Dead emotions
Alex pov
The two duo were together, acting all lovey dovey, without a care in the world.Like I hadn’t walked in on them together just last night.Like my life hadn’t been fucking destroyed by a liar and a joker.June leaned in, whispering something into Luke’s ear before letting out a laugh. His lips curled into a faint smirk, like this was nothing. Like I was nothing. My stomach twisted painfully. But I bore the pain silently. I didn’t want to confront Luke, not here, or when he was with the whore, but as I turned to leave, June's loud and nerve irritating voice reached me.Oh, look who it is,” she said sweetly, tilting her head. “Still heartbroken?”I stopped, turning to face her, her eyes glittering with amusement, I didn't know when I felt unbridged rage swell inside of me from mere looking at her.“The hallway fell into silence. The chattering, the murmurs and the laughter all died down.Everyone was watching.Waiting to see if I’d break down again.I felt my chest tighten. My breath turned shallow, my body trembling, not from sadness this time, but from something worse. It is raw and wild, almost foreign to me. But at this point I didn’t care.June took a step closer, her smirk deepening from the attention. “You really thought Luke loved you?” she whispered, just loud enough for everyone to hear. “God, you were so easy to fool.”Laughter erupted around me.I gritted my teeth so hard my jaw ached. The memories of last night flashes in my mind. But I immediately pushed it down.“You are a bitch” I muttered under my breath. Watching in glee as her eyes widened.Bet she was not expecting that from me.“You are an attention seeker, and a whore” I continued, not in any way afraid or thinking of the consequences. I was way past reasoning. The hallway descended in an awkward moment. Many not knowing which side they are on.June's face twisted into an ugly expression. Her face turned into shades of different purple but I didn’t care. I was way past caring. What I have said has shut her up for good.my gaze flickered to the side, that was when I saw him.Andrian.He was leaning against the lockers, in the midst of students. His arms were crossed, as he watched with an unreadable expression. He wasn’t smirking. He wasn’t laughing. He was just there.Observing.He had tried to warn me about Luke, but I had waved it aside. I had thought that he was just being Andrian and looking for a way to cause me heartbreak but standing in the hallway with Luke hands on June's shoulder.I realised that I was wrong.Andrian had been rightI had mocked him, fought him, insulted him, even when he revealed his identity as the prodigy, I had done it all for loveAll for Luke.Something inside me snapped. The pain, the heartbreak, the regret, everything shattered into dust.I felt… empty.Hollow.And then, I smiled.A cold, cruel smile. The laughter around me faded into uneasy silence. As my own rebounded round the hallway. Stopping Luke and June that were turned to leave.June blinked. Luke’s expression twisted in confusion. Even Andrian tilted his head slightly, his gaze sharp and intense. And he was spotting a frown.I would have stopped. I would have had a sense of mind to know that I was laughing like a mad man, but at this point, I felt nothing.I wiped an imaginary tear from my eye and let out a quiet chuckle.“You think you broke me?” I murmured, voice calm.June’s smirk wavered. “Well, I…”“You did me a favor.”She stilled.Luke finally spoke, his voice hesitant. “Alex…”“Shut up.” My tone was sharper than a blade. My eyes locked onto his, cold and detached. “You don’t get to speak to me.”Luke shut his mouth instantly more in shock than anything else.June huffed, crossing her arms. “So what? You’re gonna act like this doesn’t bother you?”I tilted my head, lips curling into a smirk. “Oh, it did,” I admitted. “But not anymore.”And for the first time, I meant it.The sting, the sadness, the heartbreak…,it was still there, but it didn’t control me anymore.No.Now, it fueled me.I turned on my heel, walking away without another word. Leaving everyone dumbfounded.I walked into the classroom like I owned the place.Because, in a way, I did.I was just coming back from the V.C office. The memories of what happened there were still fresh in my head. Everything was looking new to me, but regardless, I am doing it.I wanted to test the waters to know how far the V.C. could bend the rules for a Davidson heir, and trust me, it's even more than I hoped for.Heads turned the moment I stepped inside. Today was the only combination class everybody has whether you are an Elite or not.Mr Graham was already in class. Whispers filled the air immediately, Some were laced with curiosity, and others were talking about what had happened in the hallway. They all expected me to shrink under their stares, to still be the broken fool who got cheated on and humiliated. They were wrong.I strolled to my seat without a care in the world, dropping my bag onto the desk with a loud thud."Mr. Alex," the teacher, Mr. Graham called out, his voice tight with irritation. "You’re late."I leaned back in my chair, my lips curling into an amused smirk. "I’m aware."A hush fell over the room. The old Alex would have apologized, would have bowed his head, and muttered some excuse. But that Alex died together with his emotion in the hallway.Mr. Graham’s lips pressed into a thin line. "And do you think that’s what you are supposed to do?"I tilted my head, pretending to think. "That depends."His eyes narrowed. "On what?""On whether you think you can do anything about it," I replied smoothly. The class fell into another round of stunned silence.Mr. Graham’s face turned red. "Excuse me?"I rested my chin on my hand, staring at him with cold amusement. "You seem frustrated. Should I have one of my family’s lawyers draft up an apology for you?"His anger faltered for a second, his fingers twitching as he hesitated.I could see it in his eyes, the cold realization of my last name. The power I held as the sole heir of the Davidson family.Mr. Graham tried to compose himself. "Rules apply to everyone, Alex, even you."I let out a low chuckle. "Oh? And what do you plan to do about it? Give me detention? Maybe suspend me?" I leaned forward, my voice dropping into something dangerously soft. "Do you really want to test if the school board values your job more than my family’s donations?"His face was drained of color. That’s what I thought.Silence stretched between us, thick with tension. The entire class was holding their breath, waiting for him to retaliate. But he didn’t.Because he couldn’t."That’s what I thought," I said, my voice smooth and unbothered. "Now, if you don’t mind, I’d like to continue my education."I stretched out in my seat, completely at ease, as Mr. Graham turned away, defeated. The whispers around me had changed. There was no more pity in their voices. No more mockery.I could feel the burning gaze of Andrian at my back, the confused and shocked looks of Luke, but I waved them aside.I wasn’t a fool anymore.I wasn’t weak. The old Alex was gone. And in his place? Is someone untouchable?Someone Elite. The Davidson heir.
