing heart.
No echoes of the different nightmares, especially the nightmare of the man in my dream trying to do some things to me.
All of it was gone. Just… peace.I blinked rapidly, my vision trying to adjust to the bright light of the sunlight coming through the curtains. The room smelled clean, like fresh linen and something faintly familiar, something safe.
The aroma was so pleasing that I had to continuously take deep breaths. It's different from the usual smell of my room…And then it hit me.I wasn’t in my old room. The ceiling above me was different, the walls painted in a deep shade I didn’t recognize.
The bed beneath me was smaller but softer than anything I’d ever slept on before. This wasn’t my house, nor my room. It was a different place I don't know about.Does it mean this is still part of my nightmares…, maybe after a few seconds, the evil man will walk through the door to torment me again.
Panic crawled through me,Where was I?I sat up quickly, the covers pooling around my waist as I took in my surroundings.
.A neatly arranged desk. A leather couch near the window. A tall bookshelf stacked with novels and guns? What the hell?A small short gun was placed on top of the shelf.
Will the man use the gun this time instead of the whip?I searched frantically for a way out, trying not to start crying again.I had thought that i had escaped finally from the sufferings and nightmares, only to realise that i was likely in the nightmare again.
I was desperate and looking for a way to save myself that I didn’t even feel the brimming energy inside me.When I stood up , I suddenly felt alive.Lighter.I was given a pause, but waving it aside, I continued my journey to find my way out of this room before he came.
A memory flashed in my mind.
My angel.
It was sudden, though. The thought made warmth bloom in my chest.AndrianI didn’t understand it, but he had been the angel in some of my nightmares keeping me safe.
The one pulling me back from the darkness, night after night, always saving me from the torturous man. I remember faintly waking up several times with him there to offer me comfort. He will squeeze my hands and smiled at me, telling me to go back to sleep.
His presence was the only thing that had made the nightmares fade,His voice was the only thing that had calmed me
.But where was he?I glanced around as if I would find him anywhere, but he was nowhere to be found.Has my captor caught him?The thought of that made me shudder in dread.
I took a cautious step toward the door, my bare feet touching the cool floor.
Slowly, I pushed it open and stepped into the hallway. The air smelled like coffee and something rich, maybe breakfast? But the kitchen was empty. The living room was empty. Every room I checked was the same.
No one was here.A strange feeling settled in my chest, part unease, the other part, something else I couldn’t name. I wasn’t scared, not really. Something keeps telling me that i was safe here, its Not like before in my nightmares,But something still feels off.
Where is my angel?Making up my mind, with the gun in my shaky hands, I prepared to run out.Just as I was about to run out, I saw a shadow of a man, and he was coming from outside.
My heart almost leaped to my mouth. My heart jumped.Because of my hesitation in waiting for my angel, the man has caught me again.
My body trembled in fear as my legs gave out, crashing me to the floor.I closed my eyes, waiting for the harsh sting and beating s of my captor that never came.
After some time, I peered through my palms to see what was happening. Only to be given another shock.Looming over me was my angel.Tall, sharp-eyed, dressed in all black.
His expression was unreadable, his gaze immediately locking onto me.
Was he sad?I exhaled, relief washing over me so fast it made me lightheaded. He was here.He had come back.
My angel has come for me.I felt his strong and comforting hands wrapped around me before he lifted me up, taking me back to where I had come from.My body tensed up.
the evil man, he will come back. His eyes furrowed slightly in confusion before he nodded in understanding.
“please don't take me back…” i tried to please, but he shushed me.
“You are safe now Alex” he said, as his hand hovered on the door.
I nodded after a long while, and my angel was patiently waiting for me to talk.“Okay”I managed to say at last. I choose to trust my angel, since he said I was safe then I will be safe. The belief was strong this time.
I have a feeling that with him here, my captor will never come for me again.I didn’t know when I drifted into a dreamless sleep
.
Andrian pov
I should not have left him alone, I should have been with him, no matter anything. But no.I had stepped out to make a private call with Viper.
Even though we have no phone. I made sure of that to keep them away from now.
Do we have no way to communicate with the outside world?but the woman who runs a bar on this island, who is also the owner of the small motel we are staying in right now, miss Emelda.
She is a kind woman, who had takenUs in without asking too many questions. She has a private phone booth that was not connected to any server that could've used to trace us. According to her, her papa who was in.
The army used it to communicate with her when he was in the camp, without the authorities finding out. After much pleading and using my charms on her, she had allowed me to use it, in return I helped her with the dishes.
I was just coming back after doing the dishes for her when I saw what made my heart cut.Alex was on the ground, While his shaky hands that held my revolver were covering his face. Like he was trying to shield himself from someone. In this case, me.My heart had twisted in pain.
My boyfriend doesn't trust me any more, but that didn't stop me from going to him.His eyes had been filled with uncertainty like he wasn’t sure if he should believe me.
Like he was still expecting something else.“I am so sorry for leaving you”I said but from his expression he never heard me.
His eyes continued to flicker around. My heart had clenched even further from pain.I know what was going through his mind. He thinks that he is still in a nightmare.
“You are safe Alex”I tried to assure him, as I carried him back to the room, but he had tensed up like someone who was tasered.
“Please don't take me back” was his tiny response. That broke my heart. Did he take me as a bad person?
Doesn't he feel safe again with me?I regretted leaving him alone to answer the call.
“You are safe, now alex”I had the second time, this time making sure he saw the truth and sincerity in my eyes.
And I guessed that worked, after sometime, he nodded, before he snuggled himself deeper into my embrace.
I almost shouted out in joy.I have gotten his trust.
I comforted myself despite my raging emotions, and carried him back to the room, laying him down quietly as he had already slept off again.
Sitting beside him, I looked at his peaceful features. His smile says it all that he was free from the trauma of his kidnap.
Something in me flipped. For the first time since the kidnap, I actually felt relaxed. What mattered was that he is okay now.
“I will not leave you again, I promise”Kissing his forehead, before I quietly laid down beside him.
My exhaustion caught up to me, and I went to sleep, for the first time in two weeks.
