Chapter 36

Hurt

Brenda's feet were stuck to the ground and she had no idea of what to do. Watching him approach her, she pulled the saliva that was in her throat before keeping a normal face as she made an effort to act as maturely as she could.

"Hi, Brenda." Leo reached closer to her and she smiled at him and said, "hi".

The aura was so tensed that she wanted to go faster before something awkward happens.

" How are you feeling today? How's your head?" Leo conversed and from his eyes, she could tell that he was being sincere with his concerns but how could she look at him in the eyes with all the anger that she was feeling inside?

"I am fine Leo. I have to go now." She said with her legs not being able to contain the pressure that she was feeling inside of her. Brenda was naturally an open spirit girl, but she had no clue on how she was feeling at that particular point in time.

Biting her lower lip and hoping that she doesn't embarrass herself, Brenda started to walk away, but her right hand got caught up by Leo and she froze immediately with her heartbeat racing some more.

"I am sorry about what came to pass yesterday. I know how you can feel and it's totally understandable since Cherry is a crazy being and she has always been like that."

Leo was trying to explain himself for God knows why and thinking that Brenda was listening to him, the lady crack up in a hysterical manner which led to Leo wondering if she was okay inside her head.

"Why should you explain to me? Leo, we are just neighbors and I should be thankful to you that you saved me from my ex-boyfriend's madness." Brenda spoke out but Leo could tell that she was making that up.

Her shaky voice and the fact she was literally forcing the laughter out of her mouth, made him want to know what she had on her mind, but then, Brenda looked at his hand and politely asked him to let go of hers.

"Sorry, I had no intentions of getting you angry."

He apologized and there was silence again. Leo quickly brushed it off and with a soft tone, he invited Brenda to come to eat up dinner at his house but she shook her head in denial before he could even finish his statement.

Her eyes showed so much sorrow but her mouth said something else.

"Look, if you think that Cherry is my girlfriend, then you are....." Leo was still talking, when the lady brutally interrupted him when she let out,

"What you do with your life is none of my business, neighbor, and again, I tell you that you owe me no single explanation for what you do or how you live your life."

She wasn't harsh and her head was lowered. With that being said, Brenda didn't want to stay in his presence, so she walked out from him, leaving the man to feel so hurt over what had taken place.

Both of them were hurt but ironically, they can't feel such a feeling and it was so strange to them. Leo on the other hand was a successful young man, who had changed into a simple person, looking for love since all the ladies around him, wanted only his money.

So far, he was succeeding because he had never felt such a way for any lady before up to the point of wanting to explain himself to her. But there he was with Brenda pushing to the limit to be friendly but she misunderstood him just like Cherry wanted.

"Damn you Cherry, what will I do to have you leave my life for good?" Leo questioned himself as he stood there alone, watching at Brenda crossing the road and disappearing behind the street trees and numerous cars.

Leticia was already packing her stuff for the day and she seemed so tired. Knowing that she had done some little extra tone work, her eyes were itchy and all she wanted to do was to get back home, shower and have some food and then fall on her bed before embracing the sweet hands of sleep.

Aliyah met Rowan in the elevator and her joy was huge. She had been meaning to spend some time with him and knowing how they use to be, he hardly said no to her.

"Hey, are you free this evening? I wanna take you somewhere." She said.

"Not today Ali, I need to do something very important." Rowan objected. Aliyah felt disregarded and with her tone changing, she told him that he had been saying no to her for some time now and she had begun to wonder what the matter is.

Rowan always being vigilant, he could tell what the issue was and he tapped her on the shoulder and told her not to worry. Adding to it, he told her that what he has to do is urgent if not they will hang out together ah having no other alternative but to accept, her face was filled with pain but she had to endure it.

"Okay, I have heard you. You take care and have a lovely night."

Saying those words with a heavy heart, Rowan and Aliyah separated with their cheeks meeting each other as they normally perked each other. He didn't look like someone who was leaving the building anytime soon and Aliyah had sensed that. Walking out of the edifice, she hid herself at one corner of the building and she saw Rowan, waiting outside.

"I know you have nothing important and you are just waiting for that slut." Aliyah playing the detective, voiced out and she was right. Just after some minutes, she could see a smile ok Rowan's face, and on looking at the place keenly, she noticed that he was smiling all because he had seen Leticia coming out of the elevator, and his aura was one that she had never gotten the chance feel.
