Chapter 157: Six Months Later Part 1

Everything has gotten back to normal within our packs. We've celebrated the Winter Solstice as the Alpha Couple (Davidson and I) at Red River but not at Rock Canyon. The climate has changed, but I'm not sure if it has changed enough for Elder Graham to take the pack off of probation.

While I sit in my office waiting for news of Elder Graham's arrival, I keep thinking back at the Winter Solstice Celebration at the Rock Canyon pack house.

We entered the pack house as a family. Luna Margarite made sure every room was decorated to perfection and every detail was taken care of. She wanted to ensure that we would have a good celebration this year.

As James prepared to make his first Winter Solstice Celebration announcement, I could tell he was a little nervous. He didn't know what kind of reception we would receive. So far, we haven't heard anything negative but we have seen a few negative glances our way.

As the celebration began some Rock Canyon pack members were a little timid to approach me, but a few were happy to see me and the children. I still didn't feel comfortable being in their presence. It still felt awkward and unpleasant. Even James made a comment of how tense the atmosphere felt instead of being happy like it should have been.

When James asked me to dance, I gladly accepted. We happily danced with each other like we always did as if no one else existed. We were in our own little world. When we finished dancing, James escorted me into Davidson's awaiting arms.

I remember seeing the forced smiles on some pack member's faces while others were genuine. Davidson noticed the smiles as well and commented in our link, 'Why are the pack members so tense? Some are acting like you have the plague. I don't get it."

'I know. I don't get it either but I'm just going to ignore them and just go about my business. What else can I do?' I sighed softly as I allowed him to hold me close to him.

'My love, are you ready to go home? I sense you are tired and ready to relax for the evening. Am I right?' inquired Davidson with a sly grin.

"You are correct MY Honey Bear. Let's round up the boys and girls so we can go home,' I agreed while we walked out into the foyer from the ballroom.

'I just told James we were leaving because you were tired and because of the tension in the pack house. He said he understood. My Mom and Dad are helping to round up the boys and girls for us,' Davidson exclaimed with a chuckle when he noticed Greyson walking up with Cassie in tow beside him along with Owen holding Jackie's hand.

"I guess we are ready to go home," I snickered as I picked up Jackie who kept yawning beside Owen. "We need to get these sleepy heads in bed."

"I guess you're right. Come here, my girl. Let Daddy take you home and put you to bed, hmm?" soothed Davidson as he picked up Cassandra who started yawning as well.

"Do we have to go to bed when we get home too? We're not tired yet?" whined Owen.

"You can probably stay up another hour or two. We'll see when we get home, okay?" I answered him truthfully as we walked out the door to our minivan.

The boys did stay up for another three hours, not two that night. They played video games and then went to bed. They earned the extra hour by helping with the girls at the celebration at the pack house.

I was broken out of my memory by a knock on the door. It was Elders Graham and Terrance. I was surprised that they would come to see me first instead of going directly to the Rock Canyon's pack house to see James. I bade them entrance 'come in.'

"Good afternoon Luna Sandra. How are you doing today?" Elder Graham inquired as he entered my office.

"Good afternoon, Elder Graham and Elder Terrance. It's a pleasure to see both of you once again. I'm doing very well today. And you?" I replied cordially as I bowed to both of them.

"We are doing well also. It's a pleasure to see you doing so well. Tell me, how are your children doing-Brianna and Joshua? I understand that you went into premature labor due to complications of a migraine. Is that correct?" questioned Elder Terrance.

"Yes, that is correct. A week after you left, I got a horrendous migraine. I reached out to James and Davidson for help. Before they could get here, I somehow passed out. They sent their parents to help me and they took me to the pack hospital. My babies were in distress so I had to have an emergency C-section. I awoke two days later," I explained with a deep sigh.

"Do the doctors know why you had … you've never lost consciousness before with migraines, correct?" inquired Elder Graham trying to get his facts straight.

"Yes, that's correct. This was the first time I lost consciousness. They're not sure why. Since then, I haven't had a migraine. Not that I'm complaining though. I don't miss them," I replied.

"I see. So, this maybe healed your migraines? Is that what the doctors think?" inquired Elder Terrance.

"They're not really sure but they are watching me closely. My children are doing great. They are healthy and growing by leaps and bounds. I can't believe they are already 6 months old," I shared with a look of happiness on my face.

"Yes, it has been 6 months already. We are here to see how Rock Canyon has fared these past six months. We have heard from our 'people' what the atmosphere has been like, especially at the Winter Solstice Celebration. We wanted to discuss that with you before we went to see Alpha James," declared Elder Graham as they got comfortable in the office.
