Chapter 61

Vita felt the rush of magic flow through her as the gust of wind rushed by them. She looked at Deak with concern.

Deak let out a breath, “It’s small girl.”

Vita looked confused for a moment. Who was small girl?

Deak smirked but it was quickly gone. “It’s Amanda. Small girl is my nickname for her. She’s in trouble. This only happens when things get to be too much for her and her emotions get out of control. We need to find her.”

Vita closed her eyes to get a feeling of where she was. She reached up to rub the necklace. She closed her eyes as she started to chant. She could get a glimpse of where Amanda was but couldn’t place where she was on campus, since she was unfamiliar with the place. “I’m having a hard time figuring out where she is,” she admitted.

Gretchen walked over and grabbed her hand. “Here, let me help you.” Gretchen opened her mind for Vita to show where she was seeing Amanda.

“Okay, I see her. It looks like she’s over by a cafe across the campus, it looks like someone else is standing there with her.”

Vita gasped when she realized who was standing next to her.

“We have to go quickly, he’s going to hurt her,” Vita called out.

Deak tensed up, “Who?” He didn’t like hearing that someone was going to hurt his cousin. Deak took in deep breaths. No one would be harming small girl.

Gretchen and Vita looked at each other before looking at Deak. They were scared to tell him who they saw with Amanda.

“Who was it?” he growled. He had a hard time controlling his temper when it came to protecting the people he loved and cared about.

“Tristan,” they both answered.

Deak’s eyes filled with fury. Vita sucked in a breath seeing Deak behave this way, she didn’t know whether or not to be afraid or relieved that he was hers. Vita shook her head. No, he’s not mine. She reminded herself. But he could be, a small voice said to her. Now wasn’t the time to go into her relationship status with Deak. They needed to get Amanda away from Tristan. “We have to leave. Now,” Deak ordered.

Deak turned and started heading toward the cafe. Malakai his wolf had grown tired of being repressed deep inside. He wanted to be let out so that he could give this guy Tristan a well-needed lesson. And Malakai was just the wolf that could teach him.

The girls followed Deak as he started to run across the campus. Vita noticed another small group running in the same direction and realized it was Hudson and his crew.

Hudson noticed them but didn’t slow down. “You felt it too?” he asked them once they caught up with each other.

Vita nodded. “We have to get there quick, Hudson. She’s in trouble.”

Hudson’s eyes narrowed and nodded before he took off running faster than anyone else.

“She’s by the cafe!” Vita yelled out.

Amanda continued to hold her head as the magic and her emotions continued to overwhelm her.

Tristan looked at her with crazy in his eyes. “So you do have magic. Complete raw magic, just waiting to be utilized,” he said as he got up from where he’d been knocked back. He hummed with excitement, so many ideas bouncing through his head on what he could do if he had that kind of power. Tristan began to rub his hands as he walked closer to Amanda. He heard a giggle echo through the alleyway that was just to the right of him. He turned to look and saw glowing eyes watching him from their hiding spot. Tristan smirked. “So, that’s where you’ve been hiding.”

Ophelia giggled again as she walked out of the alleyway and over to Tristan. “I thought you wanted to wait before taking her?” Ophelia asked.

Tristan’s fingers tingled as jolts of his magic moved between his fingers. “I didn’t believe how much magic she had until I saw her use it. It’s amazing, and she has no idea how to control it or use it.”

“You promised me that you’d kill her,” Ophelia said when she got closer to Amanda.

Amanda looked up and her eyes widened and grew angry when she saw Ophelia standing there. She tried to lunge out to grab Ophelia but Tristan gave her a shock that jolted her, forcing her to fall to the ground. She looked up at Tristan her face filled with confusion.

“What’s wrong, Amanda? Thought I was just a dumb human guy? You should have been able to smell my magic the second you met me,” Tristan spit out at her. His eyes narrowed at her as he looked at her with disgust. “I can’t believe so many are afraid of her.”

He fed her another jolt of his power, causing her to double over in pain.

Ophelia bubbled with excitement, her plan was working and she was going to be rid of Amanda Stevens once and for all. Then nothing would stand in the way of her and Hudson becoming mates and sealing their bond. Her obsession was growing more and more intense. Her wolf tried to hide from her but she knew how to manipulate her wolf and feed off her wolf’s strength, giving her the power she needed to do what she wanted.

Tristan rolled his eyes as he felt Ophelia’s anxiousness grow. The girl had no patience. Tristan could sense that someone was coming. “Patience, Ophelia, our guests are just about to arrive.” Tristan looked over and saw a small group running toward them.

Ophelia waved at Hudson with enthusiasm.

Hudson slowed down when he saw Ophelia, his wolf Artemis was not happy and started growling and howling over their mate. He looked down and saw Amanda on the ground with her arms wrapped around herself.

“Amanda.” He started to make his way to her but stopped.

Tristan pulled her up and grabbed her by the neck. “I don’t think so, mate.”

Hudson growled as his anger grew inside him. Hudson started to itch uncontrollably where the bracelet was rubbing at his wrist. The angrier he got, the more it itched.

Tristan chuckled. “It’s only going to get worse until you reject her.”

The rest of the crew met up with Hudson. Vita’s eyes filled with worry and concern. Deak snarled as he watched Tristan; he wanted to rip his arms off for threatening his loved ones.

“Easy there, lycan. One move and I’ll send a shock through her so intense she’ll never wake up from.”

Deak remained in his spot, but he placed his arm in front of Vita and slowly guided her behind him, blocking Tristan from looking at his mate.

Tristan glared at Deak. “Well as much as I would love to stay and chat with you all. We’re expected somewhere else right about now. Come, Ophelia,” Tristan ordered.

Ophelia wiggled her fingers and blew kisses to Hudson before they disappeared right in front of their eyes.

Hudson let out a blood-curdling howl as he dropped to the ground and punched it with his fist repeatedly.
