The loud sound of the alarm clock was blaring in the room. As Noah slept, the sound annoyed him. Without opening his eyes, he put his left hand on the alarm clock on his bedside table and turned it off. He tucked himself under the blanket and slept again.
After a few minutes, the door of his room burst open, and a 14-year-old girl entered inside and pulled off the blanket. " Wake up, bro!! You cannot be late on the first day of college."
" Let me sleep for five minutes, Nora, " Noah moped and tried to pull the blanket over himself.
Nora pulled out her phone from her pocket and played an annoying alarm clock sound on it. Noah tried to cover his ears, but Nora increased the volume.
"Erghh!! Please shut it off," Noah shrieked and sat up, removing the blanket.
Nora chuckled at her brother's antics and said, " Get ready, bro. Mom's calling for her favorite son."
" That's right. Mom loves me more, " Noah smirks at Nora.
Nora scoffs and hits her brother with a pillow.
" You are jealous, " Noah teases her again, and Nora hits him even more. Noah gets down from his bed and rushes into the restroom to escape his sister's attacks.
Noah got fresh and wore a casual brown-colored long-sleeved t-shirt and ripped jeans. He checked himself in the mirror and smiled. A guy with grey-colored eyes and light brown hair smiled back. He was about 5'11" tall and had a trim build, not overly muscular. He was someone who always liked to look good and dress well. Once he felt satisfied, he took out his bag and went downstairs. His mother had arranged the breakfast on the table, and Noah hugged her from behind, " Good Morning, Mom."
At the same time, Nora and her Dad entered the dining room and sat down for breakfast. " Good Morning, Dad," Noah chirped and went towards Nora, who was dressed in her school uniform. He ruffled her hair, and she whined, " Hey...You are spoiling my hairstyle."
" When will you grow up, Noah?" Dad said, shaking his head.
"You are already an adult, and it's high time you shift to your college dorm. Once you leave, your large room will be mine," Nora smirks.
" No, I won't leave my Mom, " Noah pouts and hugs his Mom while she chastises Nora. " Stop it, Nora. Don't start again."
Noah pulls out his tongue to tease Nora, and his Dad says, " Noah, drop Nora to school before going to college today; I have to go to an important meeting."
" What? Why me? I have an early class today," Noah objects.
" I am getting late; see you all in the evening, " his Dad says and leaves after kissing his wife.
After breakfast, Noah and Nora got ready to leave. Noah suddenly realized he had left his phone in his room and raced upstairs. His phone was on the bedside table beside a photo frame. Noah picked up the photo frame and smiled at it. It was a picture of Noah's first birthday party wherein he was in his mother's arms, and his father had his hands around her waist. Noah's parents had died in a car accident when he was four, while he survived the crash without a scratch.
After his parent's death, Noah was left alone and devastated. His father's best friend cum Business Partner, Mr. Daryl Wright, officially adopted him. Initially, Noah didn't talk to anyone and always cried in his room holding this photo frame, but his adoptive mother Amelia consoled him and helped him get out of his grief. Daryl and Amelia always took care of him as their own. When Amelia gave birth to Nora, Noah felt happy and contented looking at the beautiful baby, and he forgot all his worries.
" Did you sleep again?" he heard Nora screaming from downstairs.
Noah chuckled to himself and kept the photo frame on the table, picked his mobile, and dashed out of the room.
Noah stopped his car in front of Nora's middle school when he saw her waving and blowing a flying kiss at a boy.
" Who's that guy?" he snapped.
" My boyfriend, " Nora said casually.
" Boyfriend??!! Are you kidding me?"
" No, seriously. I love him."
" Love!!!" Noah scoffed. " What do you know about love. You are only 14, for God's sake."
" When you fall in love, you will know it, " Nora said and got out of the car.
" Hey, wait. I am not done talking to you."
" Chill, bro! Buh-byeeeee..." Nora said in a sing-song voice and sprinted towards her school.
" What the..." Noah cursed and started his car to go to his college.
Noah parked his car in his college parking and walked towards his class. His Major was literature. His father owned a publishing company. Noah's biological father was a writer, so he and his best friend Daryl set up a Publication house. Like his father, even Noah loved to write and had even published a few short novels. Unlike most males, he was not interested in Mystery and Action books. Noah was a hopeless romantic and preferred writing Romance novels. He started writing when he was fifteen, but he still felt a void. He always felt the x-factor missing in his stories, and he hadn't cracked it yet.
As Noah entered the building, he saw his Modern Literature Professor collecting books that had fallen down. Noah rushed towards her and helped her pick up the books. " Let me carry them for you, Mam."
" That's so sweet of you, Noah," Mrs. Parkinson praised. He followed her to the staff room and kept the books on the shelf. " What's the progress on your new novel? Did you complete it?"
Noah signed. " No, Mam. I think I have writer's block."
" Keep trying. You will eventually get it."
" Thank you, Mam. So I will get going," Noah said and went out of the room.
Meanwhile, Aiden had woken up early and got fresh. He was nervous about his first day of college and was scared to leave his room, thinking about the various possibilities. What if the students here were bullies? What if the Professors don't like him? The people he met after entering the University seemed pretty good, so he was hoping the students in his Major would be the same and would just leave him alone.
When he got ready to go, he saw his roommate was still sleeping. Aiden was concerned Jay would be late for his classes as he was blabbering the previous night about not being late on the first day of the semester.
After much thought, Aiden approached his roommate and woke him up.
Jay woke up groggily and asked, " What's the time?"
" I-It's already 8.15."
" F**k!!! My classes start at 9, and my building is at the corner of the campus." Jay got down from his bed and walked towards his shelf to get his clothes.
" D-Do you need my help with anything?" Aiden asked.
" No, buddy. Thanks for waking me up," Jay said with a smile. " I will head to the shower."
Jay was about to go when Aiden asked reluctantly, " D-Do you know where is the engineering department?"
" That's not too far. I think it's the second or third building from here, just next to the Literature department."
"O-Okay. Thank you. I will be leaving then."
" See you later, " Jay says and rushes into the washroom.
Aiden rechecked his bag to see if he had everything he needed and left his dorm.
As Jay had suggested, Aiden first checked the second building and couldn't see any board or indication that it was the engineering department. Maybe he was at the other end of the building? He decides to check it out and enters the building. While he was looking around, he suddenly crashed into someone.
" I-I am s-sorry, " Aiden said in a soft voice even before he saw who it was.
Noah stiffened when he heard the most angelic voice he had ever heard. He turned around to see who it was, and his breath caught in his throat. He got lost in the sensual eyes, as blue as the sky. The person in front of him was handsome, from the depth of his eyes to the gentle expressions of his voice. He had the kind of face that stopped you in your tracks. His golden locks looked so smooth and shiny that Noah itched to move his hands across them.
Aiden raised his head and realized he had crashed into the handsome guy he had seen the previous day in the dormitory. He felt awkward and shy when the guy was continuously staring at him.
Aiden blushed and repeated the words, " I-I am really sorry, " and dashed out of there while Noah stood stunned, still lost in a daze.
