Chapter 38 Garden house

Chapter 38 Garden house
Ursula walked into the garden house.

She hadn't brushed her teeth nor washed her face.

She just got up from the bed after she saw Ethan's car drive out and walked into the garden house.

Why didn't I find out about this part of the mansion earlier?

She inhaled slowly, trying to ignore the bodyguard who had left his duty post, followed her and now stood at the glass door pretending not to be watching her.

The garden smelled of different flowers she couldn't name.

There were red, purple, pink, white, yellow and green and of different sizes.

Only one she could distinguish was the smell of rose.

That was because Jared had brought them to her in the earliest stage of their relationship.

I wonder if everything he said that night about Shania was true or was it just another scheme or plan to get into my life because of the fame and wealth.

She let her fingers really feel the flowers with her eyes closed.

No. He's not the same person anymore. He was probably never who I thought he was. No one ever is.

She opened her eyes and blinked rapidly like it would push all the thoughts of Jared away but it didn't.

Instead, it kept reeling in every thought and memory that was part of the sequence of events.

Shania. The house. Law school. The salon. Mom. Stop!

Her hand brushed over a thorn.

She flinched.

A tiny cut on her index finger.

Then, as expected, tiny blood too.

She pressed the index finger as if to press out all the blood at once.

But it was slow, so she sucked it.

What about Ethan? What is the truth he's hiding? Maybe, this is not the first time he forced himself on a girl. Maybe, there are a lot of girls.

The quiet ambience of the garden house changed.

Ursula turned around.

The door had been opened by Camilla.

Ursula didn't know how to act.

Am I supposed to act angry or sad? I mean, no matter what, he's her brother after all. I don't even think she can be angry with him as much as Taylor is. This is the most awkward situation ever. Being married to a man without morals. Who did what he did to his ex. And his sister...she stands by the side of the victim?

"Ursula, darling I have been looking for you everywhere" Camilla smiled revealing her perfect white teeth which she was so proud of.

"Who cares about side effects? Just give me what I want" she'd always say to dentists and plastic surgeons.

Camilla cat-walked to Ursula, her silky red short gown flowing side to side which each proud step she took.

Ursula faked a smile.

"You had me worried. What are you doing here?" Camilla's cold hands reached out and held Ursula's jaw.

Ew. Is that eye crust? Looks like the pig doesn't only lack in common sense and status. She also lacks in basic hygiene.

Ursula didn't know what facial expression to maintain and didn't want to say anything because she hadn't brushed her teeth yet.

"I wanted to take some fresh air" Ursula said with teeth shut but somehow Camilla still got a whiff of it.

Of course, you'd want some fresh air from smelling. I mean, you want a break from yourself. Skunk.

"Oh. That's very good...for the baby."

Ursula lowered her head.

I really hope this stupid bitvh didn't come herd to find some Poison Ivy. She better not hurt my brother's child. He's endured so much hell from her for her to think she can waste his time.

"Have you had breakfast?" Camilla asked, holding her breath in case Ursula spoke.

Ursula nodded.

It was a lie.

"Oh"

"How is Taylor?"

"Oh.. Taylor's getting better... I mean, she has to..she hasn't been getting enough sleep..she shouts herself awake in the middle of the night...if I wasn't here for her, I don't know what she'd have done to herself"

Ursula felt a certain type of anger spread across her chest.

Why don't you just sue him? He doesn't deserve to be free. For what he did to her, she deserves justice. Cases like these are the reason I wanted to go to law school so bad but...I guess that's on a big pause now.

"I'm so sorry"

Camilla held her breath again.

"It's okay..the nurse is here. That's one of the reasons I came downstairs to find you"

Ursula let a smile stay on her face for some seconds.

"Thank you"

Don't mention bitch.

"It's nothing" she said instead.

She left.

Ursula took a deep breath.

Camilla is so different from Ethan.

She rubbed her hand over her belly.

Even though I won't be present in your life, I pray you don't turn out to be like your father.
