Chapter 81 81

Chapter 81 81
Third person's point of view

"Argh! Argh!" she screamed, her screams sending everything inside the dark chamber crumbling down to dust. Her eyes shined darker than the night. Her dark eyes rested on the siphon witches that stood before her, eyes buried to the marble floors, not daring to look up.
She couldn't blame them. No one could blame them. She was raging mad. Fury burned through her gaze, and even Nikola could feel it. He too had anger seething through him. He never could have expected that devil of a traitor could betray him. He never even once considered it. He had known him for almost five years and never, not even once, could he ever imagine he would have to deal with his betrayal. He had sometimes even thought of him as a puppet he could have considered as a son.
Nikola's eyes held red flames as he sipped more from his golden goblet. He turned to the shadow witch before he could muster a word.
Her deadening, stifled laughter flaunted in the shadows. Its sound scared off the last warmth in the dark chamber.
"Tell me everything again, exactly as it happened," her voice said, blending in with darkness itself.
The twin witches spoke audibly, as they had repeated in the last few minutes. They went over everything again and finished.
"This changes everything."
"The Crescent Moon is a month away," she breathed out, almost as if thinking. She moved to the candleholders, lighting them up. The candleholders formed a circle around her as they burned in bright yellowish flames, which were quick to turn into black burning flames, sending the chamber back into its darkness. From the burning fire, a paper emerged. It was a message meant for her eyes only. Raina read through it. Then a crooked, evil smile appeared before she burned the paper.
The anger she had once harbored disappeared. Her black lips curved deeper.
"So what did it say?" Nikola was up on his feet, moving to her in his red garment.
"Hasten the preparations and get them ready. I know exactly what to do next."

Dylan point of view

I retreated my steps back to the pack house, perceiving the sweet scent that filled the air around me, settling at the tip of my tongue. I felt a stir in my body; suddenly, I felt hungry and thirsty for blood. Travis spoke to me through the mindlink.
'Where should I keep him?'
'For now, at the pack house, heavily guarded too. I need to speak with the witches and the officials.'
I reached my room in a haste, taking off my blood-messed shirt.
"Dylan. Wait," my mate called, stepping in. Her blue crystals were staring at me, or rather, my exposed bare skin.
I repressed a naughty chortle in my throat.
I turned to her. Inhaling deeply, the sweet scent swam into my nostrils. Her scent was so strong and tempting.
"I don't trust him, Aderyn." I covered myself up, letting her recover from her wonder. She definitely had no idea she was gaping widely at me. But I loved it. It only proved she was also aroused by me.
'Me like it,' came Gunther with his naughty smirks. His voice in my head sounded different. Knowing Gunther, he was probably amused, daydreaming of something or rather someone.
I smirked inwardly, too. 'Such a pervert,' I cooed to him.
'So are you, human.' He conjured a sexy, deep, hard chuckle.
I smiled. The things our mate made us do.
I gathered my composure back, returning my thoughts to my mate.
"I know, and I don't want you to be mad about this." Her slim, soft hands crossed over her chest.
'She doesn't want us to be mad,' Gunther growled in my head. Believe me, it sounded more like a teenage girl's giggling; he was really loving this.
"Then let's just get rid of the bastard. What if this is his plan? He was sent here by Raina or even Nikola, just to get to you."
She raised one of her folded hands, running her fingers on her soft, kissable lips.
"That could be a theory, Dylan." She bit her lip. "But I trust him."
I snarled again at her remark. She stepped closer to me, closing the distance between us. Her powerful scent pulled me deeper into the endless pit of the pleasuring sensation that caged me.
"Dylan, listen. We are next to clueless as to what plans Nikola has toward us. Raina has a bloody traitor witch within us. I'm nowhere close to deciphering mother's journal; basically, they are at an advantage. We need Reagan. He may give off a dark, menacing aura, but that's just it. He won't be a problem."
"Because he clearly sees you as more than a friend."
She pursed her lips. "Maybe, but the Crescent Moon is barely a month away. Reagan could help us, along with Celeste and Valerie, whom I trust. We could find a way out of this curse."
I breathed out heavily. "Do you trust him?" I asked her, already hating her response.
"Yes. I do."
"I don't trust him. But I do trust you, Aderyn, so if you think this is the right call, then I have no choice but to just stand him."
A cute smile pushed through her lips. And her ocean blue eyes danced elatedly.
She breathed out in outright relief.
"Thanks for trusting me."
I moved to her, holding her to me, pushing back the strange hunger rising within me. "You don't have to thank me, princess." 'I just wish you trusted me as much as you do him.'
"Alpha." Mason twisted the doorknob open, his eyes containing a little surprise. "I'm sorry, Alpha, I didn't know... I thought you were alone."
I rolled my eyes. "What is it, Mason?"
"The witches and pack officials are waiting in your office."
I nodded to him.
"I'll be there soon."
He bowed, leaving us.
'You could have just mindlinked me for that, Mason,' I mindlinked him.
'Sorry, Alpha. I didn't know Luna would be there,' he mindlinked back with a subdued snicker.
"I should clean up, too," she said, looking at her blood-stained tank top. My eyes caught the blood on her arm. It was hers.
"You're hurt." I fought the strange hunger staking me at the sight of her blood. I felt this immense hunger and thirst that I couldn't ignore. I was hungry for her blood.
"Yes, it's nothing. Just an arrow grazed me."
I wanted to run my finger through the wound, kissing it, but I held myself fixed on my spot. Something was wrong with me.
"Yeah... you should."
She smiled at me, taking her leave.
"Aderyn," I was quick to call her name. She turned around. "We'll be waiting for you at my office."
Her face crumpled into a frown. "I thought you were having a meeting with the pack."
I smiled at her. "True, but the meeting can't start without the Luna."
She froze a little, her heart thumping mildly in my ears.
She was thinking. Then she pushed out a smile. "I'll be there."
Her words caused my heart to run a 360-degree cycle of happiness.
I hardly knew why, but her saying those words made me ecstatic. It was as if she was slowly accepting everything. I could feel her warming up slowly. The second she left, I went in a rush to the corner end of my room, taking a blood bag out of the freezer.
I drank it all, almost choking on it. But still, the hunger I felt wasn't going away. The only thing that filled my senses and thoughts was the sweet scent of her alluring blood. Fuck. I was hungry for her. This couldn't happen!
I rushed all the way to the bathroom, hoping a bath would calm me.
I had a refreshing shower, got dressed, and dashed out to my office, feeling myself a little.
I was greeted by three witches from the coven and some of the pack officials. That was Pablo, John, and Williams. Also Travis, Xavier, Morgan, and Mason were in sight, too.
"Alpha," they all called in unison, bowing as I took my seat.
"We've taken—" John started, but I raised my palm.
"We'll start in a few minutes."
I registered the confused stares that were exchanged.
"Is something wrong?" Williams muttered.
"Not at all. We'll be waiting for Aderyn," I told them.
The shock in their faces was evident, but then a blossoming smile washed it away.
Everyone nodded.
