Epilogue
"I thought in this lifetime, you have to give up someone you love for once just to be forgiven and paid for what you've done."
But you were wrong. You didn't have to give up something to be forgiven because you are already forgiven. You didn't have to lose something in this lifetime to have something that you already have. And certainly, Kim Taehyung isn't something that is up for sacrificing.
This is what you've learn. If you keep on thinking about everyone, if you keep on sacrificing for everyone. If you keep on being selfless, you might just lose everything you have and love. You learned that it's okay to think about yourself sometimes. It's okay to be selfish sometimes.
And you regret only realizing this right now. You hate that you only realize this right now. You hated how you let everything sink you down without thinking.
But is it too late now? Is it too late to take everything back?
"There are times where we think we're doing the right thing. Where it seems like it is the only way and its okay. It's okay to be stupid sometimes. It might be late but at least you realized it. But the question is, are you ready to undo it?" Nayeon said after the graduation when you two met at the exit of the venue.
"It looks like he doesn't want to be with me anymore." You said feeling hopeless.
"How can you say so?" She asked, caressing your shoulder.
"Because if he still wants us, then he'd be here by now." You answered her looking back at the stage of the venue.
When his name was called out, he never went up to the stage. His seat was left empty for him to fill. Some say that he's busy with fixing his family problem and couldn't attend the graduation. Some say that he already got his diploma and went out of the country to escape everything. None of them was ever verified.
"What if God really wanted you together? Remember, you avoided him and you told him to avoid you too, of course he'd think that you still need time."
What if God really wanted you together? What if. How can that one unsure phrase can give you a spark of hope? How can one wonder made you feel like your heart is being revived for another life? What if he is the one? What if he'd only waiting for you? You'll hold on to that what if.
"I have to go Nayeon, I have to go to Kara." You said to her before you sprint out of the venue.
You saw your parents on the way out there. They tried to make you stop but you shook your head and waved at them. "I have to go somewhere. I'll see you home!" You said while running.
You took the bus towards the charnel house. You can't wait to reach the charnel house and tell Kara your decision. To tell her something first is like having her blessing. You saw Father Ramil outside the church in front of the charnel house.
"Good day, Father!" You greeted him.
He waved his hand and smiled, "You're here. Its your graduation day, right? Congratulations!" He said.
"Thank you, Father!" You yelled back as you run towards the charnel house.
You inhaled deep when you stop at the door way of the charnel house. You saw someone standing in front Kara's locker. You saw his back. His hands were deep in his pockets. There was a bouquet of purple lilies on her locker. He was visiting her too.
You slowly walk towards him and stood there by his side silently until he spoke.
"I'm leaving. Mom wanted us to leave and go to Spain." He said in silence.
You were shocked. You looked at him. But you didn't know what to say. It feels like your world halted. It felt like your heart stopped beating. Just when you decided to have him back he's telling you this.
It is indeed too late. You're too late and no one is to blame here but you.
"I-is that so? Then that's good, you'll be away from the mess here." You tried to laugh off the pain. You tried to make your tears stop from brimming to the edge of your eyes.
In the end, you just couldn't tell him what you really feel. It's too late now, so what for?
"I'm sorry I can't wait for you anymore." He said, his head lowered before he left.
Your eyes widened at what he said. He pass by your side as you try tk comprehend what he said.
He waited for you. He was waiting for you. So are you going to let it pass? To miss this chance? What if this was your only chance? What if he never come back? Your fate is up to you, its for you to decide wether you keep him or not. Its not up to anyone, not even to your sister.
So you run after him, you saw his car already leaving. You run faster, you can't let this go. You can't let this chance go.
You were running alongside the passenger seat until you reach it, you tap on his window, hard. He slowed down and rolled down the passenger seat's window.
"Why are you running?" He asked, leaning towards your side.
"You still feel something for me right?" You sounded so desperate!
"That's a given, Y/n." He said. You smiled.
"Will you come back for me then?"
You wouldn't ask him to stay. You won't ask him to do that. Because Kim Taehyung had a wound before because of your sister's death and it healed but now, he's wounded again but not for the same reason. He's wounded because of his family and its a different blow, you know your love won't heal him. He needed his time of his own, for himself to heal. And you aren't one to hinder that.
So you won't ask him to stay like everybody would do. Instead, you'd wait for him to come back when he's ready. When he's ready for you to continue your love story. When he's ready for you. Again.
"I will always come back for you and to you, Y/n. That's a promise I'd like you to remember. Always."
"Always." You replied back before you step away from him and let his car go.
After two weeks when Taehyung went abroad, your world became a shade darker than it ever did. You had no contact with each other. How are you going to wait for him? Do you just hold on to his word? You should've asked for his number before he left.
But at the end of the day, you still found yourself calling for his old number that is now unavailable and left voice mails of how your day went. Hoping he'd call somehow.
While visiting Jae Hyun at the coffee shop you used to work in, your phone rang flashing a number from abroad. You instantly accepted it expecting Taehyung. And he never failed you.
"Hey," he started.
You swallowed, your throat was hurting and your eyes starts to get blurry with tears. "Hey," you replied.
"I'm sorry I only called now." He said, you heard busy streets from his background.
"It's okay. I miss you." You mumbled, Jae Hyun left you for some privacy.
"I miss you too." He croaked.
"I missed you so much, babe. I love you." You sniff as you let your tears fall.
Its only been two weeks and you're like this! How will you endure him being gone for like a year or more?
"Oh, God. I'm going home. I'm going home now." He said breathlessly.
You shook your head, "No, I'm fine. I'm fine, be with your mom right now. She needs you."
"Don't you need me too?" He asked that made your eyes shut.
Why is he like this? He's making you want him more. He's making it harder for you to wait.
"Know your priority, Taehyung." You tried to hold your ground.
"You are my priority."
You bit your lip. In the end, you're the one that needs to be strong between the both of you because one word from you and you know he'll fly back here. He will forget everything and go back to you. And you don't want that. Not when you're not yet ready for each other.
"It's okay, I vowed to wait for you and I will wait for you, so take your time there."
"Damn it, I love you so much." He hissed.
And you love him too. You'll wait for him, no matter what it takes.
This is your story. Full of sorrow, pain, death, blame and sacrifices. You lost a lot of things, you lost your sister, you lost your family, you lost your love. But along that, there's also the good things. Friendship, lessons, acceptance, letting go, coming back and most especially love.
A storm has been down to your city but that only gave you rainbows. Life only gave you pressure but that only made you a diamond. Your world has become dark but you're already used to it and found a way for it to be beautiful in your own eyes. You've been through hell and back, now you're waiting for your love and ready to new beginnings.
And you can only hope that they are ready for a stronger, better and smarter you.
