Chapter 248
Chapter 248
Lily's POV
The next day, we had only two scenes left to complete the filming for Male #3 and Female #3.
One scene took place during the day—a conflict between the characters in the rain. After finishing that, we had one more scene scheduled for nighttime.
This scene involved floating on a boat under an ancient bridge in the old town. Male #3 was supposed to confess his feelings to Female #3, but she would accidentally fall into the lake.
Looking at this part of the script, I couldn't help but mock it.
"Seriously though, isn't this plot a bit ridiculous?"
"She kisses him and then falls into the lake? Is Male #3 the Loch Ness Monster or something?"
Zane explained, "This is a scene where the couple solidifies their relationship. After Female #3 falls into the lake, Male #3 frantically searches for her, which heightens the romantic tension."
William suddenly expressed strong concerns: "Falling into the lake—won't that be dangerous?"
I laughed and patted my chest confidently. "Don't worry, I've been trained by a professional swimming coach. If I hadn't been so focused on my studies back then, the coach would have recruited me for the national team."
William was still worried and pulled Zane aside, instructing him to prepare extra motorboats and life preservers, just in case.
We soon began filming. William and I stood on the boat with the lake perfectly still. If we weren't filming, this beautiful night scene would have been perfect for a date.
Since this was a long shot, I moved closer to William with a smile. Instead of reciting the lines from the script, I spoke from my heart: "William, the moonlight is beautiful tonight."
William looked at the bright moon in the sky, then at my sparkling eyes. "Yes, it is beautiful."
"That's not what I meant!"
William asked in confusion: "What then?"
Seeing his clueless expression, I explained with exasperation: "Japanese author Natsume Soseki once taught English at a school. When translating a scene where a couple was walking under the moonlight and the man spontaneously said 'I love you,' Soseki felt a direct translation lacked poetry. He thought it should be translated as 'The moonlight is beautiful tonight.' It's gentle, subtle, and moving—dissolving love into the moonlight you're sharing with someone."
"It truly is beautiful."
William understood my meaning and smiled tenderly.
"So, if someone says to you 'The moonlight is beautiful tonight,' it means they like you. If you feel the same way, you can reply: 'The wind is gentle too,' meaning I like you as well."
William nodded thoughtfully: "I understand now."
I sighed: "What exactly do you understand?"
William turned my face toward his and looked at me seriously: "The wind is gentle too."
Those words instantly touched my heart. I blinked, momentarily speechless.
William and I forgot we were filming. He leaned down and placed a kiss on my lips—devout and passionate, making me want to surrender completely.
The wind blew my hair, brushing against his face, tickling him slightly.
"William, I love you." I called his name emotionally, which prompted him to deepen the kiss in response.
When the kiss ended, I was slightly breathless, leaning against his chest.
"Alright, we still need to film."
With those words, I suddenly rocked the boat and "accidentally" fell into the lake!
I splashed around in the water and shouted "Help!" a few times.
The next second, something strange grabbed my foot forcefully, pulling me down into the water!
I panicked, choked on water, and looked desperately at William's face.
William's POV
Lily sank beneath the water and didn't resurface. I sensed something was wrong.
Logically, Lily wouldn't play this kind of joke, especially at night with such deep water. It was even more unlikely that she would deliberately stay underwater.
I waved at the camera, trying to get their attention.
Beatrice's POV
Meanwhile, Zane and the rest of us watched their passionate kiss, many covering our eyes in embarrassment.
Watching the two of them embrace passionately, I exclaimed excitedly: "This is too sweet! I can't handle it. This couple is perfect!"
Henry watched them nestled together, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes.
Michael patted my head: "Can't you be a bit more reserved?"
I desperately wished Michael and I could have a scene like this. At that thought, I chuckled.
"What's there to be reserved about? It's not like I can't be kissed. Henry and I have a kissing scene too!"
When Michael heard about my kissing scene with Henry, his expression darkened: "Is this your first kiss?"
"Yes, my first on-screen kiss will be with Henry, unfortunately!"
Before I could finish, Michael pulled me over and kissed me hard.
"What are you doing?!" I wiped my lips, looking completely flustered.
I had only wanted to make Michael jealous, not expecting him to kiss me directly.
"I'm just helping you get comfortable with kissing guys, so you won't be embarrassed later."
Michael's ridiculous explanation was delivered with complete confidence. I was furious but helpless: "Since you've already kissed me, can you be my boyfriend?"
Michael remained composed: "We'll see about that later."
I wanted to scratch his face—he was so infuriating!
"Fine, if you don't want to be my boyfriend, then I won't request a fake kiss for filming. Director Zane doesn't approve anyway, so I won't have to beg him."
Michael became anxious when he heard this.
"No! You must request it!"
"Why should I? You're not my boyfriend, so what right do you have to tell me what to do?"
"I... I... Who says I'm not?"
I raised an eyebrow, surprised by this development.
"How are you my boyfriend? You never properly confessed to me, hmph."
"I'm confessing now. I... I like you."
My face instantly turned red. I couldn't believe he actually said it, with so many people around.
At that moment, everyone around started chanting.
"Accept him!"
"Accept him!"
"Ah!"
Zane, who was watching the monitor, suddenly cried out. Michael and I quickly went over to him.
"What's wrong?"
Zane looked at the black screen of the camera, his mouth twitching: "What do we do? The camera crashed, and I don't know if what we just filmed was saved."
"Nothing we can do," I shrugged. "We'll have to film again next time. It's not a difficult scene anyway, and I get to enjoy their chemistry a bit longer."
Michael asked, "Should we call them back?"
"No," I glared at him. "It's so romantic! They won't get lost, so why bring them back? The atmosphere is perfect—why would you want to ruin it?"
William's POV
Seeing that I couldn't get their attention, I looked at the spot where Lily had disappeared.
It was about a foot away from the boat. I bit my lip, took off my jacket and shoes, and jumped in!
The bottom of the lake was empty.
Had Lily sunk to the bottom?
I wasn't an exceptional swimmer, and descending was particularly difficult. After going down about two meters, my limbs started to feel numb.
Lily had definitely jumped in—how could she vanish into thin air?
I paddled around, about to surface, when suddenly pain shot through my leg, and I uncontrollably sank toward the bottom.
This was bad—a cramp!
My expression darkened. Even professional swimming coaches couldn't save themselves from cramps underwater.
What could I do?
Just then, a figure appeared before me.
I was brought to the surface and back onto the boat.
I noticed my rescuer was a woman.
"Thank you for saving me," I said, pushing back my wet hair and rubbing my cramping foot, preparing to dive again.
"That's enough, don't push yourself. If you go down again, I won't be able to save you."
I hesitated: "But Lily..."
"I know. I'll go find her—you stay here."
With that, the woman jumped into the water.
I watched her disappear, whispering: "Who are you?"
About five minutes later, the woman slowly swam up with Lily in her arms.
A flash of hope crossed my eyes.
Lily had clearly choked on water and lost consciousness.
